What is FAIRNESS?: 1. Play by the Rules - Take turns and share. Don t take advantage of others. Don t blame others carelessly. 2. Be Open-Minded - Listen to others and respect their opinions. Some ways that you can be a responsible 4-H member are by keeping up with 4-H records and activities, bringing newsletters home to share them with family, and keeping a calendar and letting parents know what is coming up. Fairness Fairy: Pretend that a fairy flew down and granted you 3 wishes to make something fair that is currently unfair. Discuss your wishes with a partner. Now, discuss what you can do to be fair without the fairy s help. Standing in Another s Shoes: Get in groups of 2. With a piece of paper, trace your partner s shoe. Have your partner trace your shoe on a separate piece of paper. Then, together, discuss places that those shoes take you with your partner whether it be specific classes, vacation, afterschool activities, home, or 4-H events. Write all the places your partner goes in his/her shoe. After a few minutes, discuss the differences and similarities among you and your partner. Remember to be fair and kind when talking about others differences and similarities. Take turns when sharing stories. Fair or Unfair?: Have all students stand in the middle of the room. Assign one side of the room to be FAIR and the other side of the room to be UNFAIR. After reading a statement, students must decide if the statement is FAIR or UNFAIR and move to the side of the room in which they agree. Some examples of statements are: Everyone takes turns sharing their stories at the 4-H meeting. Someone let their friend get ahead of them in line before you and everyone behind you. You are allowed to have free time after all of your homework is complete. March 29, H Project Books and Portfolios due to 4-H Leader (Mrs. Kali will pick up all books on April 1, 2019 from schools.)
