The Moose Lodge is having a Halloween Party - Admission is Free! When: Saturday October 30th at 7:00 PM till close Featuring: Costume Contests, Door Prizes, Games, Jell-O Shots and More! This event is also another Membership Drive Party so bring a guest and sign them up for reduced Dues! Qualifying members will also be recognized for their support of this year s project to purchase two 14-passenger for the Mooseheart campus - made possible by State & Provincial Associations and the WTOM. Sponsor 25 Members during the period of June 1, July 13, 2013 and you will receive a commemorative custom-made Mooseheart Centennial wristwatch by Skagen. (Available in limited quantities only to qualified sponsors). OTHER ANNUAL RECOGNITION PROGRAMS Sponsor 25 or more candidates from May 1, April 30, 2011 and earn membership in the Director General s Circle of Distinction or the Women of the Moose Heart of Distinction. You will receive special recognition for achieving levels of 25, 50, 75 or 100. Super Sponsors of 100 or more applications will receive transportation and five nights accommodations at the 2011 International Convention in Anaheim, California.

We have a number of exciting events coming up beginning in October and carrying on all the way into next year. Watch your Moose call and lodge posting closely so you don t miss out on these exciting upcoming events. In October the lodge will hold its Mooseheart Founders Day Open House and Woodstock Community Hero Awards. Tickets for the Woodstock Hero Awards are on sale in the social quarters for just $15.00 which includes dinner and the awards presentations. We will also be having a guest speaker from Mooseheart as well. In honor of Mooseheart Founders Day moose members from across the country are to gather in their lodges to celebrate the anniversary of Mooseheart s founding by James J. Davis. Our lodge has chosen October 23rd to do that, and will be asking all moose members and the local community to join us in our celebration as we honor members of our community with the Hero Awards. We need a big turn out as welcome in our community to our lodge. Please consider getting a ticket to this special event. We also will be having our Adult Halloween Party and Children s Halloween Party in October as well. Can t what to see all the ghouls and goblins! Come on out and have a great time at your lodge. We will also be looking for high school students Freshman through Senior to take part in the Youth Awareness program. By attending a one day event, and preparing at least 3 Kids talks afterwards, you are eligible for one of 5 different scholarships with the highest being $12,000! Plus two students from Illinois will win an all expense paid to trip the National Youth Awareness Congress which takes place this year in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2011! This opportunity is open to all students Freshman through Senior class no matter if their parents are Moose members or not. This is open to the public. So as you can see the fun and opportunities for Moose members is just beginning. So watch your Moose call and lodge posting and come on out and have fun with your fellow moose members! Speaking of which they are hosting The Alden Hebron Giants for their home coming on October 2nd at 1:30. The lodge has now added two more TVs We urge all our members to visit at least weekly, for the latest news on Mooseheart, Moosehaven, Moose Charities plus updates on fraternal activities, sporting events and other breaking news from around the Moose fraternity! We have several main events coming up in the future the adult Halloween party on October 30th which is also a membership promotion night and our ever popular Silvermanes Turkey dinner on November 6th. Members say the meetings are boring but if we had more attending we would have input and more conversation. Its only two meetings a month. A very enjoyable potluck luncheon was enjoyed by all. Thanks Ron for the very tasty sloppy joes. The regular meeting was opened at 1:00 by President Ron Haldeman. Pledge to the flag was said. A prayer was offered by Phyllis Close in the absence of Chaplain Neva Boyce. Minutes of the August meeting were read by Secretary Peg Plimmer. Treasurer s report was given by Treasurer Loretta Bottenfield. Both were approved as read. A letter from the Family Activities Committee was read asking for a donation to the holiday party. It was agreed to give them $ Old business, Peg Plimmer has sent to Moosehaven asking for a sunshine grandparent. (A reply came on Thursday that we now have a gentleman, Ed Lyons) Peg Plimmer said that she will be collecting donations for sunshine boy Chon and sunshine grandparent, at October and November meetings. Sue & Bill Lock, FAC Co-Chairs Woodstock Blue Streaks Pancake Breakfast The second annual Woodstock High School Blue Streak Wrestling benefit pancake breakfast will be held in the dinning hall of the Woodstock Moose on October 24th from 8:30am to 11:30am. Do you remember how awesome this was last year? 180 people attended. The Streaks will be serving eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, toast, juice, milk, coffee and of course PANCAKES. All this food for only $6. Come on down and support our wrestlers, have a great meal, and meet the boys as they serve coffee and buss tables. GO BLUE! Mark Montgomery Kids Halloween Party It s that Spooky time of year! Ghosts and Goblins will be at the Woodstock Moose Family Center on Sunday October 24th at 3:00pm til 5:00pm. The fun starts with a costume contest with prizes for different age groups. We will be serving Mummy Dogs, Crunchy Fingernails and Bloody Punch. Entertaining us will be our favorite Petey the Clown. Everyone is sure to have a good time so don t miss the fun! The sign-up sheet is in the front hall at the Moose. We will be asking for your Moose card at the door. Only your children or grandchildren may attend the children s parties. We are looking forward to seeing everyone! Bring your friends, family, co-workers to this great feast and let the lodge do the cooking and cleaning. Turkey will all the trimmings plus salad bar and all those great pies. Board of Officers Moose Founders Day/ Community Hero Awards On October 23, 2010 our lodge will honor the great works of James J. Davis, on what is known as Mooseheart Founders Day. Around the week of October 27, more than a million men and women of the Moose fraternal organization will come together in their lodge home to celebrate the 104th Anniversary of the Moose enrollment of James J. Davis the man who created the modern Moose Order and who founded Mooseheart, an Illinois community and school for children in need that has offered a fresh start to thousands of kids. We will hold an Open House for all members, perspective members, and the general public in conjunction with the 4th Annual Woodstock Community Hero Awards. This event is open to the public and will honor local heroes in our community, and some of the people who make Woodstock. It will also be our opportunity to show the community the good work we do, not only in the community but also across the country. Tickets for the event will be $15.00 and will include dinner. There will be a limited number of tickets sold for this event so be sure to get them early. All proceeds are split 50/50 between Moose Charities & the Woodstock Food Pantry.
