Our expert instructors provide engaging standardsbased, OSHA-authorized training designed to reduce and prevent workplace injuries and illnesses. Students gain skills and competence in OSHA policies and procedures, and best practices for safety and health in their workplace. We train individuals in our classrooms, at conferences, and on-site during customized trainings, making our courses easily accessible to all prospective students. With 31 core courses, 7 safety and health certificate programs, and Outreach Trainer Programs for 4 different industries, we offer numerous training and career advancement opportunities. 2

3 MEET O U R INSTRU CTORS Our OSHA-authorized courses are taught by 18 expert instructors, who are industry leaders in safety and health. Our team of instructors is led by Rick Gleason in Seattle, WA and Harvey McGill in Portland, OR. Rick Gleason is a faculty member within the University of Washington s Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences and has been teaching for the past 15 years as an OSHA instructor and as a lecturer for the department. Known for being a Safety Celebrity, Rick worked for Federal OSHA and the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries as an inspector for 13 years. Harvey McGill is the lead instructor for Oregon-based training for the Pacific Northwest OSHA Education Center. He is also the owner of PAC PRO Safety and Health Services and has worked as a safety inspector, safety manager, training manager, and safety consultant for numerous public and private organizations. Harvey has an extensive background in Construction and General Industry workplace environments and has provided a wide variety of training to various organizations over the past 30 years. Ù New OSHA TRAINING IN SPANISH The Pacific Northwest OSHA Education Center is excited to announce that we now offer OSHA 7405: Fall Hazard Awareness for the Construction Industry and OSHA 7205: Health Hazard Awareness in Spanish. 4 Pacific Northwest OSHA Education Center Safety & Health Certificate Programs We offer seven safety and health certificates for individuals interested in advancing their knowledge and skills in the area of workplace safety. Whether you are looking for specialization or a solid grounding in OSHA standards, we have a certificate program that will address the complex occupational health issues that confront businesses today. Companies that employ our certificate program graduates obtain safety specialists who can develop injury and illness prevention programs to protect the workforce and provide cost effective answers to regulatory requirements. Each certificate has up to seven required core courses selected by industry experts and our experienced trainers. The courses reflect up-to-date content needed by safety professionals. Advanced certificate programs include elective courses that more specifically inform a professional's workplace or career goals. Certificates No Experience Required Are you just starting out in the field? The following certificates do not require experience. Occupational Hygiene Awareness Certificate For individuals interested in industrial hygiene. Provides a basic framework for exposure assessment and control methods and OSHA regulations. Essential for those new to the occupational safety and health field who have been assigned duties in worker health or have industrial hygiene technical responsibilities. Safety & Health Leadership Certificate: Construction Intended for those with supervisory or leadership responsibilities in the construction industry. Provides general information on the safety and health regulatory framework in construction. Safety & Health Leadership Certificate: General Industry Provides information on the safety and health regulatory framework for those with supervisory or leadership responsibilities in the general industry sector. To apply: 1. Visit osha.washington.edu/certificateprograms 2. Select the program you wish to enroll in and pay the one-time application fee $95 3. Submit your prerequisite verification form (if applicable) 4. Register for the required courses 4 Advanced Certificates Construction Safety & Health Specialist Certificate For advanced safety and health practitioners. Provides enhanced understanding of regulations relevant to the construction industry. Upon completion, students become authorized OSHA Outreach Trainers for OSHA 10- and 30-hour Construction Safety training. Prerequisite: 5 years of construction safety experience General Industry Safety & Health Specialist Certificate Provides grounding in regulations relevant to general industry for advanced safety and health practitioners. Coursework prepares professionals to become authorized OSHA Outreach Trainers for OSHA 10- and 30-hour General Safety training. Prerequisite: 5 years of general industry safety experience *NEW* Maritime Safety & Health Certificate Provides in-depth knowledge and enhanced awareness of the issues and regulations in maritime-associated industries. Certificate recipients will become authorized OSHA Maritime Safety and Health Trainers for the 10- and 30-hour courses for shipyards, marine terminals, or longshore operations. Prerequisites: 3 years industry experience in ship repair, shipbuilding, shipbreaking, marine terminals, or longshoring AND at least 2 years of occupational safety and health experience in any industry. *UPDATED* Disaster Site Worker Safety & Health Specialist Certificate Provides training and skills for Safety Officers and supporting General Staff serving in an incident command structure. Augments FEMA training to ensure the safety of workers participating in all phases of an emergency/incident response. NOTE: Requirements for this certificate program are currently under review for new enrollees.

5 Pacific Northwest OSHA Education Center Outreach Trainer Program and Additional Training Outreach Trainer Program Individuals who successfully complete the OSHA Trainer courses are authorized to teach OSHA 10-and 30-hour Construction, General Industry, or Maritime courses, or the 15-hour Disaster Site Worker course.
