1 Kardella South Pony Club Welcome to 2008! Happy New Year to everyone and a happy one it s going to be with E.I finally on it s way out pony club can start up again!!! Sadly with have lost a few members coming into the new year as have a lot of clubs due to EI.. Our first rally back on February 3rd is an important one. Not only are we getting our riding back into the swing of it but we will have the final meeting before the all important annual fundraiser Gymkhana. All active member families are expected and will be drafted to assist with the setting up and running of the gymkhana. There will be an all in working bee on the Saturday afternoon where at least 1 member of each family is asked to attend. It will be all hands on deck on the Sunday and per last year we will be allocating jobs. If you can t make it it will be up to you to find someone to take your place. We can t run this with out all your help so please try to make time on these two days. Instruction Bec Fillipin is sadly no longer with us this year, she has decided to join Adult riders which unfortunately meet on the same day. With the decrease in members we are left with 11 participating members. Although the ages vary the skill level of all of our remaining members is around the grd5-4 area. At this coming rally the groups will be put together as we have a few members away at shows. In the future as our numbers increase we will find another instructor. We have also the possibility that Sarah Joyce may return at some point when she is not busy at Uni and an exciting guest instructor when our numbers are up at the next rally. If you have any suggestions for an experienced instructor to add to our rallies please let me know!! Attendance Notification Reminder A reminder to all members that it is required by our club that you let us know if you can t make it to a rally. As well as just being courteous this is so we can organize instructors to suit the number attending. If for any reason you can t make a rally please let either Andrea on or Kelly on know. Thank you for your continued effort to make our little club GREAT! Lunch Orders If you would like to purchase lunch an order needs to be placed with Andrea in the morning. Thank you Equine Influenza Information Information current as of: Friday, 14 December :15 PM PCAV rallies, activities and events will resume from 1 January 2008 subject to Victoria remaining Equine Flu free. The PCAV, HRCAV, EFA and VAS Ltd collectively expect to resume mounted equestrian activities from January Our clubs/committees/members may commence this planning phase.

2 Alexis competed at the Ringwood Show this time on Princess. She did some freshman's showjumping rounds and also came 4th in her pony club mount. Well done Alexis! Kelly van den Berg on her mare Wilcree Gem competed at the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre in an open state EFA dressage competition 2 weeks ago. In a field of 34 she placed 3rd overall in her first test and in a field of 32 placed again 3rd overall in her second test. A great result for both! Kelly and Gemma competed last week at the Peninsula Cup and Equestrian Life magazine Championships placing 7th in 1 test just missing out on the prize money and 10th in her other test both out of a field of 30 riders. The next stop on the tour is AEA Burong at Winchelsea. The Ringwood Royal The Ringwood Open Show was being referred to this year as the Ringwood Royal as the who s who of showing turned out in force for one the first big events back since the outbreak of EI. Our very own Adelia attended with new pony Owendale Roundabout and they were a force to recon with, taking out a place in every class! For Adelia and pony this is a warm up for the Summer Royal in March. Adelia and Harry are being sponsored by van den Berg Equitation with show preparation advise and support by Ruth and Jess Sargant. Good luck Adelia! Last week Adelia took Owendale Roundabout back out to Werribee for the WPNEC Open Show doing well again and getting her face on the showie pages of Horsedeals mag! Junior Committee! The junior Committee is looking for a member to continue its meetings as chair person. If you are interested in this position please let Kelly know.

ALL Members wishing to use the arena must inform Andrea by phone that they are coming! All parents, friends etc. are to pay the normal arena hire fee ($10.00 per hour per rider/horse or part thereof) or purchase one of our yearly arena passes (works out to about $3.00 per week). Any other person must first sign a risk waiver form. This includes friends riding your horse! A $10.00 fee will apply if manure is not collected and the arena/parking area is not left clean. Please remove your cans/ drink bottles and other rubbish. This is NOT BEING DONE. Pls note also that NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED Chambons, draw reins, side reins and other illegal and dangerous artificial aids ARE NOT PERMITTED at either pony club or when hiring the arena and riders horses/riders are not covered by insurance if these artificial aids are used EFA / FEI rules (EFA/FEI rules & regulations).

The Colleen Kelly fundraiser was a great success. The evening lecture was most informative and fun where all learnt so many new things about our balance and riding posture from one of the worlds leading biomechanics lecturers. The Auction was a huge success for the club thanks to the many members that drummed up fantastic prizes, we raised $ in the Auction and an additional $ in door takings! Thankyou to Andrea for organizing the night along with the food. The riding clinic the next day was a big success too with riders coming from many other clubs. Much was learnt again and lots of fun had!

5 Australia Day Ride a Thon The Australia Day Ride a thon was a huge success with a great turnout. The weather was just right and we all had a nice ride along the rail trail to Koonwarra. On arrival we had a yummy BBQ set up by Andrea ( thankyou Andrea ) of sausages, burgers and cold drinks and sat under the tree s relaxing. The kids raised a HUGE $600 dollars for the club and Brooke won a fantastic purple saddle bag for raising a whopping $200 for the club. Well done again to everyone that participated and thankyou to the extra adult helpers on the ride! Out on the trail!!!
