RAY MATTER In last night s series opener, the Rays were held to one hit in the 3-0 loss to LH Danny Duffy and the Royals the lone hit was Desmond Jennings leadoff double in the 8th they were only 6 outs shy of being no-hit for the sixth time in club history it was the first time they were shut out on one hit or fewer since Aug 15, 2012 at SEA, in Felix Hernandez s perfect game, and first time at home since June 15, 2011 vs. BOS it was the eighth time the Rays were shut out this year, first since July 22 at OAK, and first at home since April 15 vs. CWS (44 home games in between) the loss snapped a season-high-tying 4-game winning streak. The Rays are 8-6 over their last 14 games with a 2.50 ERA (126-IP, 35-ER) following their worst-ever 3-24 stretch that sent them from (5.5 GB) on June 16 to (19.5 GB) on July 16.
