Chairman s Chat Good evening and welcome to Redding Way. A warm welcome to our visitors tonight Kingstonian, their players, management and officials. Tonight s fixture in the Surrey Senior Cup sees us challenge higher rank opposition, something we are becoming accustomed too in recent years. Sutton Utd, Tooting & Mitcham and Woking have all crossed our path and with two narrow defeats and one win I would like to think our chances tonight are pretty good. Take nothing away from Kingstonian who I expect to prove a good test against our new squad, the previous round our visitors cruised passed our league rivals Camberley Town 5-0. Regardless it s always good to play clubs higher then us and adds another tale in our proud history. Last Saturday we recorded back to back league wins with a 1-0 win over CB Hounslow here at Redding Way. With three debutants starting the game I thought overall we played well against a young and strong Hounslow side. We could of had a healthier score line however a combination of post and crossbar prevented that. We also recorded back to back clean sheets, always nice to finish an afternoons work. At time of writing we would of made the trip to Balham on Saturday and the U23s hosted Bromley here at Redding Way, Reading this I am sure you would of know the results. The U18s lost 3-1 at Cove on Thursday last week, a performance manager Matt Cronan was not too pleased about however our young guns are doing well so far this season, long that may continue. Away from pitch matters on Saturday 22nd December we host a Comedy Night here at Redding Way, tickets are on sale now on a first come first serve basis priced at 15. Lastly let s get behind the players tonight and help us pick up a famous victory. Thank you for your continued support. David Congratulations to Nathan Thomas, winner of Player of the Month for October, pictured here with sponsor Nathan Thomas. Nathan has put in a host of Good performances since his arrival at the club in the summer.

Having been in charge for only three games things could not have gone any better, but I am no fool and understand things in football change massively in a blink of an eye.

Manager s Notes: I would firstly like to welcome Kingstonian to Redding Way, hopefully both sides put a good show on for the supporters. I would also like to welcome my new assistant Simon Martin. Having worked with him at the club previously with under 23s Simon is a massive part of what I am trying to achieve this season. Simon no stranger to the club and is well respected in football. Having been in charge for only three games things could not have gone any better, but I am no fool and understand things in football change massively in a blink of an eye. Last Saturday we faced a stern test against an in form CB Hounslow side. I made a few changes for that game bringing in three of the six new signings straight into the side. We started game slowly as Hounslow put their footballing stamp on the game, they dominated possession but they were not putting a lot of pressure on us in front of goal. With them in control of the football it was important we counter attacked well and we did just that having hit the woodwork three times in the first half. Having said that it took defendee Matt Kellet Smith to break the deadlock with a back post header. Matts becoming a real threat on attacking set pieces. Second half was always going to be a tough one because Hounslow came flying out the blocks and gambling on every opportunity they had. But the lads are getting to grips with killing games taking their time in certain situations and frustrating the opposition. But again on the counter we look dangerous. Hounslow pushes and pushed but left the back door open for us on a number of occasions. We had numerous chances to put the game to bed as we created plenty of good chances and on another day we could had scored five or six. We saw the game out and got lucky at the end when Hounslow missed a penalty. But that s football, we deserved the win and we deserved the luck to. Another three points and we are starting to look up rather then down. My senior players have been fantastic of late and are transmitting my messages across the squad Hope you enjoy tonight s game and we get a bit lucky and pull off the impossible. Thank you for your support. Keown.

17/11/18 Knaphill 1 Kellet-Smith CB Hounslow 0 Richard Keown continues a fine start as Knaphill FC manager with a deserved victory at home to CB Hounslow. This follows on from the victory against Ash United and a 2-0 victory away at Camberley Town. There were new faces on show with three debutants in the starting eleven and two more on the bench. All three starters can be satisfied with their contribution as a solid display saw the woodwork struck three times in the opening 45 minutes and there was an excellent performance by the young goalkeeper of CB Hounslow who kept the score down. consistent and reliable so far after been picked on a regular basis. Keown, now assisted by the returning Simon Martin, has tweaked certain things in terms of formation and tactics. He is all for players expressing themselves going forward and creating chances but also expects discipline and organisation when out of possession making them hard to beat. So far so good with 5 goals scored and 1 conceded in three games. Their will be tougher tests to come as the season progresses but for the time being this young Knaphill side are enjoying the ride. The visitors contributed to a decent game playing neat passing football and Knaphill keeper Aaron Holt was also in fine form with one exceptional tip over from a 20 yard effort. The all important goal was expertly headed home at the far post by Matt Kellet-Smith. He was brought back to the club this season and has been very Knaphill Holt, Bower, Collins, Kellet -Smith, Harris, Costello, Aloui, Barry, Thomas, Sheridan, Rapley. Subs Used Hagen-Morgan, Frise, Whiddett.

The development team serves as a gateway into the first team for new and young players and we have had many represent the team already this season. On Saturday, at home against Corinthian Casuals, three new players took to the field along with other recent recruits. Looking to impress in front of our new first team manager the entire squad put in a good shift to take a hard earned point with a 2-2 draw, although conceding with practically the last kick of the game felt in many ways like a defeat. It was pleasing to see one of those new players, Eugene Hagan-Morgan, finish two very well taken goals. I am certain that many of those players on Saturday will be involved with the first team in the coming weeks. They wont be the first that have worked their way from the development team into the first team this season, most notably Nathan Thomas who has gone on to be the current first team top scorer. It is always pleasing to see players progress into our senior team, especially when they take their opportunity and perform well. Results unfortunately have not been so good in recent weeks and we are long overdue a win. The nature of our team, like all other development teams, means that we rarely put out consecutive squads. This plays some part in our results, not knowing how new groups will perform together or who we will be up against. We have however started many games poorly, having to rely on strong second halves to try and make comebacks but ultimately coming up short. This is an area we are looking to improve, no longer giving away cheap goals and starting games with a better intensity. An improvement in this area, together with some new players should see us pick up more points and enjoy a better few weeks ahead.. 15 A very sour defeat to Cove took a massive toll on the U18s with them feeling battered and bruised The atmosphere was not the same in the changing room as it has been all season. With Cove intentionally getting into our young heads it really showed that was the game plan with things even heating up on the side line between the two managers. Benn Watson has been a player that has been talked about a lot at the club as he has shown interest from the 1st team manager. Benn is a naturally gifted footballer and he can adapt into different positions all over the pitch Tom Johnsons absence due to injury has had an impact on our side as we miss his physical appearance and we wish him a speedy recovery.
