The weather has yet again influenced the competition scene but we did manage to hold our Spring Hunter Trial albeit an Arena Hunter Trial. The day was freezing but the course that was built for us was superb and really made the riders and horses have to think. People were very grateful to be able to get to compete and thoroughly enjoyed the day. A big thank you to the Junior Committee for braving the elements and being a very efficient arena party. The AGM was held in February. It was lovely to see so many members there, would still like to see some more parents! Well done to all prize winners that evening, keep up the good work. The show jumping teams continue to be successful, it was a shame that the last weekends event at Stockland Lovell had to cancel as the arenas were under water! Do remember that we are holding our own Team Show Jumping competition at Bicton on Monday 27th May. We should be basking in sunshine by then hopefully. It would be great to have as many members as possible having a go on that day, there are classes for juniors and seniors. Our Intensive Training camp is nearly upon us, I do hope that the weather warms up next week for those of you who are camping. Members who are coming to Junior camp can at least go home to a warm bed! Finally, the Junior Committee are holding an Easter Egg Hunt on Monday April 1st. Open to all, please support them and go hunting for chocolate! Happy Easter Carolyne

2 Class 2 Individual Winner! Megan Trott Team Show Jumping Report The Easties were in action again during the February half term with the first Team SJ event of the season. Yet again all our members did incredibly well and we came home with plenty of rosettes for our efforts. We started the day with an individual win from Megan and Izzy Whiting with a 5th in Class 2. This was swiftly followed by a team 1st and 3rd in Class 3 which was fantastic! We were struck with a few cases of 4 fault itis in the following classes which made for a lot of oohing & ahhing but East Devon still walked away with Team 2nd and 5th in Class 5, individual placings for Chloe Howard and Lauren Sanders and Class 6 brought us Team 2nd and 3rd with Caitlin and Georgie both being placed individually. What was lovely to see was the team spirit and encouragement shown by our members and parents, our club really stood out from the rest on this level so well done all and here s to another great season ahead! We have a whole host of activities planned throughout the year to suit all levels and interests so please get your subscriptions in asap to make the most of your membership. Our events often attract in excess of 300 competitors not to mention their families and supporters that come to watch. 4 Spring Hunter Trial Due to the rather annoyingly wet weather we seem to be constantly battling, our Spring Hunter Trial was changed from the XC course into the Main Ring at Bicton Arena. This worked brilliantly and where as other events were cancelled due to the wet ground conditions, we were able to run and everyone that came seemed to enjoy it. Our members competed to a really high standard but the Overall Best East Devon Member of the day went to Millie Quinn who was riding her new horse Lulu. Well done Millie! Tet/Tri Report Things have been quite quiet on the Triathlon front competition wise now the winter league has finished but we have had 4 new members join the shooting practice on a Monday night at Sidbury Rifle Club who are keen to get out there and have a go! Scott Hill has joined us as a Senior boy and has competed in 2 tris so far, travelling down to Cornwall last weekend to compete - now that's dedication!! We have 3 members going to the Tet camp being held at Pontispool next week (we did have 4 but poor Lauren Sanders is out of action for a while :-( ). This camp runs biannually and is for mini members moving up to junior level so concentrating on shooting with one hand and jumping up to 3' xc - big jumps! Good luck to Ben, Natalia and Georgie, hope you all have a great time at camp and it's not too cold!!!!. Joke Box A. Who wrote the book 100 mile Horse Trek? SECOND HAND SHOP There are bargains galore to be had in our Second Hand Shop at the moment! For members that are looking to get stocked up for the season ahead, please check out the section on our website. Our nine members hope to act as a link between the most important people in our club that s you, the members of EDHPC and the club organisers. We are here to listen to the concerns and wishes of our members and help make our Pony Club even better. Not only this, we are taking on the role of improving the social aspect of our club, as well as running some fun events and activities (watch this space!). We have listed our addresses above, so if you should have an idea, concern or query (no matter how big or small), we are only a message away. Fun Fact: I have a scar on my hand in the shape of a W from when my hand went under an escalator when I was 5 but this is still the only way I can tell which way is left; so if you ever ask me to track left, don t be surprised if you see me fiddling with my hand!
