I am sure you would all like to join me in thanking Carolyne for all her work and commitment over the last few years, but we are not losing her as she is staying on the committee, I am glad to say, so will be a big support in the coming months. We have lots of Training, Rallies and other activities planned for the next few months which I hope everyone will find there is something for them. If you feel we are missing something please call or me or any committee member, or if you would like to be more involved with something please say. We are all here to help but your support is essential. For those of you who don't know me I have two children one which is in the East Devon Pony Club and one who competes in British Showjumping. I have been an Instructor for many years in the area and was on the committee many years ago. I would like to encourage an all inclusive atmosphere within the club with all welcome. We have a fantastic committee who are very committed and give up a lot of time for the club so please support them in any way you can. Look forward to meeting you in the coming months Jill Hill

2 Team Show Jumping Team Showjumping competitions have been few and far between this year. However, the Easties made the most of the Taunton Vale PC Team SJ event at Pontispool in October. It was lovely to see some new members joining the teams too. We entered strong teams in four of the six classes held on the day and were delighted to win 3 classes! It was a fantastic day with East Devon members taking home a haul of super rosettes for individual and team placings, dominating the competition with well ridden rounds, all were turned out immaculately and had great team spirit. Winning Teams were Class 3 The East Devon Sapphires Bethany Reed, Emma Preger, Rosie Varley & Ben Davies. Class 5 The East Devon Rubies Caitlin Astley-Jones, Chloe Howard, Georgie Conneeley & Sophie Griffin. Class 6 The East Devon Rubies again! Well done to all of you that competed. Halloween Party 2013 Our first annual Halloween party was an absolute hoot! Expertly arranged by our Social & Junior Committee, we had it all...costumes, fantastic decorations, music, games, ghost stories, tons of sweets, pumpkin soup and the scary, Terror Trail! Everyone made such an effort with their fancy dress and looked amazing! Take a look at pics! The Junior Fancy Dress Prize was won by Humphrey Parker, 5, and Dracula s Bride, Makindi Trim won the Senior Fancy Dress. Looking forward to the next one!

3 Christmas Show The Christmas Show had a change of schedule this year. Alongside the usual show jumping classes we included some fun dressage classes and a horse & hound class which were all really good fun. All who came left laden with chocolate, rosettes and big smiles! A big thank you to Bev, Libby and all the committee members who came to help throughout the day. Joke Box A. 4 TEST TRAINING & RESULTS Our members achieved much success this year with The Pony Club Tests. These tests are designed to improve members knowledge of Pony Care and Riding skills. They are a great tool to measure your progress and the higher level tests (B & above) contribute towards BHS Exams and UCAS points so are well worth doing! Pony Club tests are entirely optional so full credit is given to those children who attend the training sessions and put themselves forward for the exams well done! D+ and C Test training began back in October with the Examinations taking place over the Christmas break with a 100% pass rate AMAZING! Some you may remember Gemma from Intensive Camp at Easter last year but for those of you that don t, here is some background. A highly experienced Instructor, Gemma holds the BHS I qualification and has a Post Grad in Animal Physiotherapy. She has been Lecturer at Bicton College for the past 8 years and previous to this, taught at Millfield Prep School. Gemma won BHS Young Instructor of the Year 2008 which is a fantastic accomplishment. Specialising in Equine Biomechanics and Movement along with a proven track record in training the next generation of riders and instructors, makes her a perfect choice. Flatwork/Dressage rallies are for all levels and abilities so please come along and give it a try. AGM & Prize Giving Saturday 8th Feb! Our big night of the year is nearly upon us and we hope to see as many of you as possible at The Blue Ball, Sidford on Saturday 8th Feb. 7pm start. This night allows us to review 2013 and recognise the children s achievements during the past year. Its also a great opportunity to find out what is planned for the year ahead, voice your thoughts or ideas, catch up and meet old friends and new. The buffet is also very nice! Its free to attend and everyone is welcome!
