From the Secretary..... Hi everyone. Welcome to March 2006 already!!! In March Morwell Pony Club are holding their annual horse and pony show. I have five programs if anyone wants one. Show is on March 5 th 2006 at Morwell Pony Club grounds. No card No ride rule applies. Any PC member wanting to ride in the open rings must pay a $5:00 fee and fill out a Day Attendance form. A Bill Bury Memorial Trophy is being awarded in the Pony Club Ring on the day. I have three Corner Inlet programs up for grabs if anyone is interested in attending this gymkhana. Being held on Monday March 13 th at Bennison Recreation Reserve near Foster. Same rules apply- no card no ride. PCAV riders entering open rings must pay a $5:00 fee and sign day attendance form. This is stated in the program. Tonimbuk Equestrian Centre are holding a three day eventing clinic March 14 th, 15 th and 16 th. Judged dressage tests, full use of competition showjumps and cross-country course. Open to all ages and levels of riders. Enquiries to Kim or Tonimbuk are also holding their annual Horse Trials on the weekend of March 11 th and 12 th. For a good day out watching some top-level action on the cross-country course, venture down on the Sunday. Rosedale Pony Club are holding an eventing training day in the school holidays. March 17 th at Rosedale Pony Club Grounds. Info is attached. Yarram and District Pony Club are holding a novelty and jumping gymkhana on March 26 th. Info is attached. If you need your Pony Club card for any of these events, please don t hesitate to contact me on or and if I am home I can meet you at the PC grounds. I am only 30 seconds away by car. Everyone should have the information for the Latrobe Group of Pony Clubs Annual Combined Training day. Money and entry forms can be handed in on March rally to Secretary or mailed with cheque payable to Traralgon & District Pony Club to P.O. Box 1328, Traralgon If you do not have the entry forms, please let me know and one will be sent your way ASAP. They will also be available at the March rally. Reminder that your PCAV cards need to be updated and current if you are going to compete. Bairnsdale have advertised Horse trials on March 26 th. This is not definite yet, it may be a combined training day instead. If you are interested in going, let me know and I will forward you relevant info as soon as I get it. We have twelve riders interested in the zone games. Sophie Shippen, Samantha Logan, Ayden Milbourne, Krystal Pattinson, Jayde Travers, Ashlee Travers, Rebecca Rogers, Alesha Rogers, Nikki McKenney, Emily Milbourne, Mikayla Milbourne and Nikki Vermeulen. 2 Page 2 PC News President s Piece The Feb rally went very well and was once again well organized, DC Tania has changed the layout of the grounds to include two jumping areas and relocated the games back to there original area along the road. The weather was kind to us but the down side was two of our members being sent off to hospital due to arm injuries. Just a quick reminder to members and family, please report any hazards that you see around the grounds as soon as possible to myself or a committee member so we can act on it immediately, this will help to ensure our grounds are safe not only for our members but also other riders who use our grounds. Our raffle fund raiser with Ex-Students cricket club was drawn Saturday 18/02, we raised $392 for our club out of a potential $800 if all the tickets were sold, overall not a bad effort but it can be improved. If anyone has a fund raising idea please let the committee know about it. (with all details, how, what, where, when, etc) The AGM will be held once again at the April rally and all executive and committee positions will be deemed vacant as per the rules. Shelley will send out nomination forms soon in the post, so if you would like to become an exec or committee member then please nominate. There are a lot of new families in the club and it is a great opportunity to get involved and bring in fresh ideas. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kate Runge for all her good work throughout the year. Kate recently resigned from the committee. Gene Ipenburg (Events Co) will fill the position until the AGM. And welcome Chris Ryan who will fill in as newsletter coordinator until the AGM. The March rally is coming up fast and I look forward to seeing you all there. 3 Page 3 DC s Corner Well most of the riders had a good day at the February Rally, there were a few spills and we hope to see Casey and Chelsea back on their horses at the next rally 26 TH March It appears that most groups were running very smoothly. Most importantly, the riders seemed to be enjoying the day. Unfortunately, one of the groups ended up with only three riders in it, as quite a few riders didn t let me know they weren t coming. Please contact me as soon as possible if you are NOT attending a rally as Instructor s are organised and paid, assuming that you are going to attend. ZONE GAMES The Zone Games will be held on 9 April 2006, we have about 10 riders who have put their names down. There will be training in the school holidays, you will be contacted. Anyone else who is interested can contact Tania or Krissy. Please note: Our rally for April has been changed to 30 th April COMBINED TRAINING DAY Names and money due at the March rally. Please make sure you check your gradings before you learn your Dressage Test. MAY RALLY COMBINED WITH ROSEDALE Please let me know if you are attending. 28 th May at Rosedale. JUNE RALLY WILL BE A TRAIL RIDE Location to be advised. Short, slow ride in the morning to accommodate all the riders, followed by more vigorous ride in the afternoon for anyone who is a little more adventurous. STOP PRESS HELPERS NEEDED!! We need to supply some helpers for the Combined Training Day at Morwell, this is run by the Latrobe Group (we are part of that). The following is required on the day - Stewards, Marshals, Pencillers, Time keepers, and pole people. Please put your name down, even if it is just for a couple of hours. Without the help of the parents, the CTD will not go ahead. You don't need to have any experience, just give a little of your time. The organising committee will ensure you are able to watch your child. Thanks everyone. Tania

5 Page 5 Rider Profile: Chelsea Bransgrove Hi. I m Chelsea and I started riding horses when I was 6, learning from Glenda Stephenson. My first horse was Casper, he was 11.2 hands and I joined the Morwell Pony Club. Then I got Cinnamon, who was 12.3 hands. After taking him as far as I could, I got Andy, the Palomino. He had a leg injury and was not able to be ridden. Since then I have borrowed a heap of other horses, Bluey, Illusion, Laurence and Spellbound. I now have my own new horse again. Her name is Applause. She is 13.3 hands and is grey. I haven t ridden her much because I fractured my arm at the last rally and now she has cut her back leg and I have to wait until it heals before I can ride her. As you can see I haven t had much luck lately!! My favourite thing to do on my horse is jumping and trial riding. I also love pony club camp. It s great fun! I also love going to rallies to catch up with my friends. Happy riding, Chelsea.
