WISCONSIN APPALOOSA HORSE CLUB --New Name...Same GREAT Club! There were many changes for our club in 2010, but the most significant was our name change. With that name change we will continue working on increasing our membership statewide, and have hopes to generate more interest in the Appaloosa breed will find the club busy once again starting with our Year End Awards Banquet February 26 at Seven Lakes Golf Course in Cato, WI. Along with $5.00 all you can eat pizza, we will have a short general membership meeting, present our 2010 year end awards and auction donated items for our futurity fund raiser. There will also be a variety of "Minute to Win It" games played to round out the evening. Please consider helping promote the Appaloosa breed at the Midwest Horse Fair April and Horse-A-Rama May 7th and 8th. We were the talk of Horse-A- Rama with our Showmanship Drill Team. Kelly Schwartz, Carolyn Likas, Kayla Gosz and Jena Ribley did an awesome job choreographing showmanship maneuvers to Rascal Flatts song "Life is a Highway". It can be found on YouTube under "Showmanship Drill Team." May 29 we will once again be hosting our annual NEWPHA open show at the Manitowoc County Expo. June 4th & 5th will find us at Showtime Arena in Deerfield,WI for the WApHC Spring Fling breed show. We are currently working on having a ApHC/POA show August 6th & 7th. We've decided as a board to reach out to our membership for help with organizing and running these events. Please consider giving some of your time and talents to your club. Call me or any of your board of directors to volunteer or if you have any ideas for any of these events. 16 Open Show : To be held Sunday, May 29 at Manitowoc County Fairgrounds, Manitowoc, WI Suzette Hackl has agreed to be chairperson again this year (she was chair in 2010) Fairgrounds already contracted Shann will assist with getting judge Stephanie and Saundra will continue as NEWPHA delegates representing this member club and will communicate any NEWPHA rule and/or class changes to Suzette Suzette working on Show bill and will have it done for Midwest Horse Fair and Horse A Rama WApHC Regional Shows: Spring Show: Would like to hold the show at Bounds Showtime Arena in Deerfield, WI as we did last year because the cost is very economical. The only issue to watch for is the stalls. Last year the club got stuck paying for many stalls that were not used and /or reserved as people dumped manure in them and didn t clean them out. We will watch very closely this year as this ate up the profit we would have otherwise made on the show. Looking at June 4 & 5 OR June 18 & 19 o Shann to check with ApHC to see if June 18 & 19 would be a problem to move to o Stephanie to check with Pam at Bounds to see if this date is still available Will make final decision at next meeting Fall Show & Futurity: Starla was not present at the meeting so she could not give an update on the outlook for the Futurity in 2011 There were only between 3-5 actual exhibitors that participated in the futurity classes during the fall show Board decided to check into dates for Reichert Celebration before making a final decision on a fall show and date as many exhibitors of our regional shows and members have indicated they d prefer that our shows don t overlap with this event. Starla has indicated she will not want to renew her board position but she is willing to still chair the Futurity if we have one in 2011 Old Business: Directory: Not a profit maker in the past; have always just tried to cover it s cost Had substantial difficulty last year in getting covers, back advertising sold even when trying to auction off at annual banquet Bylaws will be published to general membership via newsletter

Motion: Group discussed developing a packet w/show bills & membership roster that would be black and white and photo copied to keep expenses down - will still offer advertisements following below cost schedule: o $10 business card o $25 full page o ½ and ¼ page at discretion between $10-$25 Stephanie offered to chair and put together again this year Saundra provided motion; Stephanie provided 2 nd ; All in favor Bylaw Changes: Proposed changes: o Name change to WApHC o Add that Board can delegate a proxy to attend board meetings in their absence with the ability to vote o Board members to think of any other suggested changes for our next meeting Proposed changes to be published in newsletter to general membership and will be voted on at the general membership meeting to be held with the 2010 end of year banquet Website: Need to make sure all forms are updated for 2011; update 2011 event dates (making sure we also publish the BlackHawk events, announce the banquet location, date, cost with form to make reservation Board Positions: Eric, Starla and Cindy s board positions will be terminating Cindy has indicated she will renew her position if we need her; we do so have asked if she will consider it. Starla has communicated that she is not interested in renewing her position. Will check at next meeting with Eric to see if he is interested in renewing his position. Nominations for any other club members interested in taking a board position will be taken at banquet and via distribution of proxy nomination form as we did last year Newsletter: Need to get one out in early to mid January once we finalize show dates and banquet date & information. Chelsea has asked if we are sending one out because one hasn t been sent in some time; we will contact her after our next meeting when these decisions are made

New Business: Additional Fund Raising Ideas: 1. Hold another open show but in a team tournament format such as WI Interscholastic shows An entry fee amount would be set by team/division Divisions established for youth and adults Every team would have one member or non rider who would act as coach to do team sign up, etc. Board would like to pursue this idea and look for available July, Aug or early Sept dates Shann to check on available dates at Manitowoc Fairgrounds. We are interested in holding it at this location because Horse O Roma board will likely give us refund of facility charges like they do for the May show 2. Midwest Horse Fair Nancy Petriak has contacted Shann about the Appaloosa Booth. It would be a shared booth between WApHC and BlackHawk Regional clubs. Cost will be between $400-$500 Board felt it is our responsibility to participate since this directly falls within our clubs mission statement and accountability to promoting our breed Motion: To participate and co man this booth provide by Saundra; Stephanie provided 2 nd : All were in favor 3. How do we get more help from Members? Suggestion to take membership list and assign names to each board member to personally reach out to via or phone to ask for participation as a board member or help at one of our shows/events in Sign up records will be kept to track 4. Changes to Regional Show Bills: To fashion it after the Gordyville USA show s format so that Non Pro, Youth division classes will not be held back to back Shann to edit our spring show bill from 2010 for 2011 in this manner and we will review and approve at our next meeting Next Meeting: 1/13 7pm via teleconference (which will be published on the Yahoo site)

Duke Ness has contacted Tiffany stating he will be in WI this summer and could possibly be available to judge; He has both his POA and APHC cards. Shann to contact him Decision made by Board that if this show is not combined with the POA club; WApHC will still hold a fall regional show on this date and location. However, we would look into co-hosting a show with the buckskin WI organization as that is also allowable by ApHC. Futurity Eric volunteered to assist Shann with this; He will research and get as much information as he can and collaborate with Shann. Shann asked if he could try to find POA/ApHC combined show bill examples Starla motion to have futurity during Aug 6 & 7 show Starla to Chair and work with Linda to update forms and announcement on website Same classes as last year Extend sign-up deadline to March 1 Price to nominate is $20 first payment due March 1, $40 2 nd payment due May 1: Most colorful $15 Will be asking for class sponsorships - $10 per class Old Business: Pizzza Party (2010 Yr end awards & 2011 General Membership Meeting) o Dates either Feb 9, Feb 19 or 26 Shann to finalize and put notice on yahoo WApHC Board Member site for nomination and vote o Date dependent upon ability of Sandy & Kathy Buth to get year- end awards ready; Sandy to confirm with Shann after this week o Shann to check with Kathy Buth to ensure she will be ready by these possible dates. o All you can eat Pizza at 7Lakes in Whitelaw, WI o Banquet room is available on this date o Saundra volunteered to create post card mailing upon locking down a date to announce the banquet and 2011 events o Motion from Stephanie that WApHC charge $5 per person (adult or child) for the Pizza Year End Party and that each individual pay for their own drinks; Saundra seconded; all were in favor By-Law changes o Name change o Proxy board member attendees proxy individual would have to be a regional club member in good standing ; but must still have majority of attendees be standing board members o These recommendations will be reviewed and voted on at the General Membership meeting to be held in conjunction with the Pizza Party year end banquet in Feb (exact date of that party TBD: but must provide 15 day notice of the meeting per our by-laws)

Team Tournament Open Show o Seems to be a lot of interest o Dates are hard; Aug 20 & 21 is only date that might work; but Shann needs to double check with Manitowoc to see if that weekend is available o What about two Thursday night shows: possibly in Fall? Board thought that would be good to pursue. Shann to check dates with Manitowoc County Fairgrounds and report back at next month s meeting. Midwest Horse Fair o Need a show person to work Nancy Petriak to organize the booth: Tiffany said she would contact Nancy and coordinate Horse A Rama o May 7 & 8 o Bill Theil said he would come up and sit in WApHC booth Website / Facebook Page o We believe that Linda will still be our webmaster and host our site o Stephanie went through the site and will work to update forms for 2011 and show dates and work with Linda on updates o Discussed if we should get a facebook page.
