6 Develop a spirit of brotherhood a spirit of brotherhood that will extend beyond the athletes playing years at Irvine High School. We want each player to form bonds with teammates that carry into his adult life knowing that he has a support group to assist him when times are difficult. Encourage the concept of selfless volunteerism being a teammate extends beyond the playing field and into the community. We aim to provide a variety of opportunities for a young man in the Irvine Football program to give his time and talents in order to benefit others.

7 IDENTITY Discipline We will strive to be the most disciplined team on our schedule. That means knowing what to do, when to do it and getting it done. Relentless Effort Every player will be expected to give his maximum effort, physically and mentally, in every phase of practice, including strength training and meetings.

8 IDENTITY Brotherhood In team each individual must build the trust and respect of his teammates. Positive motivation and reinforcement is the basis of all great relationships so pride yourself on holding each other accountable. Bet Against Me We must develop the mentality, that no matter what others may say, we are going to exceed their expectations because we possess the other three characteristics listed above more than anyone we are going to play. 12 SUMMER CAMP INSTRUCTION: Irvine Vaquero Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams systems Position specific skill development and football conditioning STAFF: The camp will be staffed by as many of the current Irvine Football coaches that the budget can sustain. The goal is to have a ratio of no more than 15 players per coach.

13 SUMMER CAMP ATTIRE: Irvine Football T-shirt & Irvine Football shorts Players will get one of each on the first day of camp additional may be purchased Optional: Plain White T-Shirt & Dark Green athletic Shorts Soft Shell Helmet Program Issued White Crew Socks Plain (No stripes or logos) Football cleats (must be all BLACK or all WHITE) Mouthpiece (Dark Green or Black no fangs or other designs) Optional: Gloves (must be Team gloves) No jewelry of any kind worn at practice No headbands, caps, etc. Eastbay Team Sales Flyer

15 SUMMER CAMP Behavior/Effort standards: Be on time to all practices. The player must notify Coach Dumont in advance of all absences (phone or ). Players will address coaches by the title Coach at all times. When a coach or other adult is speaking players will maintain eye contact with that person and refrain from speaking. Players will be expected to give their best, focused effort during all football activities. Anything less will not be tolerated and a player may be removed from the activity if he does not live up to the standard. Enthusiastic - high tempo make it fun Do anything to help (equipment, water, scout, video,etc)

16 MULTI-SPORT ATHLETES In order to meet the needs of both sports while at the same time avoiding burn out the following considerations will be taken: 1. The In-Season sport takes priority in terms of scheduling and decision making. 2. The immediate preseason period will be compromised with the emphasis placed on the next season of sport. 3. Athletes will strength train a minimum of 2 days per week on a year around basis. 4. The in-season and/or next season sport will provide a structured and consistent strength training program for the athletes. If the sport cannot then the athletes will fulfill their strength training requirement with the football program. 5. The coaches will meet and discuss the athlete s requirements so the athlete is not in the middle.

17 FALL TRAINING CAMP OVERVIEW: Fall Training Camp begins Thursday, August 2nd Practices are Monday-Saturday (Times TBA) Players must have 14 days of practice before they can play in a game (CIF Rule) First 3 days Helmets Only (Acclimation period) Baseline Concussion test given before full contact practice begin Practices are no longer than 3 hours per day (CIF Rule) Only Two (2) practices a week of full contact drills The program provides: Helmet, Shoulder Pads, Hip Pads, Tailbone pad, Thigh and Knee Pads Practice Pants, Practice jersey, belt Game uniforms

18 IN SEASON OVERVIEW: Practices are Monday-Wednesday until 6:00pm Game are Thursday afternoon at 3:15pm Fridays are film and flush done by 4:00pm Freshman expected to work Varsity sideline at least two games throughout the year (water, film, ball boys) No weekend commitment Academic progress is monitored based on each individual (weekly, monthly, etc.)

19 OFFSEASON OVERVIEW: All freshman are highly encouraged to try another sport Wrestling Track & Field Lacrosse We do provide an Offseason training program that includes Strength Training, Agility Training and Football Skills Academic progress continues to be monitored Character Development lesson
