Both teams are coming off road losses in last weekend s ESPN BracketBusters Series. The Seahawks fell, 76-68, at Radford while Bruiser Flint s Dragons were pounded, 76-60, by Bradley in Peoria, Ill. 5 Memorable Moments In The UNCW-Drexel Series In the fi rst meeting between the two clubs, UNCW s league-leading defense holds the Dragons to 24 points below its average and 31.7 percent shooting in a victory over the Dragons on Feb. 4, 2002, at Trask Coliseum. Junior guard Brett Blizzard scores a game-high 19 points and adds a season-high eight rebounds and four assists for the Seahawks. Sophomore forward Tim Whitworth has 14 points for Drexel. UNCW pays its fi rst visit to the Daskalakis Center in Philadelphia and comes away a loser on Feb. 18, 2002, as Drexel records its 10th straight win at home. INJURY UPDATE Several Seahawks are banged up. Junior center John Fields is out for up to two weeks with a dislocated left knee suffered in Tuesday s loss to Northeastern. UNCW-RADFORD RECAP Radford shot a blistering 56.3 percent from the fl oor and held off several UNCW runs for a decision on Saturday in an ESPN BracketBusters matchup in Radford, Va. The Highlanders jumped out to a lead at halftime behind 69.6 percent shooting and wound up connecting on 7-for-10 behind the arc in the victory at the Dedmon Center. SCOUTING THE DRAGONS Drexel has been one of the surprise teams in the CAA this season behind veteran coach James Bruiser Flint. The Dragons ran into a hot shooting Bradley team last Saturday when the Braves drained 54.0 percent of their shots and went 16-for-20 at the free throw line in a triumph at Carver Arena in Peoria, Ill. THE UNCW-DU SERIES The Seahawks own a 10-6 advantage in the 16-game series, but the Dragons have won four straight since Benny Moss took over the helm of the program. CHARLESTON CLASSIC RECAP UNCW went 1-2 in the Charleston Classic after beating Penn State (80-69) and losing to Miami (67-60) and South Florida (74-66). The Seahawks averaged 68.7 ppg and shot 47.2 percent from the fl oor in the the games at Carolina First Arena. Chad Tomko was named to the All-Tournament team after shooting 55.9 percent and averaging 18.0 points in three games. John Fields added 10.7 points and 7.7 rebounds against UNCW s three BCS opponents. NEW COACH ON THE BENCH There are seven new faces on the Seahawk roster and another new one of the bench. Veteran coach Henry Dickerson joined the program on July 1 as an assistant coach following a fi ve-year stint as the head coach at N.C. Central. POST-SEASON SUCCESS The Seahawks have appeared in four NCAA Tournaments and two NIT tourneys. UNCW won the CAA Championship in 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2006 to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament and was awarded an NIT invite in 1998 and UNCW recorded the biggest win in the school s history on Mar. 14, 2002, when the Seahawks upset fi fth-seeded Southern Cal, 93-89, in overtime at Arco Arena in Sacramento.
