2 Audax Calendar This the page to which Riders refer the most on our website, planning their entire year, personal commitments and training around our calendar! Spend time creating it thoughtfully!

3 Audax Calendar The Calendar submission is an essential part of a club s preparation for each year of riding. Bear in mind the Audax Calendar year starts on 1 st Nov any year and ends on 31 st Oct of the next year. SR and other awards have to be earned during this period Calendars for the following year are submitted between July and mid sept. There is no minimum requirement. The maximum is 24, and new clubs may not organize 1000 km and more in the first year. Once calendar submission is closed, dates may only be changed in extenuating circumstances The Audax India Calendar is submitted to Audax Club Parisien (ACP) which then publishes the International calendar for the following ACP year.

4 Calendar Design Deciding the dates Comprehensive Calendar Design should take into consideration 1. Seasons 2. Local calendar Festivals, Other events that may affect participation 3. Regional, neighbouring club BRMs that your Riders may be attending 4. Big events like 1200s 1400s and Fleche that your members are keen to attend. For a Comprehensive Calendar 1. Keep in mind size of Ridership or Rider pool, this may include riders of nearby clubs who frequently ride with your club. 2. Give variation in routes, terrain, challenge level 3. Overlapped rides advantage of shared support if it is one or two/disadvantage if you have too many rides on same day is that the riders get divided and it means an increased workload anyway. 4. Too many rides in calendar advantage of choice for riders/disadvantage too many choices means less riders each brevet. 5. Keep the calendar efficient and sustainable, reduce possibility of too many changes

5 Calendar Design Deciding the dates Comprehensive Calendar Design should take into consideration 1. Each Brevet distance acts as a training for the next one. 2. This is particularly important for new riders 3. Starting the new year with 200 km and having each of the next distance brevets spaced 2-3 weeks after is a great way to ensure that riders achieve their SRs smoothly. 4. It is always a good idea to have a few extra 200s and 300s since these have much higher attendance. 5. WRT budget also, 200s and 300s help subsidize the expenses of conducting 600+ rides. 6. Qualifying for PBP, in PBP year which requires SR series to be completed by May- June. Hyderabad calendar below has a good flow from , well spaced to allow recovery between each brevet.

6 Calendar New clubs keep in minimalistic Overall Participation and efficiency is bound to reduce with all distances clubbed together Efficient calendars ensure very high participation. Chennai had amongst the highest overall mileage with just 11 brevets in the year.

7 Calendar Clubbing all distances on one date means that riders will be unable to ride different distance over the months. And even with 2 600s in the year, this calendar does not allow riders to complete even one entire series in their own club. Clubbing all distances especially right at the start of the year is not only inefficient it doesn t serve the riders. Offering 6*600s but in a calendar designed in a way that barely allow a rider to complete the entire series twice, is more work than necessary for organisers.

Opportunity for riders to finish 2 SRs without going out of Pune. Overlap of only 2 distances, designed to double numbers NOT divide existing rider pool. Additional 200s in summer and monsoon also for theme rides, like night brevet or monsoon mtb brevets.

9 Calendar The riders have a large, diverse choice across the country.

10 Organising Brevets is no small task! It is one of responsibility and while enjoyable, is still demanding! The more efficient your calendars are, the better you will be able to manage the brevets!
