LARGEST SINGLE SEASON HOME ATTENDANCE: , dates 5,386 average , dates 5,441 average , dates 5,279 average , dates 5,162 average * , dates 4,878 average , dates 5,079 average *inaugural season 2009 PCL Most Valuable Player: The Pacific Coast League announced on September 4 that Randy Ruiz of the Las Vegas 51s was named the 2009 PCL Most Valuable Player, an honor annually chosen by the League s managers and media representatives he led the league in RBI (106), doubles (43) and extra base hits (70) his (.320) batting average ranked seventh in the league the first baseman ranked fourth in the PCL in slugging percentage (.584) and in home runs (25) Ruiz becomes the fifth player in the 27-year Las Vegas franchise history to win the PCL MVP: OF Kevin McReynolds (1983), 1B Tim Pyznarski (1986), C Sandy Alomar (1988 & 1989) and 1B Phil Hiatt (2001).

2 51 s Briefings: Las Vegas led the Pacific Coast League in team batting average (.290) for the second consecutive season and the third time in the 27-year franchise history (.301, 2008 and.289, 1986) the pitching staff set a franchise record for most shutouts in a season with 11 (previous record was 10 in 2001) since beginning the season at 6-18 (.250), Las Vegas compiled a record of (.542) over the final 120 games. Pink Out Night (June 20): The 51 s organization presented "Pink Out Night" in conjunction with The Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Organization the Las Vegas organization donated a total of $11,400 to the organization ($1.00 from everyone in attendance (8,404) plus $3,000 generated from the jersey auction) 51 s players and coaches wore "Pink Jerseys" for the special game. The Silver State Diamond Challenge (Season Series was tied 8-8): The 51 s and Aces developed the Silver State Diamond Challenge and accompanying trophy (Silver Plate) to add to the excitement of the new intrastate rivalry each summer The City of Reno and all of Northern Nevada embrace the Aces, said Reno Mayor Bob Cashell. We are excited about our inaugural season in the Pacific Coast League, especially the season challenge with our neighbors to the south. I want to remind Oscar that the North won the last time the two sides did battle. the 16-game series concluded on August 30 in Las Vegas since the season series was tied after 16 games, the Silver State Diamond Challenge winner will be determined in true Nevada style with a draw of the cards (TBA) It is great to welcome professional baseball to Northern Nevada and we wish the Aces the best of luck except when their playing the 51 s of course, said Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman. I think this challenge is great for all the baseball fans in the state. In addition to the Diamond Challenge, Mayors Goodman and Cashell have placed their own wager in which the losing city s Mayor will wear the other team s jersey for a full day of city business including a city council meeting. The Mayors have also agreed to the losing Mayor personally donating $100 per game for the difference in wins from the season series to the winning Mayor s charity of choice PCL Hitter and Pitcher of the Week: Infielder Brett Harper was named PCL Hitter of the Week on May 11 and Left-hander Fabio Castro (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 13 IP/0R) was named PCL Pitcher of the Week on May 11 Castro s consecutive scoreless innings pitched streak was snapped at 24.1 vs. Oklahoma City (May 21).infielder Kevin Howard was named the PCL Hitter of the Week on June 29 in 6 games, he batted.500 (12-for-24) with 4 doubles, 2 home runs and 9 RBI infielder Joe Inglett was named the PCL Hitter of the Week on July 6 in 7 games, he batted.640 (16-for-25) with 5 doubles, HR, 7 RBI outfielder Jason Lane was named the PCL Hitter of the Week on July 13 in 6 games, he batted.478 (11-for-23) with 2 doubles, 3 HR, 5 RBI outfielder Travis Snider was named the PCL Hitter of the Week on August 3 in 7 games, he batted.538 (14-for-26) with 7 doubles, 3 HR, 15 RBI. 51 s on Radio in Russ Langer broadcasted 144 games on FOX Sports Radio 920 AM and on via SportsJuice.com. Langer completed his 10 th season behind the mike he is a four-time recipient of the Nevada Sportscaster of the Year award (2003, 2005, 2007, 2008) presented by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association also worked a total of 30 Montreal Expos games during the 2003 and 2004 seasons in 2006, Langer was hired for additional major league duty by the Baltimore Orioles and broadcasted 10 games on a fill-in basis during the course of the season has also broadcasted selected Los Angeles Dodgers Spring Training games in March of 2006 and in Arizona in March of 2008 and with the Toronto Blue Jays in s Manager Mike Basso: He was named the 19 th manager (Oct. 8, 2008) in the history of the Las Vegas franchise ( , 27 seasons). Career Summary: He completed his first season as manager of the 51 s his career minor league managerial record in 11 seasons ( , , 2009) is (.516) and (.470) in two seasons on the Triple-A level (2006, Syracuse; 2009, Las Vegas) has posted a career minor league managerial postseason record of (.563), which included the 2004 championship at Double-A New Hampshire.
