Kannapolis is playing for its second series win of the year after taking the second of three games with an 11-4 decision on Tuesday. The Intimidators and Shorebirds are both 4-2, tied with Greensboro atop the Northern Division of the Sally League. Kannapolis will face Delmarva just five days from now when the Shorebirds make their first visit to CMC-NorthEast Stadium of the year. Intimidating Starter: Euclides Leyer, 20, makes his second start of the year and seventh with Class A Kannapolis after finishing 2012 with the Intimidators. The right-hander took no decision at Lakewood in his season-debut, allowing a run on four hits over 5.0 innings. Last year, Leyer went 2-1 with a 5.02 ERA (16 ER/28.2 IP), limiting opposing batters to a.250 average. He did not face the Shorebirds in his time in the South Atlantic League last season. Dealing for Delmarva: Parker Bridwell, 21, makes his second start of the year for the Shorebirds after spending last season with Delmarva. He went 5-9 with a 5.98 ERA in 23 games (22 starts) with a 1.62 WHIP in 2012, appearing in four games (three starts) against the Intimidators, going 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA. Kannapolis hit.307 against Bridwell and walked as many times as struck out (14) over 20 innings against him. Baltimore selected Bridwell in the ninth round of the June 2010 draft. About Last Night: Kannapolis pounded out 15 hits en route to an 11-4 victory at Delmarva on Tuesday. Six Intimidators recorded multi-hit games as the Michaels Marjama and Johnson paced the team with three hits each, and starting pitcher Myles Jaye picked up his second win of the year, limiting the Shorebirds to two runs over 5.0 innings, striking out five and walking two along the way. Jason Coats tripled and drove in three runs, and Kale Kiser added a pair of RBI to bring his league-lead to 11 ribbies on the season. King Kiser: No. 9 hitter Kale Kiser continued his hot start to the season, going 2-4 with a run, two RBI and a double. The leftfielder leads the SAL in RBI (11), is tied for the league-lead in doubles (4) and extra-base hits (5), ranks second with a.526 average (10-19), on-base percentage (.577) and slugging percentage (.842), is tied for second in hits (10), and is tied for third in total bases (16). The switch-hitter has driven in a run in five of the Intimidators six games this season. Myles Ahead of the Rest: Kannapolis SP Myles Jaye is tied with Greensboro s Dane Stone with a SAL-best two wins on the season. Jaye earned a victory on Tuesday, limited the Birds to two runs over 5.0 innings while striking out five. He ranks third in the SAL with 10.0 innings pitched and is tied for first with six walks. Dirtbag Doin Work: Catcher Michael Marjama is off to a hot start this season, batting.400 (8-20) in five games, tied for seventh in the SAL in average. He is also tied for third for lowest TPA/SO ratio (23.00). The White Sox selected Marjama in the 23rd round of the June 2011 draft out of Long Beach State where he hit.290 (63-217) for the Dirtbags. K dator Doubles: Kannapolis doubled four times in Tuesday s win at Delmarva, giving the Intimidators 17 on the season, one less than league-leading Charleston. Kale Kiser is tied for the league lead with four doubles. Can t Catch Kanny: Intimidators leadoff man Micah Johnson drew a walk to open Tuesday s game then stole second and third, giving him Sally League-best six stolen bases on the year. Teammate Adam Heisler, the Intimidators No. 2 hitter, swiped a bag as well on Tuesday, his fifth of the season, second-most in the SAL. Tribute to Bob Seger Night: Forget those Hollywood Nights and spend an evening in Kannapolis on Thursday as the Intimidators host Bob Seger Tribute Night.
