1 UPPER BEACONSFIELD PONY CLUB NEWSLETTER DC REPOR T June 2014 Firstly, I would like to THANK all members, parents, committee and instructors for your help and support at the May rally. Being a different type of rally plan it was certainly a learning experience (particularly for myself), and although a little challenging at first in getting started it was a fun day and a great experience for everyone. It was great to see new XC course in use (thanks to Sharon and Millie for mapping out great courses for all the grades), and the dressage tests provided valuable feedback for future competitions. Our June rally will be short a few members who are competing in the State Games Competition at Bacchus Marsh best of luck to Tori, Millie, Ellie, Jess, Hannah, Katie and Sarah. This also means we may be short a few helpers so if everyone could pitch in and help would be really appreciated. Further to this, could you all please take note of the rally details regarding gear check and lining up safely in house groups, with the aim to improve safety and organisation. The theory sessions will see the older group learning how to put together a show jumping course with Shanyn, whilst other groups will be working towards certificates with Kathy, including the importance of gear check and preparation of horse and gear for pony club events. This will be an ideal opportunity for all riders and parents to understand the guidelines and safety aspects of gear check, including training for prospective gear checkers. Finally, I would like to say that I am excited and honoured to be your new DC, although I have some big shoes to fill from past DC s, I will certainly give it my best shot! I am very proud of our club and its achievements, and it has been amazing to see the growth of the club over the years. I joined UBPC as an enthusiastic horse-mad 9 year old (along with several other parents whose children are now also members here), and have great memories of my pony club days - I hope you all enjoy and gain as much from PC as I have!
