As a reminder, the branch can now accept payment by BACS for rallies and trainings. Additionally, cheques may still be accepted. If you wish to pay direct by internet banking our details are as fol- lows:- Bank Acc: Sort Code: If paying by direct transfer, please include the member s name as reference and your reply sheet to Natalie Massey. If paying by cheque, then please send cheque and reply sheet by POST only. As normal, there will be NO late entries. Tack & Turn Out From October at our Rallies our instructors will be judging on the best turnout out in every group. At the end of each year an award will be given to the best turned out overall. Please look on the main pony club website under tack & turned out and you will see what you need to do to make sure you and your pony are well presented at all times. will be sent out shortly with all the criteria. Newsletter Ideas What would you like to see on our newsletters. Maybe a kids corner were some of our members write about the experiences and fun they have had at a rally, camp or a competition.. Maybe a young Equestrians Corner. Let us know your ideas as we want to make our newsletter big and better for all our members. Mounted Games We have had a few Mini Medley rallies over the last 18 months and they have always been well attended. Fun is had by all at theses rallies. In 2018 we would like to put a mounted games team together that will represent our branch. If this is something that you would like to do or just want to do it for some fun. Please tick the box on the reply sheet and mounted games sessions will be put on.

3 Page 3 North Staffordshire Hunt Pony Club Newsletter Drill Ride/Musical Ride Presentation Evening New to thus quarter are the introduction of drill riding sessions. The concept was introduced at Senior camp and was well received. Its such a good way of developing team work, your horses rhythm and your concentration whilst having lots of fun! We would love to work on this through the next few months in order to put together a musical ride team for the PC National Championships in The sessions will be lead by coach Lucy Bexon who is very experienced at co-ordinating drill rides from her previous posting as a Sgt Major within the Royal Horse Artillery. Drill ride is open to all members that can walk and trot off the lead rein. Looking ahead a musical ride team will be required to walk trot and canter in an arena together in costume to music. Members can start to think about the theme they would like ahead of the Champs. Creative seamstress parents please let us know who you are! Our presentation evening is on Friday 10th November at Broughton Parish Room at 7pm. Disco and Cottage pie. Ho Ho Ho Shelly Cook Agnew Vets Equine First Aid Talk We are very lucky to have a vet on board in our Pony Club and will be talking to us all about all our Equine veterinary needs over the coming year. Shelly Cook will be talking to our members and parents about Equine first aid on Friday 17th November at Equestrian. What to do at home, what to do when out competing and travelling. Latest information about wound management, types of injuries and how to treat them. When to call a vet and what to do whilst waiting for the vet. Find out the difference between fact and fiction! Shelley Cook joined Agnew equine in 2014, having spent 3 years working in a practice in Anglesey North Wales. She enjoys all aspects of Equine Practice, especially Performance issues and equine medicine. Shelley has a solid grounding in horses as she grew up riding her family s horse s and ponies with the local pony club and hunt. She also worked in the breeding side of the racing industry in Ireland, before becoming a vet. Shelley lives with her husband Mark and their spaniels Eithin and Riley, who are often seen navigating her to calls.

If you are unable to attend an activity that you have booked please contact Julie as soon as possible as there is often a waiting list and your place can be used by someone else and you may be refunded. CREDITS- will only be given for cancelled activities IF replacement found, OR if passed by the DC (Julie) in cases of serious illness/injured member or pony/horse, wherever possible we request at least a weeks notice. Mounted Rallies contact Julie for more information. These rallies are mainly based around flatwork, show jumping, cross country and dressage. They are suitable for all PC members, and will be targeted towards the riding element of Pony Club Efficiency Tests. Therefore, members will be grouped into similar age and ability. ests_and_achievements/efficiency _tests/ Mounted Games Mounted Games are great fun in our branch for both Senior and Junior members, come along and have a try with sessions for all sizes and abilities. More members needed for teams to compete against other Pony Clubs! Stable Management Training/Efficiency Tests Stable Management Rallies (unmounted) These rallies are suitable for ALL PC members, and will be targeted towards the care element of Pony Club Efficiency Tests. Therefore, members will be grouped into similar age and, sessions last for either 1 hour or 2 hours if taking an Achievement Badge. Badges will be studied/tested/awarded at each 2 hour session. tests_and_achievements/ efficiency_tests/ There will be a sliding scale of charges, dependent on the level of tuition required (see reply sheet for details). For younger members, stable management will be run alongside our mounted games sessions as normal. For our members working towards D+, C, C+ and B tests separate sessions will be run in the evening for 1.5hours UPDATE Sessions for stable management over the next few months are at Lonford Farm. Additional sessions for all abilities will also be run alongside mounted rallies, together with the evening sessions. The stable managments sessions at Longford Farm start at 6.30pm - 8pm. Winter Training Sessions We have put together some winter training sessions over at Rodbaston once a month and the odd few at Reaseheath over the Autumn and Winter programmes. The training sessions being held at Rodbaston are Show Jumping Lessons with Hannah Jackson. Theses lessons will start at 6pm to 9pm. There are limited spaces as we are sharing theses lesson here with the West Midlands Pony Club. * 6pm 60/70 * 7pm 80/90 *8pm 90+ The winter training at Reaseheath on Thursday 23rd November evening (6pm to 8pm/1 hour session) is a grid work rally wit Kerry Owen. The winter training session on Thursday 7th December is a Dressage/flat lesson. (6 to 8pm/1 hour session)

11 Instructors Information Coaches/Instructors Vicky Gilby is a BHSII and Pony Club A test holder. Vicky has successfully competed at advanced and FEI level eventing. Vicky teaches on a freelance basis and has previously been a pony Club Chief Instructor prior to running a busy livery and eventing yard. Helen Elston BHSAI int SM, is a previous member of North Staffs Pony Club and is also a B Test Examiner. Helen was the chief instructor for North Shropshire Pony Club for many years. Helen is like a Pony Club encyclopedia! She enjoys coaching riders at all levels from Lead Rein to Open level. Jon Rogers UKCC3. Jon is a well known and popular coach within the West Midlands Area. He coaches private clients and for Pony Club on a regular basis. Jon regularly holds Show jumping, Cross Country and Arena Eventing clinics for all ages and levels of experience. Victoria Nicholls North Staffs PC Rally Co Coordinator is BHS UKCC and Side Saddle Association instructor currently working towards her BHSI. She had competed in all affiliated competitions and has evented at CCI level. Jo Titterton North Staffs PC Chief Instructor UKCC L2 and Equipilates Affiliated Instructor and Biomechanics Trainer. Qualified teacher in further and higher education. A fun and creative approach to teaching all ages, levels, abilities and disciplines, with a particular interest in dressage, training and competing herself to Prix St Georges. Additional specialist areas include rider alignment on and off the horse, helping all riders achieve their correct position and understand the impact/influence they have on their horse or pony. Samantha Adams is a BHSAI and has regularly coached for our Branch. Samantha is a former Pony Club Member who has passed her AH test. Samantha is a positive and enthusiastic coach, who in her spare time is having success with her Blue Cross rescue ponies. Kerry Owen has both her Masters degree and BSc (hons) degree in Equine Science. As well as being a qualified teacher and BHS AI instructor. She has worked in the equine and veterinary industry all her life, being fortunate enough to do that in both the UK and abroad. Kerry has previously worked for Olympic show jumpers, veterinary practices, stud farms, riding schools and is currently the Curriculum Manager for Equine at Reaseheath College. Kerry owns two horses that she enjoys in her own time. Hannah Jackson BHS Intermediate Instructor and UKCC Level 3 British Show jumping Coach. Hannah coaches private lessons and clinics as well as Riding Club and Pony Club riders with all levels and abilities catered for specialising in show jumping. Hannah has the knowledge and experience having competed in BS to a high level on Junior Nations Cup teams as well as at HOYS and RIHS and still competes regularly. Lucy Bexon BHS IT, Accredited Professional Coach, Assessor of competence in the workplace, Certificate in teaching in the lifelong learning sector. Lucy has spent the last 15 years in The Military, for the majority of this as a rider, trainer and instructor in The Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery. She has a diverse background of competing for the Army including Showjumping, Point to pointing and Eventing. A highlight, winning the military class at Royal Windsor Horse show and being presented by HM the Queen. An impassioned coach always encouraging students to forward think and reach their goals.
