3 DC & CI Report August 2017 We hope everyone has coped with the recent weather patterns soggy paddocks, drenched rugs and don t even get me started on the mud! But spring is just around the corner, only three short weeks and we ll be out of the winter blues and into spring fever, with the sun on our backs and long evening rides, I can t wait! National News - September is set to be a massive week!! The Pony Club National Competition is held Bi-Annually, hosted in rotation by the states; it seeks to promote the highest levels of sportsmanship amongst Pony Club Riders. The 2017 Competition is being held in in Tooowoomba in QLD, which over is 1500km away. Riders have been selected from throughout Australia to represent their state in the following disciplines: Show jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Mounted Games and Tretathlon. Followed by a formal gymkhana and national quiz. Of the 45 riders selected to represent Victoria three of are from SMZ and we are very proud to announce they are all Doongala members! Congratulations to Emma Cameron and Cody for being selected to represent Victoria in the National Prince Philip Mounted Games this competition will be run over two days with teams completing in over 28 different games testing skill and discipline of both horse and rider. Congratulations to Sophie Myszka and Speak of the Devil and Keely McGovern and Apache Knee for being selected to represent Pony Club Victoria in the Tretathlon division this competition requires rider to swim 200 meter, run 3km, shoot a laser pistol at a target 10 meters away and jump a derby course at a max height of 90cm which includes opening & closing a gate.

4 So much hard work and training went into qualify for this competition, not to mention the families and friends who have helped out. Good luck ladies and ponies!! Werribee Ride With Elegance Sep Entries are closing for Werribee HT, I am aware of two riders who have already entered Rachel Riddle & Nicolette. Check out our Facebook page to get a group together. Good luck riders! September Rally We have the vet coming for our annual check-up, vaccines & information session, there will be a booking sheet at the meeting to fill out. SMZ Games, Flat Teams & Musical Teams Saturday 15 th October Southern Metro Zone will be holding its state qualifier at Bunyip Pony Club. This is a fantastic chance to ride in a team event and represent our club. It is a fantastic day of excitement and the potential to represent our zone at State level. The sections are Team of Four, Pairs Team, Musical Team of four and Games team of seven. If you are interested there is more information available on the SMZ website and we will be talking about it at rally as the club must submit entrants. October rally We are having dentist James Harvey coming for check-ups for $60, there will be a booking sheet at the meeting to fill out. Doongala Show Jumping October 29 th we will be hosting our annual show jumping competitions, please be sure to block out both Saturday 28 th & Sunday 29 th of that weekend in your calendar to help our club with vital fundraising to help improve our facilities.
