BRADBYS Newsletter issue 13 THE MOST WONDERFUL TERM I could burst with pride when I think of what my boys have achieved this term. Whether it is being on time for bed, enjoying No Device Days, school work, sports, Just Dance competitions, House Hide and Seek or just being there for each other as brothers they have all come so far since August! Bradbys is a wonderful home and I feel very lucky that I share it with them. I am excited about what 2018 will bring & look forward to sharing more magic memories the Bradbys team. Mrs Jevons
CAPRENTRY MR Mc S MAGIC MOMENT The Bradbys carpentry projects have begun! We chose a fairly simple project to start our year of carpentry: Bird Houses. The project involved accurate measuring, drilling, sanding, joining with screws, gluing and finally painting. The old adage Measure twice, cut once made sense when the assembly part brought up a few inconsistencies. Matters were quickly adapted to and the results are magnificent. We hope to attract small, finch-sized, birds to the new accommodation and will keep you posted on any new residents making their home in the Village. The Bird House project definitely stands out as being a highlight for me during this term. I really enjoyed seeing the boys develop their creative and practical skills. The older boys working with the younger ones. For many it was the first time using a saw or a drill. Having a tangible result that is also encouraging wildlife to flourish in the village is really cool.
WAR GAMES MR JAMES MAGIC MOMENT On a temperate Sunday afternoon, ten boarders arrived at Combat Zone 62 for battle. After a walk around the terrain, children were given a full safety briefing on hazards and rules. A five meter shooting distance and no head shots were the order of play. Protective clothing and masks were put on, with some boys (Billy) struggling with their jump suit. Guns were then meticulously inspected, polished and loaded. Two teams were going into combat- Bradbys Yellow Boys (Sai, Billy, Cosmo, Ong, George, Raymond and Ganette) versus West Orange Acre (Amber, Nangsel, Zhiwa, Ms Shayne, Khun Gave and Mr. James). In the first game, West Orange Acre s offensive strategy of an allout attack from both flanks worked like a treat. Amber, Zhiwa and Ms. Shayne on the right flank, Nangsel and Khun Gave on the left. Bradbys Yellow Boys tried to counterattack, however, with sharpshooters as good as Nangsel, Zhiwa and Amber, Bradbys were overwhelmed. The final game was a different story. Bradbys Yellow Boys quelled West Orange Acre s offensive strategy by unleashing a torrent of bullets. Sai and Billy terrorised Mr. James, Cosmo and George pelted Ms. Shayne and Khun Gave. Nangsel valiantly tried to hold on, but Bradbys were relentless. Well done all!
EMBRACING OPPORTUNITIES Bradbys boys are excellent at seizing opportunities to try new things. They read together, get muddy on the field playing football, join school sports squads, share ideas during Wednesday presentations and represent Harrow at FORBISIA and SESAC events.
TRANQUILITY ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON On Sunday 8 th October, Bradbys boys went to Rot Fai Park (Railway Park) located a few minutes away from Chatuchak weekend market. The park used to be owned by the State Railway of Thailand but it is now a public park for people to relax and discover some wonderful wildlife. The afternoon started cycling around the 2km perimeter with Aurthur, Ganette and Sai managing four quick laps, before drinks were called. After a short pit-stop, we pedaled further taking in the beautiful backdrop of birds, monitor lizards and turtles. Towards the middle of the afternoon, we rode to the Butterfly Park which was sadly under construction. However, there was a smaller sanctuary nearby that had some amazing butterflies. The boys even did a dab!
