1 DHS BRAG ON OUR STUDENTS February 2014 Dulles DECA Sponsor: Sharon Fleischauer Dulles DECA did a fabulous job at District 3 Competition. There were over 800 participants at the competition on Friday January 17, Dulles sent 25 competitors to District competition and 22 of our 25 students will advance to State Competition. Congratulations to DECA winners: Norman Wu, Serena Thomas, Simran Thakkar, Danish Sayed, Niti Sawant, Srishti Sanghvi, Marissa Pozzi, Noureen Parpia, Resmi Nair, Olivia Kuilgowski, Simrin Khan, Pooja Kaur, Iris Karami, Priya Kane, Conchita Joseph, Joanne John, Iqra Dhanani, Kinjal Desai, Dhwani Dawar, Utsav Baxi, Jasmine Al Ghazzawi, Deepali Mittal DECA also participated in the University of Houston Sugar Land Competition on January 9 th, and the following DECA students were able to secure (5) medals: Pooja Kaur, Nishat Chawala, Dhwanai Dawar, Danish Sayed, and Simrin Khan. GO DULLES DECA!!!
2 DHS All State Choir Member Sponsor: Jennifer Marrero Viking Choir is very happy to announce that they have an All Stater in the choir. Emily Wood is 1 st alternate and Ryan Reyes is a member of the Texas All State Men s Choir. He will be going to the TMEA Convention February 12 15, 2014 and his concert will be 5pm on February 15. Ivan Guzman also qualified to audition for State. All 3 students did an amazing job with their auditions. Choir Director, Jennifer Marrero, is immensely proud of all her students that take on this level of competition and I hope you are too. DHS Band Sponsor: Joe Pruitt Please congratulate sophomore Sarah Gregory for being named to the Texas All State Band this past weekend! Sarah will attend the Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention in February and participate in the all state groups with some of the best young musicians in the country! NHS Announcement Sponsors: Ruth Jeffery & Caroline Novark Tis the season of giving! At the December National Honor Society meeting, NHS members kicked off the holiday season by making flower pens for Oyster Creek Manor, a new nursing home. Members also donated and wrapped Christmas gifts for children at EA Jones Elementary. Together, National Honor Society seniors collected over $ worth of new toys! Due to their donations, they have brought smiles and joy to many this holiday season. Great job NHS!
3 Dulles Boys Basketball Academic All District Coach: Mike Carrabine Congratulations to the following students who made Academic All District: Kush Modashia, Doc Archibald, Cade LaBolt, Koby Sokoloff and Dylan Jacob Viking Football Coach: Jim Creech The Viking Football team hosted their annual banquet Wednesday, January 22 and this was Coach Jim Creech's final banquet at Dulles. He gave a very warm and tearful speech to all the boys saying how much he loved working with them and teaching them the sport of football. The team will miss you Coach Creech. Also, thanks goes to Steffany Leach, the "Team Mom" for the past three years. She has worked very hard and she too will be sorely missed! Several awards were given to players as well. They competed against teams from Lamar Consolidated, Fort Bend, Katy, Spring Branch, Pasadena, Alvin, and Humble. Please congratulate the following students: Shreyas Balaji placed 3rd on the Novice written test. Archibald Cruz place 10th. The Novice team of Shreyas Balaji, Zaid Baig, and Aneesh Mahodaya placed 1st in the programming contest. The Novice team of Archibald Cruz, Joathan Li, and Brian Vu placed 6th. The Advanced team of Christian Onuogu and Victor Zeng placed 3rd.
