Please bring a casserole or similar to share for dinner [ Pot Luck ] Committee Members Wanted:...Brendan is standing down as the President...but most of all the Club needs General Committee Members who can turn up to a meeting once per month and help make decisions about the running of the Club so if you want to input or learn about the running's of Pony Club this is the first step no strings attached. Committee members must be adult supporters of Pony club, meaning you don't have to have a child involved you can be independent or a relative who is interested...it is free to become an adult supporter of the club. Every family will be placed on Canteen Duty at least once, if you cannot fulfil your duty could you please organise a swap with another family prior to the Rally. 3 APRIL 2013 PCAV & Club News New Dressage Tests now in use The Test papers have had a facelift with the inclusion of a "directives" column which will aid both riders and judges and alert them to what is expected for each movement. The A4 versions of the Tests have been uploaded to the PCAV Website Please note 2006 Dressage Tests can be used until July the Organising Committees must stipulate clearly from which year the tests will be used. it is in your best interest to make yourself familiar with them SMZ COMMITTMENTS Mini Tooradin We are the Captain Club for Dressage: Organise Judges All workers Pencillers Gate Steward Gear Checkers Setup & Packup Attendance / Sign In Riders please sign in when you arrive at Rally prior to lineup & hand in your grading card to Merja New Rules: You may obtain a Rally attendance for two horses on the same rally day as long at they are each ridden under instruction. 4 APRIL hpc.ponyclubvi Racing Victoria Track Rider Training Programs Racing Victoria in conjunction with various TAFE providers bring riders from across Victoria to train them to ride and work with thoroughbred race horses via programs at a number of locations across the state. This training allows people to use their skills to gain employment in the industry while helping address the industry s skills shortage. There will be numerous industry speakers throughout the programs covering various careers in racing along with theoretical classes and mounted instruction on thoroughbred race horses both on and off the track. TAFE Equine qualifications will be completed throughout the programs. There are 3 programs, tailored to the different experiences and skills of riders. Level 1-Novice Track Rider Program This program is developed for people wishing to become a track rider or jockey with little or no riding experience. The program is to be run over 5 days delivered by pony club/ riding club instructors, it may be necessary for candidates to be tested on riding skills at a later date. Level 2- Track Rider Program for existing riders This program is designed for an experienced rider wishing to learn how to ride track work. The program is run over 6 days and intermediate riding skills are a prerequisite to entry into this program. Level 3- Advanced Track Rider Program This program is designed for those who have existing track rider experience or who have completed the Level 2 Program and would like to enter the industry as a professional track rider. The program is run over 3 days most of which will be spent on the track. It may be necessary for some candidates to be assessed at a later date. This insurance enables PCAV riders to claim for injuries sustained whilst engaging in equestrian pursuits at anytime of the day. This means riders are covered for Personal Accident outside of Pony Club endorsed activities. Members who are 18 or over on the 1st July must pay 18+ fee Members who turn 18 after the 1st July will pay the Junior Riding Member fee. A V C CERTIFICTE NEWS The C certificate no longer has a written test as per the Pony Club Australia Syllabus of Instruction January 2013 E Certificate 7 years or less. The assessment format for the C certificate - Pony Club Australia Syllabus of Instruction January 2013 is: Presentation rider to wear formal Pony Club uniform Riding Jumping Horse Handling and Horse Care and General Knowledge Certificate Manual Activity sheets in the C manual to be completed verifying experience in the following categories - Pony Club Australia Syllabus of Instruction January 2013: Presentation Riding Jumping Horse Handling Horse Care Please also note the candidates also need to show the following [- Pony Club Australia Syllabus of Instruction January 2013] **** A pass must be gained in all FOUR of the sections even if some supplementary work is necessary ***** Show proficiency in active riding This could be mounted games, bareback riding, polocrosse, sporting or any activity as approved by the assessor. Clubs will need to advise the Zone Examining Secretary what active riding each candidate will be displaying at the C certificate day. As the written tests have been withdraw from the C certificate day. Clubs will need to make sure they have spent enough time with their members covering all aspects of the C manual. Please do not rush getting your member with this certificate it can take a good 12mths for members to learn and remember everything that s in the C manual. At the C certificate day, any members who are not competent in any of the four assessment areas or who have not completed their C manual. Will not gain their C certificate at the C certificate day, they will need to complete the section/s again at a time agreed by Assessor and candidate once the candidate is deemed to be ready. A V JB Tooradin Horse Trials It started out with drizzling rain at 0630hrs when loading in the morning however cleared up enroute and we arrived at the grounds to a very windy Tooradin Estate. The grounds were so crowded we were able to park in the bottom paddock, of course the best place as it is flat and grassy, away from Tooradin's black & sticky sand. Merja and Stefan were hard at the Dressage Gear Check which started at 0730hrs and Archie & Natasha were getting the grounds knowledge at the Crosscountry briefing. Victoria riding Bailebrigin was our only competitor on the day, no ribbons, but a good day as she negotiated Baile through the water jump with no penalties...[woohoo!! definitely a winner] Our Club must thank Merja for working tirelessly once again and attending the Dressage setup for Saturday as our club representative and also Gear checking along with Stefan, Stefan the 150 riders in all grades for the Dressage on Sunday. Thankyou and Congratulations must go to Archie for putting up his hand to be a Cross-country Jump Judge for the day. He was well baptised into the job having many refusals, a rider who decided to miss the jump cause she thought it was too hard and a fall at his jump...[a big day of learning for Archie] A big thankyou to Natasha for ably assisting & helping Archie adapt to his new task of Jump Judge. Of course it was up to Mountain District to step up and save the day when another club didn't turn up to judge their allocated jump in Grade 4 thankyou Stefan. A V CONGRATULATIONS GET WELL SHAMUS Shamus is slowly getting better and getting back into work after his recent Operation & weeks in Hospital with his throat. I am sure he will be back jumping very soon. Congratulations to Brianna on her successful election to the positions of Environment Captain and Choir Captain at school GET WELL VINNIE Vinnie has been unwell with an unknown illness, he spent a couple of nights in Hospital but is now home and well on his way to being healthy well and fatter.
