1 NWPC Spring 2012 Rally Programme RALLY TURNOUT FOR YOU AND YOUR PONY RIDER Members are expected to wear a white/pale blue shirt and pony club tie Pony club sweatshirt or Hacking jacket. Cross country shirts may be worn at cross country rallies Cream or beige jodhpurs Pony club badge with felt if applicable when wearing jackets Jodhpur boots short or long and clean Long hair should be tied up and a hair net worn Jewellery must NOT be worn. Newly pierced ears can be taped but NOT when competing in area competitions The correct standard hat is mandatory and must be tagged Hat silks can be black or navy Members are encouraged to purchase a NWPC rain jacket but any dark plain outer coat is acceptable Members should look tidy, shirts tucked in, collars done up and tie tightened to the collar Long sleeves should be worn for all jumping activities PONIES Numnahs and girths should be brown, white or navy. Any piping around the edge should be the same colour Tack should be clean and fitted correctly. A pony with badly fitting or dirty uncomfortable tack will not be able to work and perform well It is important that your pony is fit for the activity you are attending, and that their vaccinations are up to date A full list of what to wear for training sessions, badge rallies etc is on the Parents Info page of the website. Beginners and experienced players are welcome but it is not suitable for lead reins or nervous under 8 s. There will be a taster session suitable for lead reins at a later date. This rally is aimed at new members of any age who have joined since September 2011, particularly those who have not attended any rallies. It gives you a chance to meet other new members, have your questions answered and have your riding assessed! Friday 6th April - Galloping Rally - 2pm To be held at Thornton Chase, Ettington, Stratford on Avon, CV37 7PN This rally is aimed at children who are happy and competent to ride at speed in the open country as well as on the all-weather gallops. The ponies should also be reasonably fit! The aim of this rally is to teach children how to get a horse/pony fit and how to ride them safely at speed. A demonstration will also be given on the correct way to saddle a horse/pony that is going racing. Please do not feed haynets to your ponies for at least 1 hour before the rally start. 3 Tuesday 10th April - Cross Country Rally - All ages To be held at Lyneham Heath Farm, Lyneham, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, OX7 6QQ This is aimed at children confident of jumping 2 9 or higher and riding safely in the open. Another cross country rally for younger or less confident children or ponies will be held at Easter, but at the time of going to press has not been finalised. Body protectors must be worn and no fixed peak helmets. 5 Eventer Training Rally Monday 13th February Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex, Willoughby, Rugby, CV23 8AJ This is a chance to train over a full indoor showjumping course and an arena cross country course at three heights: 2 3 to to Each group of riders will consist of a maximum of 6. It is anticipated that each jumping phase will be of a similar format starting with a course walk with an instructor, followed by a chance to jump a round, receive feedback then jump the round again. Entry costs: 10 for both the showjumping and cross country or 6 for one phase only. Entries need to be in by 3rd February at the latest. Times will be allocated and put on the website by 9th February. Please send to Ali Alison along with form below Organiser Ali Alison: Mob: , Hillside Cottages, Langley, Stratford upon Avon, CV37 0HW This is a training rally for everyone, from those hoping to ride in area teams, to anyone who has never tried a competition before. There will be show jumping and dressage, you can just ride one if you prefer. We will start the day with the higher levels first. Dressage Choose which test you wish to ride from the list below, if you have never ridden a test before we will have people to read the test for you so that you won t get lost. The judge will judge your test then will give you some help and ideas on how to improve your marks and then you will get the chance to ride the test again and put ideas into practice. Show Jumping You will be given a time to walk the course which will be done with an instructor then you will get the chance to ride the course. The instructor will then give you some ideas and help on how you could improve your round and then you will get the chance to ride the course again. You can only enter at one height. We are starting at the highest height and if you have three stops you will have to retire but will get the chance to ride around the course at a lower level.
