1 East Burwood Junior Football Club Round 10 - Wrap Up 27 th June 2018 Presidents Report Congratulations to Will Aldred, Tom Petrowski and William Linton, Luke Garlick (U12) who celebrated their 50 games over the weekend. Congratulations also to Harrison Wunyhm who played his 100 games in the U15 on Sunday also. As the U13 team had a bye on the weekend it was great for our team to have a break, however when you get a call to say a game has been called off that involves your club your heart sinks. I cannot express the anger in which I am sure I share with the families and the players of the U17 team in the behaviour of a player from another club to take actions into their own hands and make stupid decisions when playing football. Although this incident was against one of our club players it is a timely reminder that we instil our club rules for conduct in ourselves as parents and teach our children that our decisions, actions and words both on or off the field is a reflection you as a person and of our club. Bad behaviour will NOT be tolerated from our players or family members within the East Burwood Football Club. On a happier note you may have noticed the HUGE sign across the front of our building promoting our club, a BIG thank you to Paul Weston (U12 coach) and the senior club for getting this organised. Small changes make a big effect when promoting our club to new families and visitors to our ground. If you have any suggestions on further improvements to our club please don t hesitate to speak to one of our junior committee members so this can be tabled at our monthly meetings. A couple of big events coming up at the club 1. Friday 6 th July Hot Dog / Dim Sim & Drink night sponsored by the Joker Jackpot Crew. Chantel our sponsor from Holistic Foot Clinic will also be at the club on this night if anyone is wanting to speak with her about any feet issues they have concerns about. We are after donations and would like to get at least 6 items from each of the teams. Also flyer attached for donations being provided for this night. 2 Team Match Reports Under 8 Central East Burwood Mitcham Black Goal Kickers: Under 9C East Burwood 38 The Basin Green 39 Goal Kickers: K. Jones 3, M. Stewart 1, L. Wooles 1, A. Ryall - 1 This week the Under 9s played away against The Basin, pleasingly the conditions were much improved on the previous week. The match focus this week was for the boys to hold their positional lines on the field and continue to increase their attack on the ball. Although kicking with the advantage of the down hill slope in the first qtr the boys were slow out of the blocks and The Basin kicked 3 quick goals. After a bit of rev up at qtr time the boys came out and showed more desperation in the 2 nd quarter and managed to get the game back on level terms. From this position it was effectively goal for goal for the rest of the game and unfortunately we came up short by 1 point. The game itself was very stop, start with lots of ball ups and unfortunately the RAMs were beaten in many of these stoppage contests, this will now give us a good focus for training and we will continue to work on our ability to win the ground ball. Overall it was a good effort and we look forward to hopefully getting back to our winning ways next week. Go Rams!! Under 10B (Black Team) East Burwood Lilydale Goal Kickers: Under 10E (White Team) East Burwood Montrose Red Goal Kickers: B. Sinclair 1, J. Stone 1, E. Firinauskas 1, Z. Ireland - 1 Caitlin Allison, Jake Stone, Hayley Connell, Zach Ireland, Max Kelly, Nathan McHugh, Ben Sinclair, Fynn Waring Jones, Jack Pitt The Whites were back at home against Montrose on a slightly dryer Sunday morning than last week. The kids seemed to be ready for a big day and they did not disappoint. The first quarter was a slow affair with most of the play centred on the East Burwood half forward line. Caitlin Allison and Jake Stone seemed to be everywhere trying to push the ball forward but we were unable to convert and went into the break six points down. In the second quarter the Rams kicked into gear, our midfield of Max, Nath and Fynn started dominating resulting in a quick goal to Jake Stone. With a couple of close chances created by Jack Pitt and Zach Ireland, we eventually scored a major with a long-range effort through Ben Sinclair. The third quarter became a hard slog due to the number of Montrose players around the ball, but through hard work, we managed to keep them scoreless while creating a few chances of our own but without capitalising on our good work. Finally our effort payed off in the fourth quarter with a goal each to Zach and Eli and many more shots on goal that went unrewarded. Keeping the opposition scoreless for three quarters showed that our defence can be excellent when they put their minds to it. A big shout out to Haley Connell for an excellent fortnight of footy, your last 2 games have been fantastic. Well done Rams Under 11B East Burwood Knox Goal Kickers: M. Davies 1, C. 3 Under 12C East Burwood Upper Ferntree Gully Goal Kickers: J. Sinclair 3, D. La Fomtaine 2, J. Cooper 2, A. hicks 2, W. Ryall - 1 In a solid build up during the week at training, we took that out onto the park against Upper Gully. The first quarter was a tight tussle with the scores even to tell the tale with a great goal from Coops. The second quarter saw our boys lift with great pressure and tackling by Bailey Dillon and amazing individual brilliance by Aaron Hicks taking a strong grab 40 out, playing on and kicking truly tight in the forward pocket. All our boys were attacking the ball with Luke Garlick and Will A all having quality movements with the ball in hand. At half time we asked the boys to keep doing the little things right and reward will come, Zac smith, Alan and Brayden providing great contents over the ground and Thomas P and Will R doing quality team things with bumping and shepherding. Jonty Sinclair had a blinder with amazing workrate and pressure in the forward half with reward on the scoreboard. Our midfield worked tirelessly all day with Cameron, Angus. Will R and Goldie all working hard over the ground. In the last term we had Searlie leading from the front with great talk with run and carry, Daniel Rossi attacking and contested ballwork. Will A went back onto the ground after a bruised hand and starred in the backline along with Goldie and AJ stopping a lot of forward entries for the opposition. He is a very reliable player that can play all over the ground and is not scared to go get his own footy. Congrats Tom.

Every team needs selfless players such as Harrison and I'd like to congratulate him on a great milestone.

8 Event Flyers/Information Auction Night Saturday 21 st July To all Families at East Burwood Junior Football Club, As you may be aware, our major fundraiser is quickly approaching- the East Burwood Football Club Auction Night! (Date has been confirmed: 21st July) This event is our MAJOR fundraiser for the year- for both the Senior and Junior Football Clubs. For this reason- we are asking all Junior teams to rally together and gather donations and items for our clubs AUCTION NIGHT. We are looking for major items, big items, small items, items we can put together to make hampers with. Every item whether it s big or small, all contributes to monies raised for the Junior Club. Every parent or family knows someone who owns a business who could donate an item, or a family member who could donate a voucher, or maybe a neighbour who could donate tickets to an event, a friend who could donate trade services... the possibility s are endless, everyone knows someone who could donate something- all you have to do is ask! So Mums ask your- hairdresser, nail technician, beautician, house cleaner, kids sports coaches, your local theatre, local bounce, local pool... they just might donate something. Dads ask your, landscaper, gardener, lawn mowing service, dog washer, car washer, golf club... If we could aim for each family bringing in 1 donation to contribute- this would be amazing and mean more monies raised for the Junior Football Club and it would go directly to our Sons and Daughters football careers. Please put your thinking caps on - WORK AS A TEAM, and start sprooking and gathering! All items can be given to your team mangers, along with details attached (description of item, donated by, team gathered by, rrp, etc).
