Schwab, became the most accomplished American offshore sailor by being the first to finish in the Vendée Globe. Television coverage increased 155%, and the number of subjects on television was four times higher than in Radio grew 12% in the number of subjects and more than 63% in broadcast time. The European community was especially interested in the last Vendée Globe; the arrival of the skippers at the finish ranked 9th in popularity in the media before subjects such as the new Airbus A380 or the preparation of the referendum about the European Constitution.
