1 Dear Hockey parents, players and supporters #11 A successful first weekend back of hockey with two draws and the rest wins. Well done to all the teams on these results. I would like to congratulate the 1st team on their performance in the Cape Town International Hockey Tournament where they were defending the title from last year. The 1st team beat Paul Roos in the semi final on Sunday, 1-0 and subsequently beat a very strong and competent SACS team in extra time, 1-0 in the final. SACS are the current log leaders in the WP league, having beaten, Bishops and RBHS in the league games so this is a particularly noteworthy performance. Muzamil Skeik was named Goal Keeper of the Tournament for conceding only two goals throughout the tournament and pulling off some fantastic saves.
2 KNOCK-OUTS U14A beat Pinelands U14A in a Knock Out fixture on Friday and now go through to the 3rd round where they will meet either De Kuilen or Settlers High Schools. U16A beat Westerford 8-0 on Monday afternoon and we now await the result between Stellenberg and Edgemead to see who we will play in the next round. In the U19 Knock Out Fixture on Monday evening, the 1st team beat Settlers 1-0 in the quarter-final, and will go onto play Bishops in the Semi Final on the 18 August.
3 SUPPORTER S JACKETS We have finally found a new manufacturer for jackets (same quality as previous jackets). The jackets are waterproof and lined with polar fleece. Cost: Sizes: R 475 per jacket XS-XL (men's sizing) Provisional orders can be booked by iing: Kerri Eaton: eatons@telkomsa.net END-OF-SEASON FUNCTION Please diarise the end-of-season function: 30 August It is a compulsory event for all players and a great celebration that parents are encouraged to attend. This year we will keep it simple and, rather than arranging a spit braai, will ask all those joining in this social evening to bring their own drinks and snacks. FACEBOOK AND TWITTER Don t forget to follow us on and Like our Bosch Hockey facebook page. FUNDRAISING 2014 Thank you to those who have paid their R150 voluntary levy. All players who contribute towards this initiative will be entered into a lucky draw to win some great prizes at the end of the season. Contributions must please be put in an envelope (marked with name, surname and team) and handed in to the Bursar. Rob Bowley - MiC Hockey
