The Panthers are the second consecutive first-time opponent for the Flames, following last Saturday s trip to Southern Illinois. 2 - Liberty will be seeking its second win all-time in a game played in Georgia. The Flames are 1-4 all-time in the Peach State, with a 28-0 win over Savannah State in its most recent visit to Georgia (Sept. 23, 2006) and two losses each to Georgia Southern (1984 and 1996) and West Georgia (1984 and 1986). 3 - Three current Liberty players hail from the greater Atlanta area, including QBs Stephon Masha (Marietta) and Bo Swanson (Peachtree Corners) and OL Michael Henderman (Tyrone). Additionally, Georgia State will be Liberty s third consecutive opponent entering its matchup with the Flames coming off of a bye week. 4 - Georgia State plays its home games at the Georgia Dome, home of the Atlanta Falcons. Saturday s game will mark Liberty s fourth contest all-time at an NFL stadium. Kenny Scott recovered two fumbles, returning one of them 39 yards for a touchdown. Hagen and Tyrin Holloway came up with interceptions. The Mountaineers Taylor Lamb threw for 397 yards and three touchdowns. Today s Matchup Flames vs. the Sun Belt 3 Liberty is 1-0 all-time versus Sun Belt opponents, thanks to a overtime victory at Appalachian State on Oct. 11, The Flames close out the regular season by hosting Coastal Carolina on Nov. 19. The Chanticleers will join the Sun Belt Conference in July Flames vs. the FBS Liberty has recorded three wins over FBS opponents all-time, including triumphs over Eastern Michigan (1989), Ball State (2010) and Appalachian State (2014). The Flames are 1-5 against FBS opposition under Turner Gill. Liberty lost its first FBS matchup this season, falling at West Virginia on Sept. 12. Road Warriors Saturday s game marks the second stop on a season-long four-game road swing for the Flames, after a setback at Southern Illinois. This is Liberty s longest stretch of road games since 2001, when the Flames played five straight contests away from Williams Stadium. Liberty is one of seven FCS squads who will play four straight road games in 2015, joining Bryant, Colgate, Idaho State, North Carolina A&T, Sacred Heart and Wagner. Coach and Player Connections Liberty Head Coach Turner Gill and Georgia State Head Coach Trent Miles both served as offensive assistants with the Green Bay Packers, with Miles working for Green Bay in 2000 and Gill following in During the 1990 season, Gill (Nebraska) and Miles (Oklahoma) were both graduate assistants at Big 8 schools. Liberty Offensive Line Coach Dennis Wagner and Miles served together for three years on Pat Hill s coaching staff at Fresno State. Abnar is 31 rushing yards shy of 2,000 for his career. 44/91 - Darrin Peterson needs 44 receiving yards to become the third WR in Liberty history and the sixth WR in Big South annals with 2,500 career receiving yards. They have now been ranked inside the Top 20 for four straight weeks for the first time since the 2010 season. Liberty was ranked No. 10 in both FCS polls on Sept. 21, marking the Flames highest national ranking since Liberty has defeated three FBS teams all-time, including Eastern Michigan (1989), Ball State (2010) and Appalachian State (2014). After a win over No. 8/7 Montana on Sept. 19, Liberty is 5-2 in its last seven meetings with FCS Top 25 teams.
