WAY TO GO HUCK. If you were not able to go to Hickory Knob last month you missed a great time, thanks to Larry Thomas, Don Wood & Claude Rhen for all of their hard work in making this another great out of town trip for SGAA. We have another great trip coming up in September/October, our annual Member Guest trip to Saint Simons (Sea Palms), you should be able to get any and all information on it from the web site or you can contact me or Claude Rhen who is managing the trip for me. 2 SGAA Newsletter, July 2012 From the President s Pen Continued and correct on the web site, when you see them give them a Thank You. One thing to keep in mind when we are fussing about something being wrong or not correct, everyone who works behind the scenes for SGAA is doing it for the love of SGAA, they received no pay for hours spent every month keeping the records straight, THANK YOU GUYS. THINGS ON YOUR MIND: I know I am not your mama but I am going to tell you anyway, guys it is hot as He.. outside, please drink lot of fluids (beer does not count) and stay hydrated. If you feel weak stop playing golf and get in the shade, you will have another chance to play golf Also be sure to wear clean underwear in case you have to go the hospital I know your mama told you that. Thanks for the great response at the Oaks last week we had a great turnout, Tuesday was a bit of a problem but for the most part it all worked out. We had 109 golfers show up, no one expected to see that many. There were a few of you that did not get to play at the Oaks, but hopefully you went over to Cherokee Run where they were waiting for you. We will be returning to the Oaks next year! We have some great courses coming up this month, so get out there and play golf. Stay cool and come by the Tuesday table and say Hi. 4 SGAA Newsletter, July 2012 HOORAY FOR RAY AND ROY; There is a very nice article with photos of Ray and Roy Fruit in the June 2012 UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL IN TUCKER publication.written by Ruth Fruit, it describes how these identical twins have stayed so close during their formative years, service in the U.S. Army on the front lines in Korea, being in business together for 40 years, retirement and then playing golf almost every day with the SGAA plus 2 days a week at their club course, Southland Country Club in Stone Mountain. Ray has 6 holes in one and Roy modestly lays claim to 7. Does anyone have a greater love for the game than these remarkable gentlemen who are 81 years young? We are truly blessed to have them in our organization. Take a look at the article if you come across the publication and give a congratulatory shout out to Ray and Roy when you see them! 2012 MEMBER GUEST TOURNAMENT AT SEA PALMS; This edition contains updated information concerning the upcoming member guest tournament at the Sea Palms Resort and Golf Club on St. Simons Island Sept. 30 to Oct. 3.Study it carefully as there are numerous options for you, your guests, spouse or significant others. We were there two years ago and it was one of the best, if not the best member guest event in our history. This year promises to be no different. Make your reservations early. Sponsors of all the 2012 new members, encourage the new members to sign and make reservations for this event. It s the best way to meet new and old members and really enjoy the good golf and fine fellowship that our organization really all about. ************************************************************************** REMINDER RE UPCOMING VACANCIES IN OFFICER AND BOARD POSITIONS; The following positions will be filled by election in November: Vice President, Secretary and 4 Board positions. Are you ready to step up and be a candidate for any of these positions? No prior experience required, just a commitment to continue the fine tradition of the Association. ***************************************************************************** EAGLES GALORE; Lots of eagles this month: Jesse Dooley, Dan Bailey, Don Helm, James Douglas scored eagles at Highlands; Richard Harris, James Douglas and Neil McNaughten eagled at Bear Creek and Dan Dilbeck eagled twice at the Oaks.
