The sector experienced a 37% increase in property crimes. Seventy-one property crimes were reported compared to fifty-two during this time frame in Our Neighborhood s Carillon Carytown Colonial Place Country Club of Va. Huguenot Malvern Gardens Mary Munford Monument Ave Museum District Sauer s Gardens Southhampton Stadium Stonewall Court Stony Point Strartford Hills Three Chopt Univ. of Richmond Westhampton Willow Lawn Willow Oaks Wilton Windsor Farms Oxford During September and part of October, Detective Patrick Ripley, was involved in the investigation of four young males years of age. The group had worked together in Richmond and Henrico during the summer and into the fall committing a host of crimes from breaking into vehicles to using stolen credit cards. Detective Ripley conferred with the Sector Prosecutor, Julie McConnel, to charged the suspects with 52 indictments. The indictments will be presented to the Grand Jury in November. The work of Detective Ripley and the arrest of the four males helped to keep property crimes in Sector 311 from escalating. Congratulations to Detective Ripley for a job well done. Captain Horn and Chief Bryan Norwood Norwood As the holidays approaches, please remain vigilant in utilizing crime prevention techniques. The most important thing you can do to avoid from having your vehicle broken into is to remove all property from your vehicle or lock it in the trunk. Please feel free to contact me to discuss any issues or concerns you may have in your neighborhood. Sincerely, Lieutenant Michael L. Stith ( ) address: Michael.Stith@richmondgov.com Office:

He displays a genuine concern checking up on victim s welfare and always searches for new information that might solve the case or alleviate problems for the victim. One of the most significant arrest he made occurred on September 27, Officer Sacksteder was searching for a robbery suspect and located him in the 300 block of North Sheppard Street. Upon approaching the suspect, a brief foot pursuit ensued. The pursuit lasted several city blocks before he was able to run the subject down and placed him into custody. The suspect was positively identified by the victim, who was robbed in the 3000 block of West Grace Street. It was later determined the suspect was also involved in a second robbery that occurred minutes apart from the first one in the 3200 block of Park Avenue.

13 EIGHT HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS 1. Avoid allowing your children to go to homes where the residents are not know, and avoid homes that don t have on outside lights as a sign of welcome. 2. Children should carry a flash light or glow stick after sunset, and travel in a group with pref erably adult supervision or at least an older responsible teenager. 3. Choose costumes with light colors and/or reflective tape. 4. Children should be instructed not to eat any treats until they can get home and have it exam -ined by an adult for tampering. 5. Only unopened candies or treats in its original wrapping should be consumed. If your child get sick, call your family doctor or the emergency room immediately and save all wrappers. 6. At all times, watch for traffic and avoid walking in the street whenever possible. 7. If your child is wearing a mask, make sure that the eye holes are big enough to see not only in front, but peripherally as well. 8.
