Imperial Bylaws require that to gain admission to the meeting a noble must be in good standing and present his current, paid dues card at the door. FROM THE POTENTATE S DESK The previous 91 Potentates and their Ladies were each successful in their own right. It is with humility that Lady Darcy and I look forward to continuing this tradition as your Potentate and First Lady. A special thank-you to all who attended, participated in and contributed to the Installation Ceremony on January 14, 2017, and made it a night to remember. Also, to all volunteers and attendees that helped make the Quarter Auction on January 29, 2017 a great success. Noble Catering we thank you for accommodating our needs and continuing food service throughout the auction. I also want to thank the 15 Shriners and their ladies who were a part of the 100+ people who attended the New Year s Eve Dinner and Dance. The continued success of Ali Ghan Shrine is not dependent on a few individuals, but is dependent on the participation and continued support of each and every Shriner. Many events have been planned for the year, and your participation will make them successful. As stated at the Installation Ceremony, you can color inside the lines or outside the lines, and we will still need your participation in the year Yours in faith, Potentate E. 7 To all Railroad Unit Nobles and Ladies, Past Masters held their regular stated meeting on January 8, 2017 in the Fez Mecca room after a great brunch at 12:00 noon. We opened the meeting at 1:00pm with the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag, followed by prayer led by P.M. Gary Durr. Past Master Bill DuVall asked the unit if we could escort the ladies into the ballroom for his Installation on January 14, 2017 as potentate of Ali Ghan which we were very honored to do so. We now have dues cards that are very professional, thanks to Roger and Tammy Mullenax. Financial report was read and approved as read, we also took out two ads, one in McKinley Chapter and in the Rainbow Girls books. Discussion was held on our up coming bus trip to Wheeling, WV. Trip will be on April 15, 2017 and will be leaving Ali Ghan Shrine at 9:00am and returning around 9:00pm. Cost is $40.00, the bus is filling up fast, so need to get your money in. Also, talked about our trip to Tennessee October 2-5. Further details available next meeting. Bill & Darcy s cruise to Alaska is coming up June 9-16, This will be a very nice trip of a lifetime! Also, Roger & Tammy reminded us of Cinco De Mayo on May 5, Our only fundraising event for Past Masters Unit, so we will need some help. Our next meeting will be February 12, 2017, which will be our Valentine s meeting. The unit will buy all the ladies their brunch for Valentines gifts. Our regular stated meetings are the second Sunday of each month, brunch at 12:00pm and meeting will be held at 1:00pm. If you can t make it for brunch, come for the meeting. Its your unit, please support it. One last thing, David Hall is on the mend and doing rehab. We hope to see him in the near future. Yours in faith, Joe Today is a sad day for me as it is a day where I will deliver a platter of food to the family of a friend and Railroad Unit member and of Ali Ghan Shrine. Harry Hartman has been called by the Black Camel and will be missed not only by our Railroad Unit but by everyone who knew him. Harry was a good and true member to the Railroad Unit and always lead us in ways to improve us as a unit. I hope that we can continue our vision of the Railroad unit in a way that would make Harry proud. Thanks Harry for everything. On a different note, we thank everyone for helping with the calendar sales this year as it has been a very successful year. Also, just around the corner in April our spaghetti dinners will start back up on the first Monday in April. We (the Railroad Unit) also were happy to accept Noble Ray Ryan as a member of the Railroad Unit and know that he and Trish will be an asset to our unit. Thanks Ray. In trying to help with the expenses of the new pavilion the Railroad unit has purchased ten of the gun bash tickets to benefit the pavilion concrete fund. There were twenty one Ail Ghan Nobles who passed away in 2016 two of which were Railroad Unit members. The installation of officers of Ali Ghan went well as we welcomed incoming Potentate Illustrious Sir Bill DuVall and Lady Darcy. We hope that now PP Joe Kennedy and Lady Marsha will continue with the good work that they provided to Ali Ghan in Upcoming events at Ali Ghan include the Robert Burns Dinner theater on Feb. 4 th, at a cost of $30 per person. You must RSVP PP Joe Kennedy by Jan. 30 th if you plan to attend. Respectfully submitted, Wayne D. Robertson Sr. President, Ali Ghan Shrine Railroad Unit 13 14
