On Saturday, January 26th we will be plunging into Samford Pool at 9 a.m. We would love to have a lot of our athletes present. Register to plunge here: orglink=camps-registration During the Polar Plunge, we will be having a Bake Sale to raise some additional dollars. It will be a free will offering. If you would like to bake something for the sale, please Elizabeth to sign up so we know how many people will be bringing goodies. On Friday, January 25th we will be at the Cary Creek Publix store from 3-5 p.m. to promote Special Olympics and encourage attendance at the Polar Plunge. Please Elizabeth if you would like to join we d love to have as many athletes there as possible!
2 Do you like softball? We re currently looking for athletes to join our Special Olympics Softball Team. If you are interested in joining us please Elizabeth. The Lee County Pink Stars cheered with the Auburn Junior High School Cheer Squad on Monday, January 14th during the Boy s Basketball Game against Opelika. We had a blast!
3 Special Olympics 2018/2019 Season Weekly Workouts Please complete the following exercises to the best of your ability at least twice weekly, with at least one rest day in-between each workout. For example, if your practice is on Tuesdays, exercises could be done on Thursday and Saturday. These exercises are in addition to your scheduled practice(s), and are designed to help you build endurance, strength, and flexibility. If you are having difficulty with any of the exercises, please contact Elizabeth or your Special Olympics Coach for modifications. ===================================================================== Endurance: Walk or run ½-1 mile OR swim 25 meters Strength (see pictures): 15 squats 15 wall push-ups 10 lunges (each leg) 45 second plank 15 sit-ups or 20 crunches 15 hip bridges 5 burpees Flexibility (see pictures): 30 second quad stretch, each side 30 second shoulder stretch, each side 30 second chest stretch 30 second hip abductor stretch, each side Wall Push-Up Burpee Plank Hip Bridge Squat 30 second hip adductor stretch, each side 15 arm circles (both directions) 15 wrist circles (both directions) 15 ankle rolls (both directions) Quad Stretch Shoulder Stretch Chest Stretch Hip Abductor Stretch Hip Adductor Stretch
