KIRBY ARENA RENOVATIONS Kirby Sports Center underwent the arena in Kirby Sports Center recently underwent a $1.7 million renovation prior to the start of the academic year. Three major changes were in store for the arena project that will was overseen by Clough, Harbor and Associates: new seating, the addition of a video scoreboard and an LED scorer s table. All of the seating was replaced in the arena. The seating in the sections along each sideline is chairback seating. In addition, new bleacher seating was added in each endzone, closing in the court which was previously opened at the end farthest from the arena entrance. The capacity of the arena was changed to 2,644 to accommodate the chairback and bleacher seats. A four-sided scoreboard/video board replaces the scoreboard in the middle of the arena ceiling. The videoboard will provide the opportunity for instant replays along with a host of video content similar to the in-game entertainment opportunities afforded by the video board in Fisher Stadium. An LED scorer s table will rest on the north sideline, between the team benches with similar capabilities to the videoboard. To control the videoboard and LED scorer s table, a control room will be added on the third floor of Kirby Sports Center.
