The Flames entered that game ranked No. 17 nationally and finished the 2008 season at Additionally, PC has posted one winning season at the FCS level, going 6-5 in Liberty has won two consecutive contests at Bailey Memorial Stadium, part of its current five-game winning streak versus the Blue Hose. The last time the Flames played in Clinton (Oct. 13, 2012), they racked up a program-record 692 yards of total offense in a 56-7 victory. 3 - This Presbyterian team is battle-tested, having already faced three FCS Top 25 foes (No. 12 Furman, No. 3 Coastal Carolina and No. 22 Charleston Southern) and two FBS opponents (Northern Illinois and NC State). Still to come on the Blue Hose schedule is a Nov. 8 visit to Ole Miss, who is 7-1 and ranked No. 7 nationally at the FBS level. Liberty and PC have combined for three victories over nationally ranked FCS opponents this season. 4 - Saturday s contest will mark PC s fourth straight week facing a Big South foe. The Blue Hose will only have one conference game remaining (Nov. 15 at Gardner-Webb) following their matchup with the Flames. Last Meeting with Presbyterian Nov. 9, 2013 Liberty 35, Presbyterian 14 Lynchburg, Va. (Williams Stadium) Liberty led from start to finish, recording its fifth consecutive win in the head-to-head series with Presbyterian. The Flames were sparked by a strong ground game, rushing for 231 yards and four touchdowns in the contest. Desmond Rice led the way, finishing with 22 carries for 96 yards and three touchdowns. D.J. Abnar chipped in 10 carries for 42 yards and a score, giving him a touchdown in each of his two career meetings with PC. Jacob Hagen paced the Flames defense with nine tackles, an interception and a forced fumble. Liberty grinded out an 18-play, 90-yard drive in the first half, taking 9:21 off of the clock. For Presbyterian, quarterback Heys McMath threw for 153 yards and a touchdown and also ran for a score. Liberty offensive lineman Michael Henderman was a freshman and Presbyterian defensive back Cedric Byrd were teammates on the 2009 Sandy Creek High School football team, when Byrd was a senior and Henderman was a freshman. The Fighting Patriots went 14-1 and captured the program s first-ever Georgia AAAA state championship.
