7 THE ALBRIGHTON HUNT BRANCH OF THE PONY CLUB 31 st January 2015 Dear Members, Parents & Friends As a committee we try to organise a varied programme of events and it was great to see the majority of activities in the winter programme so well attended and also not to have the weather causing rallies to be cancelled. The only event not well attended were the Equitation Cups (combined training). We have a number of cups which have historically been awarded for Equitation classes so if anyone has any suggestions as to how we can make this event more appealing please let a member of the committee know! Already our mounted games team has been out representing the Branch at a competition. This is a new team who have worked hard under the guidance of team trainer, Louise Ellis and acquitted themselves very well at their first competition. Also congratulations to Alexander Howard who recently won the Area 10 Triathlon qualifier (juniors) and goes forward to the Triathlon Championships in March at Milton Keynes. Rory and Helen Howard do a great job of organising shooting training for Tetrathlon and Triathlon, coordinating competitions and are always willing to give guidance on any aspect of this challenging but fun sport. With the spring fast approaching people are turning their attention to getting out competing. The Branch we will be sending teams to the various Area competitions in the summer so please talk to the team trainers: eventing Sylvia Farmer, show jumping Jonathan Rogers, dressage Bonny Williams, mounted games Louise Ellis, Tetrathlon Rory Howard and team training co-ordinator Jane Rudd, if you are interested in being considered for teams or have any questions. We ask for suggestions for activities and one request was for a junior camp. This will take place at the end of July by kind invitation of Hannah Lloyd (Connie s mum) at Kemberton Riding School. Another suggested activity was a racing rally so we have arranged to go to Wolverhampton Racecourse to watch the resident trainer work his horses before our members have a chance to go onto the racecourse on their ponies. Please keep the ideas coming in. This is my sixth year as DC, a role which I have thoroughly enjoyed and has been a privilege, but I feel it is time for someone with fresh ideas to take over as DC to ensure the Branch continues to move forward. Therefore I shall be standing down at the end of 2015 and the committee will be looking for a replacement. After 8 years as assistant DC, Gaye has also decided to stand down at the end of this year. Gaye has done the most wonderful job as assistant DC, as well as many other roles on the committee, and on a personal note I cannot thank Gaye enough for all the support and help she has given me, as well as to the Branch.
8 Steve Baxter is nobly taking on the role of Child Protection/Safeguarding Officer from Gaye as well as taking on the task of website administrator. Steve has new ideas to improve the website, some of which are in place already. Sally Hunter (Alissia s mum) has kindly agreed to join the committee and take over from Steve as Junior Parents representative. Another new committee member will be Jennie McLaughlin (Olivia s mum), who has kindly volunteered to take on the role of Rally Co-ordinator from Gaye. Having done a brilliant job organising our show jumping competition for a number of years, as well as being the Senior Parents representative, Louise Aston is standing down from the committee this spring. Thank you so much for all your hard work Louise. I am delighted to say that Liz Scott has kindly agreed to join the committee and to take over from Louise as Senior Parent s representative. I wish all three new committee members the very best in their new roles and thank you for giving up your time to help the Branch. I appreciate there will be some major changes to the committee over the next twelve months, but rest assured the committee always has the Branch s best interests at heart. Looking forward to seeing you all over the spring. Best wishes Suzie Gosling District Commissioner
