OPENING DAY ODDITIES Yesterday 3B Evan Longoria hit his third career Opening Day home run (also 2010 vs. BAL and 2012 vs. NYY), passing Ben Zobrist and Gerald Williams for the franchise record. The Rays have still never been shut out on Opening Day, in 18 games only six teams have longer current streaks without being shut out on Opening Day. RH Steve Geltz relieved RH Chris Archer and struck out all four batters he faced he became the first pitcher since records are available (1914) to pitch more than 1 inning and strike out every batter he faced on Opening Day.
