Safety is paramount and a collision should be avoided at all times Before entering the warm-up area make sure the gateway and immediate track are clear Riders should pass left shoulder to left shoulder when on the track When not on the outside track, e.g. on a diagonal line, riders should give way to horses on their left The more progressive gait has priority on the track Halt should not be on the track Walk should not be on the track and does not have right of way Trot has priority over walk Canter has priority over trot Lateral work has priority over all paces When circling, anticipate your return to the track so as to not stop the flow of other riders Mounting, dismounting and gear adjustment should be done off the track Consideration should be given to behavior of other horses in the arena that may upset your horse It may be necessary if your horse is upsetting others to leave the area If a horse is upsetting the majority, an Official should be sought to request that horse s removal for safety reasons Horses are to be lunged in the designated lungeing arena. 13 Show Jumping OPTIMUM TIME. Optimum time is a method used to determine the winner of a Showjumping event without expecting the riders to ride too fast to win the class. The purpose is safety for less experienced riders and horses, which allows novice horses the time needed to be able to jump in a balanced form and to develop its technique before having to do it all at a faster pace. This theory applies to the development of riders as well. Optimum time is a time calculated to give the time allowed window, to achieve the outcomes written above AM7: A competition not against the clock but if you have a clear round, you then go straight into the jump off without leaving the arena. Other rounds will be placed according to penalties. Eliminations: Third (3rd) refusal incurs elimination in all grades After a refusal, if a competitor redoubles or changes his efforts without success, or if the horse is represented at the obstacle after stepping back and stops or steps back again, this is a second refusal; and so on. Fall of horse or rider. Starting before the signal is given and jumping the first obstacle. Taking more than 45 secs to jump the first obstacle after the time of the round has started. Jumping an obstacle in the wrong order. Jumping an obstacle in the wrong direction. Not going through the starter flags and jumping the first obstacle. Not crossing the finishing line between the flags mounted in the correct direction. Not stopping when the bell is rung during the round. Conditions of entry Show jumping maximum 2 rounds per horse You can only ride in Either ARCA or Unofficial Classes Show jumping each height will be allocated a timeslot it will be up to you to ensure you make it there to do your round/s during the allocated time Riders must wear current approved safety gear at all times while mounted on their horse/pony Approved helmets in accordance with the new EA helmet rules must be worn You will be gear checked before entering the ring ARCA club uniform if riding under ARCA Club Show Jumping attire as per EA rules You may only enter and compete in two consecutive levels You will be gear checked before entering the ring Good horsemanship and sportsmanship will be encouraged at all times Well behaved stallions are welcome but must follow EA stallion rules No dogs allowed No other horses/riders allowed on grounds unless they have entered Please ensure all hay and manure is removed before you leave All riders must sign a waiver at the club house before mounting their horse
