2 PAGE 2 JANUARY 2019 ACHIEVERS RECOGNIZED 4-H members were recognized for their H achievements during the Annual 4-H Achievement Awards Program held in December at the Montgomery County Extension Education Center. 4-Hers are recognized for compiling an individual project record for each of their 4-H projects they complete or by compiling the overall summery of their 4-H membership and involvement which is known as the 4-H Achievement Report and is inclusive of all their 4-H activities. In addition, members were recognized for earning State Champion achievement in their events in which they compete as individuals and teams. The Program Year covered September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2018.

3 PAGE 3 JANUARY H SHOOTING SPORTS CLUB The Montgomery County 4-H Shooting Sports Team gathered donations to create seven large Christmas Dinner baskets that were then donated to the Camargo Elementary Family Resource Center to help families in need. The team has also scheduled their Annual Chili Cook-Off and Live Auction Fundraiser for Saturday, March 23rd at 6:00 PM at the Montgomery County Extension Education Center. More info to come soon! The Montgomery Co. 4-H Shooting Sports Team held their year-end banquet on Saturday, October 27th at the Montgomery Co. Extension Education Center. Awards were given to the top 5 scorers in each age group of each discipline. (Picture left). We also recognized two of our kids that aged out of the program this year. William Hudson and Austin Williams (Picture right) have been a great part of our team and we hope great things are ahead of them. We also had coach recognitions and plaques were handed out to businesses that supported our club over the past year. We are looking forward to a great season. The Shooting Sports team participated in the Jeffersonville TRUNK OR TREAT on Monday, October 22nd as a fall community service project..

4 PAGE 4 JANUARY H LIVESTOCK CLUB At the September Livestock Meeting, Anna Reffitt showed a clip and went important things officers need to do, and what people expect of them. Then, the officer elections was held. In October, Jeff Arnett distributed the checks from the Livestock Show & Sale and the new Livestock Club Officers were presented (photo below). Carmela Fletcher Green and Ralph Bailey (pictured) were recipients of the 4-H Leader Award. Ms. Green has served as leader of the This Land is Our Land 4-H Leadership Club. Mr. Bailey serves as a 4-H Shooting Sports Coach in the Archery discipline. Both have given countless hours of their time and expertise to inspire 4-H youth to excel in their 4-H endeavors. SPECIAL AWARDS PRESENTED Special Recognition Awards were also presented at the Annual 4-H Achievement Awards program held in December at the Montgomery County Extension Education Center. These awards highlight specific areas of 4-H achievements in project work. The awards and the recipients who were recognized included the following: Anna Reffitt and Derek Bailey received the Tammy W atkins 4-H Award of Excellence, recognizing the moral, spiritual, physical, mental and social development of young people. The Floyd McDaniel Award was presented to Lindsey Blevins. It recognizes outstanding project work in agriculture, horticulture, animal sciences and related projects. The Roberta Hunt Award was presented to Zachary Manley recognizing outstanding achievements in 4-H, Family & Consumer Science - related projects. The Award is named in memory of Roberta Hunt, a former Extension Office Secretary for nineteen years. Receiving the Finnell L. Fields 4-H Council Award was Landon Holley recognizing the growth and development of a senior 4-H Member. The Award is sponsored by the Ricketts Family and in memory of Mr. Fields, a retired 4-H Extension Agent who served Montgomery County for over thirty years. Hayden Holley was recipient of the 4-H Take Aim Award, sponsored by Risner s Tax Service and given in memory of Anthony Bellamy, founder of the Montgomery County Clay Runners 4-H Trap Shoot Team. The Award recognizes the member who demonstrates growth, a sense of responsibility, team leadership and respect for their fellow members and coaches. The Western & Southern Life Greg Garland Outstanding 4-H Award (formerly known as the Gateway Given Oil Service Award) has had many deserving honorees from its inception in The Award recognizes outstanding senior 4-H members in Montgomery County. This year s recipient was Anna Hash.
