RAY MATTER Tonight the Rays begin a season-ending 6-game homestand, hosting Miami and first-place Toronto for 3 games apiece the Rays were off yesterday after a 3-4 road trip winning 3 of 4 in Boston, then getting swept in Toronto over the weekend the Rays yielded 20 extra-base hits to the Blue Jays over the weekend (7, 7, 6), their 2nd most ever in a 3-game series they allowed 21 XBH from April 7-9, 2000 vs. CLE the last time they allowed at least 6 XBH in 3 straight games was May 12-14, 2009 at BAL/vs. CLE. The Rays finished with a road record, ending a streak of five seasons ( ) with a.500 or better record on the road that had been the longest active streak in baseball. This 3-game set with Miami is the Rays only break from the AL East out of their final 23 games on the schedule.
