The Board is pleased to welcome Linda Stapledon and André Rancourt, who have been acclaimed as new directors. Linda and her husband Jeff moved into Equinelle this past May from Barrhaven. They chose Equinelle for the great sense of community and the varied amenities available. Linda is a professional accountantandhasagreedtotakeontheroleoftreasurer. André and Carol took possession of their new home this past March. Also an accountant, André has sat on several boards and has completed the Governance Essentials Program for directors of Not-For- Profit organizations. Both are looking forward to pu ing their experience and expertise to good use and will no doubt be very positive additions to the board and our community. Weknowyouwillallmakethemfeelwelcomeastheytake on their duties. AGM 2018 Members are invited to a end The Resident Club Annual General Meeting Wednesday, October 17th, 7PM Multi Purpose Room Sweets and wine will be served following the meeting at the inaugural Community Celebrations event. The Resident Club Board hard at work. From left; Val Devlin, Linda Stapledon, Mitch Barsalou (vice-chair), André Rancourt, Anna Best (chair) and John Polak. Any Volunteers Out There? Resident Club events are always much appreciated and receive rave reviews from members and guests alike.as we all know, the success of any such activity is dependent on several members coming together, contributing their time and expertise to ensure that a good time is had by all! The next major event in our calendar is, hopefully! the Christmas dinner dance currently scheduled for Saturday December 8. At this time, no one has stepped forward to lead an organizing commi ee. Given the effort and time needed to get everything in order, the board is making this last appeal for a member or members to take on the task of organizing this year s Christmas event. Should a commi ee not come together by the end of October, we will release the date from the calendar and forego the Christmas dinner this year. Anyone willing to lead a commi ee is encouraged to contact any member of the Advisory Board.
2 equinelle Golf Commi ee... Submi ed By John Polak Fore! The Resident Club Golf League is coming to a close with a final scramble format on October 1st followed by lunch and awards in the small multi-purpose room. Some 100 men and women golfers registered in this year s league. Every Monday between May 14th and the October 1st, with only three cancellations due to weather, about 50 to 60 golfers enjoyed various friendly games. Once a month, a morning shotgun start was followed by lunch on the veranda or in the Grill, where much banter was exchanged, with the winning teams holding bragging rights! In total, more than 900 golfers enjoyed the Monday outings. EQ LIBRARY FALL DONATION DAY It s time again to add some new titles to our library. The library committee would very much appreciate donations of gently used, recent bestsellers by popular authors to add to the collection. Our current genres are Fiction, Biography and Non-Fiction. WHEN: Thursday, October 11th, 1-2 pm and 7-8 pm WHERE: In the Library. For further information please contact either Angela Kennedy ajkennedy48@yahoo.ca or Judi Collard at judimc@rogers.com The golf commi ee thanks everyone for their participation and good humour. Have a great winter as we look forward to welcoming everyone back for more and be er golf next spring. Please remember to replace your divots. We encourage golfers to replace their divot first, then if needed use the divot sand/ seed mix bo les. The course will remain soft for the rest of the season and more golfers will be taking larger divots. Thank you... ChrisVolle, ourGroundsSuperintendent W W W. E Q U I N E LL E R E S I D E N T C L U B. Interested in knowing what s happening in the Library on any given day or throughout the month? Select Activities by Room Location from the Events Calendar drop-down list. Of course, if you are interested in a bird s eye view of all monthly activities, select Activities-All from the Events Calendar drop-down list. The eq Book Club meets on the third Thursday of every month in the library, from 1:00pm - 3:00pm, to discuss books, authors, and ideas. In October the book club meeting will be on Thursday the 18th. 4 Fitness Corner... Submi ed by Anna Best What a great turn out to the September 11th complimentary Nordic Pole Walking Clinic, sponsored by CARP and hosted by Rick Baker. Over 35 members were introduced to the benefits of pole walking and were shown proper form and technique by Susan Yungblut, a registered professional physiotherapist. Once poles were adjusted for proper fi ing, members enjoyed a practise run or two around the clubhouse. Thanks Val! The Aquafit classes led by Val Jackson, are now over for this year. Participants wished to express their gratitude and presented her with some much appreciated gift cards, no doubt to keep Val and Ron active during the winter months, and ensure that she returns next Spring anxious to once again lead those popular activities. Well done Ladies! Thanks to responses from the online survey the Fall Fitness Schedule now includes afternoon, evening and Saturday morning classes to accommodate all members. Members can now enjoy a variety of fitness programs from aerobics designed for Adults 55+ to circuit training for a high-intensity workout. The complete schedule of fitness classes is available on the resident club website fitness monthly calendar Two new fitness programs starting in October: The cost is $50 for 5 classes paid in advance or Drop-In rate:$15 per class - Zumba fitness - Tuesday evening from 6-7PM runs from Oct 9th - Nov 6th - High-intensity circuit training - Thursday evening from 5:30-6:30 PM runs from Oct 11th - Nov 8th Online registration is easy - Select the event from the October calendar and click on the Register bu on to be added to the list of participants. 5 Social Commi ee AUGUST HIGHLIGHTS Time in a Bo le Dinner and Show A heartfelt thank you to Dora Fanelli for organizing another great evening in Brockville. Yes, this was the second road trip for over 35 resident club members. In July, a number of members car pooled to Brockville for a lovely meal at the Mill restaurant followed by a nostalgic evening of musical hits at the Brockville Theater to celebrate the McCartney Years. Eddy and the Stingrays They just keep ge ing be er and better! Back by popular demand, the sold out event on August 11th had resident club members dancing and singing the night away to tunes like Mustang Sally, Runaround Sue, Pre y Women, California Girls and Woolly Bully. 6 SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS Wine Tasting Evening There was a whole lot of Wine-ing going on at the clubhouse. equinelle s very own sommelier, Louise Boudreau and her team of volunteers introduced Signature Grapes and Country Blind Tasting to over 80 resident club members on September 16th. To set the tone, participants were greeted with a glass of bubbly and encouraged to mingle during the registration process. After receiving a brief overview of signature grapes and their characteristics, members we challenged to a blind tasting of three white and three red wines. Needless to say, some members were successful in identifying all six wines correctly while others certainly require a bit more practice. A Fr i e n d l y R e m i n d e r Please be a good neighbour and respect community property, Help keep our benches, play structures and grass green and clean. W W W.
