1 Bank of New Zealand Corporate Challenge Dear Friends and Riders, The Home of Cycling would like to invite you to participate in the inaugural Bank of New Zealand Corporate Challenge. This unique event offers your company a terrific team-building opportunity as well as the chance to put your corporate logo in front of the 2,000 regular users of the Avantidrome. It gives your employees the opportunity to use a world class facility, see what track cycling is all about while also taking part in an exciting team building activity. Finally it s a great way to socialise and compete with other companies proving who rules the track! The Bank of New Zealand Corporate Challenge will ultimately pit teams against each other in Italian Pursuit races. The Italian Pursuit format features two teams lined up on opposite sides of the velodrome pursuing each other over four laps. The lead rider of each team drops off after each lap, leaving only the final, or anchor rider for each team, to finish the race against the clock and/or the other team. After six weeks of team training sessions teams will compete in a Time Trial event, where each team rides off, individually, against the clock to post a time. These times will be used to establish divisions of four teams and ride-off pairing for a Grand Final Night. Teams will ride against all three other teams in their division on Grand Final Night. NO prior racing or track cycling experience is needed to compete, as the Avantidrome will provide the track bikes, coaching and training time for each team. Teams train one session per week for six weeks before the Time Trials and the Grand Final Night a week later. A variety of practice/coaching times are available from early mornings (6am), to evenings and weekend sessions. Training commences the first week of October and ends with the Corporate Challenge Grand Finals on 22 nd November. The entry fee for each team is $1,000. Teams must include at least one woman and can have up to six riders although only four, including at least one woman, must take part in each race. We look forward to being part of this great event. 2 Program Information Sheet The Inaugural Corporate Challenge, sponsored by the Bank of New Zealand, is scheduled for 22 nd November The Home of Cycling invites local businesses and organisations to participate in a night of racing that is designed to be fun for all. Track bikes, coaching and training time is provided for each team in advance of the Bank of New Zealand Corporate Challenge Grand Final Night. Teams will be allocated one training session per week (before or after work or weekends) for 6 weeks prior to the event but can purchase additional training sessions at a discounted rate. This is an excellent team-building opportunity for the riders and corporate fans. Team Composition Each team is composed of six members, both female and male, with four required to race. At least one woman must race each round. No previous track cycling experience is necessary! Eligible Riders Each member of a team must be employed by (or be a member of) the company or organisation they are representing. As such they should be able to show proof of employment (or membership) on request. Celebrity / guest riders are not allowed. Race Format Italian Pursuit The Italian Pursuit is a team trial that pits two teams against one another on the track. One team of four riders lines up on the home straight starting from the pursuit line, while the other team lines up on the back straight starting from the pursuit line. All riders will be held and on the starter s gun each team begins racing by forming a pace line to pursue or chase each other around the track. This continues for four laps (1,000m). At the conclusion of each lap, the leader of the pace line drops out of the race until only one member of each team is left. The changeover must take place between the coned areas indicated on the track. The clock stops when the lone rider from each team crosses the line completing the fourth lap. Each team will compete in a Time Trial night ( 16 th November) with times then used to seed all teams and place them into divisions as appropriate. On Grand Finals Night each team will race against every team in their division to find division winners. Trophies and places on the podium will be up for grabs in every division. 3 Entry Please include payment with the official registration form and Team Roster. Your entry fee will cover the cost of track time, coaching, bike use & maintenance, race night and Avantidrome Accreditation. To enter, complete the attached Entry Form and return by NO later than 29 th September at 5pm to either the Avantidrome or Make sure you have ranked your preferred training day and times. Equipment All necessary equipment will be provided, including track bikes and helmets. Riders may not change the gearing or pedals on the bikes, however riders can chose to use bikes with Shimano cleats attached. Riders are welcome to bring and use their own equipment with the following restrictions: The gear must measure 81 (roll out of 6.41m) or less, this means 48x16 or smaller. There will be a gear roll out at registration, if a bike rolls out more than 81 it will not be allowed in competition. Bikes will be marked at registration. Bikes must be standard track racing bikes. Disc wheels or deep section wheels (80mm+) are not allowed Safety approved helmets must be worn Aero bars/clip on bars are not permitted Awards The winning team of Division 1 receives the Bank of New Zealand Corporate Challenge Champions trophy; winners of other divisions will win divisional champion trophies. The awards ceremony will be at the conclusion of racing on 22 nd November. The top teams (in each division) will win trophies and runners-up will receive medals. Tickets Fifty General Admission tickets will be delivered to each team captain at registration to hand out as complimentary tickets for their colleagues and family. There will be a trophy awarded to the Best Dressed Corporate Team Supporters. Additional tickets can be purchased on the night for $5. Signage Each corporation is invited to deliver a free standing company banner to the Avantidrome at their last coaching session. The corporate banners shall be displayed, track side at the Avantidrome, the night of Grand Finals. Signage must be delivered to the Avantidrome no later than 14 th November. Announcements

If provided by the organisation, one 30 second PA announcement about your organisation and/or product will be made during the evening.
