1 The Hartefeld National Weekly Update A Brief Note From Our General Manager James Fisher regarding the club: After a lot of discussion regarding number 5 and the ropes issue, we got our Golf Team together and agreed that removing the ropes during member play was appropriate at least on a trial basis. There is still concern about the bunker areas and cart traffic so we will review the change at the end of the season and review the impact. Thank you Larry for sticking with this issue and for your suggestion. We will be installing new locks on the locker room doors to limit the public traffic in those areas. The combination will be ed to members before they are installed and will also be available in the pro shop. A new coffee machine has also been installed outside the locker room area. The Fore Tees software will be up and running in about a week or so. The new version is VERY member friendly and contains some interesting new features. We appreciate your input on this issue and your patience. We are now adjusting it for our calendar and other back of the house functions. Following the severe storms of late we have suffered some serious tree damage. The trees have been removed for the most part and the course is back in shape. The severe rains have been tough on our already troublesome bunkers but Bill and his team has been able to get them back in shape. The area around the golf school building was cleared of the trees that were surrounding it due to the overgrowth of these pear trees. They were damaging the building and the canopy and were becoming a safety issue. We are currently repainting the building and will be replacing the trees with something a little less intrusive. The lights on the school have been redirected to illuminate the Flag during the night time hours. We will be changing locks on the portable bathrooms as well and will have keys on the cart key chain. The trees removed from some of the holes, 8 and 12 in particular have impacted the play and feel of those holes. We will be addressing this with you at our next meeting as to what will be done to these areas. We would not be planting any replacement trees before fall for those areas. We have also widened some of the forward tees and moved the forward tees on # 10 to the larger tee area. I will be preparing a State of the Club letter that will be going out shortly. It will include this and other information regarding the club. We are planning to have it out by early next week. I appreciate all the time, work, and dedication of the Advisory Board as they have assisted us with many of the areas listed above. James Fisher

Additionally, any member 18 and under can see Bob or Jim in the golf shop for information pertaining to personalized instruction at a reduced member rate. Golf Course Update: Be sure to dispose of all cigarette butts, broken tees, and trash into the proper receptacles or carry back in the golf cart. The course and your round will benefit from each and every member doing their part. Please be sure to inform all guests of our Golf Attire policy. Adherence to this rule helps maintain the decorum and professionalism of our private club. Thank you for your assistance. Golf Attire - Appropriate golf attire is required for all players when using the Golf Course or Practice areas. If you are in doubt concerning your attire, please check with the Golf Shop staff.
6 Men: Women: Appropriate golf attire must be worn at all times. Pants or golf shorts must be worn. Tank tops, denim, T-shirts, cut-offs, sweat pants, cargo pants/shorts, bathing suits or other athletic shorts are NOT permitted. Additionally, all shirts should be tucked in. Appropriate golf attire must be worn at all times. Halter-tops, denim, T-shirts, bathing suits, sweat pants, cargo pants/shorts; athletic shorts or short shorts are NOT permitted. Ladies Open Play Tee times are set aside for the ladies on 8:30 am (note the time change), and again on Thursday evenings, 6pm. Additionally, the ladies will begin formatting these days to add a little spice to the round All formats will be voluntary and will be discussed prior to the round. It is important that everyone arrive at least 30 minutes before to the first tee-time, and do not start early, for coordination and planning purposes. As a reminder most ladies playing in the open days gather at the Pub for a little food, beverage, and conversation after the round. So ladies if you would like to meet more members this is a perfect opportunity to do so. Hopefully this will encourage more women to come out and play together (even those working ). Mid Atlantic Seniors: Hartefeld Seniors represented our Club well in recent Mid Atlantic Senior Tournaments. Jim Howe's team finished second at Delaware National in July and Larry Walker was on the winning team at the August 4 Penn Oaks outing. The next event is at Hartefeld on August 17, followed by Cavaliers, Newark and Kennett Square. An additional event may be held at Wyncott in early October. Remember any Hartefeld member over 50 with an established handicap is eligible to play in these events. Sign ups are in the men s locker room or you can contact Jim Howe. Cost is $48 which includes golf cart, lunch and prizes.
