1 Rally: Sunday, 23 November 2014 DC REPORT SEVILLE PONY CLUB Hi Everyone, Hope you re all taking advantage of the lovely warmer weather and getting in lots of riding! I have seen lots of you out and about at various competitions lately and it is really great to see you all doing so well with your riding endeavours and achievements. November Rally Sunday, 23 rd November Pony Club Rally: RALLY ROSTER: Family Duty Time Chesterfield (Hailey) BBQ 9.30 am to noon Family Duty Time Walker (Abbey) Canteen 9.30 am to noon Van Beek (Kenisha) Canteen 9.30 am to noon Family Duty Time Hudak (Emily & Lachlan) Canteen noon to 2.30pm Fildes (Mary) Canteen noon to 2.30pm If you can t make your duty at any rallies, please arrange with another family to do your duty. Please note that the pony club rally commences at 8.45am (gear check) for 9.00am start. Please arrive on time for gear check as it holds the lessons up if you are not on time! It is fantastic to hear that we have quite a few of our members that are interested in forming a games and flat team at next year s NMZ Games & Drill Qualifier on Sunday, 15th March Hoping to hear from others that may be interested also - please let either myself, Trish, Fiona or Kasey know if you are interested in joining a team.

2 If we can get some teams together, we envisage at this stage that practice will take place on Saturday afternoons. If there are also any parents who can assist with being a team manager or have some time to assist on a Saturday afternoon or who have experience in the above we would love to hear from you. Grounds Set Up and Pack Up: 8.15am (set up): Black and Yellow Group 2.10pm (pack up): Please note that everyone is required to assist with pack-up in the afternoon as we all want to go home at the end of the day and we are all in the same boat!! If you ride home from pony club, please ask one of your parents to hold your horse or tie your horse in the tie up area until everything is packed up. This rally we require two show-jumping rings: the water tray, dazzle boards, jump sleeves, white blocks and brick wall to be set up in the morning. Many hands make light work!! Red group can you please tie your ponies in the Red group arena as all groups are on site at this rally. This will ease the congestion in the tie up area. Please remember to sign yourself in the attendance book on the day. Black Group please meet DC team at lunchtime to discuss the structure of the Christmas rally. K certificate group to meet with Trish after Christmas meeting at lunchtime. Gradings If you would like to be graded at this rally, please send me your grading request by this Wednesday. Please me at charlmad1@bigpond.com. Please remember to gear check at your designated area (as per diagram below). Exciting plans for Red and Silver groups for this rally your groups will be going on a trail ride along the Warburton Trail. A stop at the train café is planned for everyone who would like a milk-shake or

3 drink along the way. To anyone walking on the trail, please remember to wear comfortable shoes. Please be mindful of others that if your horse kicks, wear a red ribbon on your horse s tail. In saying that, if your horse kicks you should always wear a red ribbon at pony club or competitions. I witnessed quite a horrible incident a few weeks ago at a competition where a pony was kicked (quite hard) by another horse (and this incident could probably have been avoided if the horse had been wearing a red ribbon in its tail to warn others not to go near that particular horse). Seville Pony Club Photographs The Seville Pony Club photograph will be available at this rally. If you haven t paid but still wish to purchase a photo there will be a few extras available on the day. Message from Kasey Massih (for those that may have missed it on facebook): November 11 at 10:38pm Melbourne Good evening Seville riders, It is going to be great to have all riders on site at the November rally and I look forward to seeing you all. A few notices for riders to make note of: Flat/Games Teams- we are currently looking for an expression of interest for anyone who would be keen to be part of either flat or games team. There are already several riders who have said they would be interested, however we would love more riders. The more the merrier! If you are interested in...being part of the flat or games team, feel free to contact myself, Trish or Melissa. Black/Yellow- Myself along with Melissa will meeting with the black/yellow riders to organise Decembers Christmas rally. I would love if everyone could attend to give their input and to also discuss future plans for our pony club. Also if anyone has any ideas for a theme, please let me. Have a great week and will see you at the next rally. Cheers, Kasey Christmas Rally Sunday, 14 th December Well it s nearly that time of year where did the year go! Black group will be running another exciting Christmas rally for everyone. The theme will be decided this Sunday by Black Group at the meeting and you will be advised via facebook. For our newer members, our Christmas rally is always lots of fun!! We usually ride for half the day and return at about 3.00pm onwards with parents bringing a salad plate and sweets to share and the club provides the meat. On the day, there are a lot of awards handed out for rally attendances, most improved rider, encouragement award, gear check etc etc. Make sure that the Christmas rally is on your calendar as it is always a fantastic day!

4 Black Group Meeting - Christmas Rally Our Christmas rally is fast approaching on Sunday, 14 th December. Black group can you please meet at the Club rooms at lunch time for a meeting with the DC team to discuss the theme for the Christmas rally and planning for this event. C Certificate Group The C Certificate group consisting of Nicola Johnson-Clarke, Olivia Garland, Emily Hempel, Alexandra Phelan, Darcee McCallum, Natalie Boxell, Kaitlyn Dickson, Charlie Johnson and Emma Fewtell-Rush commenced last month. Good luck to all our C certificate members and thanks to Trish for organising all the books, planning etc and thank you to Nicky Mullens for all her knowledge and valuable assistance with the C Certificate group. The C Certificate books are available for collection at this month s rally. The cost of the booklet is $20.00 please see Trish to arrange payment etc. K Certificate Group Please meet Trish in the Clubrooms for a quick meeting during lunchtime. E Certificate Group Tahnee Dewhurst will be assisting the Red Group members with obtaining their E Certificate. For this month s rally, Tahnee would like Red group to complete the following theory questions attached at the end of this report and for the Red group to bring the theory to this month s pony club rally. 5 Ringwood Horse & Pony Club Dressage Day, Sunday 9 th November Congratulations to Camilla Baker and Sir Chevrolet Promise for their recent success at Ringwood Pony Club & Dressage Day. Camilla came 1 st, 2 nd and 5 th in all three tests she rode on the day to achieve a fantastic result of winning the overall level 3 dressage champion! Some other members that competed on the day and did extremely well were Ella Trevorrow who came 3 rd place and two =4ths in all three tests in grade 5 and Lilly Trevorrow who came =3 rd, =4 th and =5 th place in all three tests in grade 5. Chloe Tan Sing also had another successful day in grade 2 in the three tests she rode in by placing 2 nd, 2 nd and 6 th in all tests she competed in. Well done to all of you on an awesome effort! Wow, what a talented lot of riders we have within our club! Seville Pony Club are running two dressage rings at the NMZ State Qualifiers. Everyone will be rostered on. No help = no ride! Everyone is required to assist with pack up also as presentations will not happen until that s done. Even if riders haven t placed, they are still expected to pack up. Thank you to Anna Baker who has kindly offered to assist with the roster for this event. Grandvalley Show-jumping Classic, 5 th, 6 th and 7 th November This exciting event is taking place soon. Seville Pony Club will be manning one of the show-jumping rings on Saturday, 6 th December and Sunday, 7 th December. We will need lots of assistance for this event, details below: GRAND VALLEY SHOW-JUMPING CLASSIC December 5t h, 6 t h & 7th 2014 Ring 3 Run by Seville Pony Club, sponsored by Yarra Ranges Council Course Designer Ed McNair This ring is an unrestricted ring open to all EA, HRCAV and PCAV Riders. Entries will be accepted on the day but will incur an additional $5 fee per class. Uniform requirements of this ring will be Informal, Jackets are accepted/ club polos are accepted / HRCAV uniform is accepted / PCAV uniform is accepted. We do ask that all riders in this ring wear neat attire. Start Time 8.00am Sharp both days. Walk course first event at 7.30AM Yarra Valley Jump Club members will receive 10% discount on entry fees.

8 New Event introduced to the PCAV: Tetrathlon - a new sport for PCAV Clare Lewin, Tuesday, 21 October 2014 Running, swimming, jumping - on your horse - and pistol shooting. If this sounds like fun read more... Pony Club Tetrathlon is a new event for Victoria and we are looking for members who are keen to represent Victoria for the first time in the National Tetrathlon Championships, which are to be held in Adelaide in You do not have to have done all 4 diciplines to compete as there will be plenty of training clinics and competitions prior to the main event. Members just need to be aged 13 and above with some level of fitness, a willing- ness to learn new skills and be able to complete a cross country course higher than Grade C. So what is a Pony Club Tetrathlon? Tetrathlon involves 4 diciplines: Shooting - 30m target with a pistol or laser device Running m Derby (Hickstead) cm over approximately 600m Swimming - 4 minute swim I ve never shot a gun and I don t own one? That s OK, most members who start out competing in Tetrathlons have never shot a gun. We will run clinics prior to the event to teach members how to shoot a gun at a small cost. How will the teams be selected? We will hold clinics and competitions prior to the main event for selection and select a Junior Team (Under 16) and Senior Team (Under 26). 10 NOVEMBER RALLY 2014 TAHNEE DEWHURST Lesson One THEORY INTRODUCTION E Certificate - for riders who are beginning to ride off the lead rein. If riders are interested in attempting to gain their E Certificate you are required to purchase the E Certificate Manual available through PCAV at a cost of $ Please have the manual ready to bring to the next rally, along with an exercise book and pen/pencil and glue stick. The Manual comes with a fun colouring book and I would like everyone to answer why they love being at pony club and colour in the picture of My Pony on the first page of the colouring book, to share with the group at the next rally.
