S. T. C. and H.-S. C. Dramatc Clubs Present "Mr. Prn Passes By" on Frday, November 21 * Have you bought your tcket yet? To what? Why, how absurd to ask such a queston! "Mr. Prn Passes By" s to be presented by the dramatc clubs of S. T. C. and H. S. C. Frday, November 21 at 8 p. m. If you have not bought a tcket you'd better do so wthout delay and have t reserved at Whte Drug Company, too, or else just consder your self lucky f you fnd standng room. Freshmen of S. T. C. take the lead- ng femnne roles. Imagne that! And do they put those clever lnes ove: n a bg way? Just come and see for yourself. You'll never regret t, or be dssapponted ether. That's a promse. The faculty of forgetfulness combned wth the narrow-mndedness of an Englsh gentleman tend to keep up the nterest from begnnng to end. Really I'm as excted as a school grl about ths play. Why you could- not pay me to stay away. Do you know there has been rumor of a bgamst n t. Even the menton of the very word s enough to make one st up and take notce You'll surely get your share of that Frday nght, too. I stll can't get straght that bgamst proposton. Is Olva or s she not a bgamst ' That s the queston. Be sure to see the play and fnd out for yourself! In one of the hardest fought and most exctng games played ths season, Westhampton College hockey team defeated S. T. C. by the score of 1-0 here on the athletc feld Saturday afternoon. Grabbng the ball at the take-off quckly drbblng t down the feld to ther goal area. Westhampton completely took the S. T. C. team oft* ts feet and made a goal n the frst few seconds of play. Wllams,, fast Westhampton left nsde, gave the shot that sent the ball scurryng across the lne nto the goal and whch made the S. T. C. team and ts backers stare n amazement. After the frst shockng moments of play, the S. T. C. team ralled and gave the vstng team a real fght. Most of the play, after those frst seconds, was n the S. T. C. area. Westhampton was forced to play the defensve sde. Drbbles and passes by the S. T. C. forwards carred the ball wthn the strkng crcle a number of tmes, only to be knocked outsde or lost to Westhampton for a free ht. E. Seay, Westhampton center half, showed good form n strkng these balls out of S. T. C. area. The Westhampton goal keeper showed especally good play n kckng and knock-.11 out those balls that rolled wthn her defensve area. The ball stayed on the left sde of S. T. C.'s end of the feld most of the tme, forcng Crute to play exceptonally hard. She showed good form and fast work n her drbblng, carryng the ball down the feld a number of tmes. THE ROTUNDA, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 1930 OVER THE TEACUPS Oh, may I have a pece? It looks so good. Cnnamon toast and tea? Goes rght to the spot. You're a love to have t when I'm here. Much Ado 'Bout Nothn' It would gve us new lfe to see Alle Olver cheer up and be more lke Alle Olver freshman! Is Martha Sanders all she s cracked up to be? Some people work and accomplsh Tha» remnds me of Prances Raw-! lots. Some people work other people lngs. Z heard her say the other for lots. Some people don't even day she ate about a dozen peces work. and yet she's supposedly reducng. Can't understand some people. A. J. Scott has certanly gotten Speakng of fat. I hear Margaret \ moony lately and she has so much Bowles wore Msse Berner's dress. J opportunty, too. Isn't she Under- evenng dress, too. the other nght. I can't feature t. That's as rdculous as me n Dot Anderson's and that happened. Who s Martha Sanders holdng n now at H.-S.? Seems to me somebody sad somethng about Banke Warren and mother no. I'm sure they must have meant Franke Smoot. How, could I be so dumb? Really, these freshmen are walkng away wth H.-S. and almost everythng. Why, they've even taken possesson of the Dramatc Club. (Yes. just a lttle more tea to warm ths.) Why, as I was sayng, three of the four grls n the fall play are freshmen. I bet they are good even f they are merely freshmen, and certanly ther class wll be behnd them. It ought to. Oh, well, they say every dog has ts day I guess I'm just a scrawny cat. Ths toast makes me want to purr; t's so good. I wonder f Lucy Ann Layne and Nanne Mears ever go to class unprepared lke I do. If they do, they are just good bluffers Where's my lucky star? I guess t fell when t saw my charmng face. Bosh! You know (I've got to have another pece of toast) I wonder f people ever feel as I do I mean n the dnng room. Sometmes I thnk I'll go absolutely crazy when I stop, eatng of course, and lsten to the racket. But I fgure f 699 other people can lve through t. I can, too. I do wsh people would thnk and try not to be so loud, though. I don't beleve so much nose s necessary, do you? Why. I even got ambtous and tred to start a drve for better table manners one day, and then somebody took the corner roll I'd been wantng and wated for and I broke down and took the next best. Honestly f I eat any more toast I'll de. I certanly was stckng my neck out to comment on Frances Rawlngs. If I sad Toodles Booth t mght have been dfferent. Better leave on that. Please come to see me sometmes. The food was grand! When I get a box, be sure to come 'fore t's gone. Bye but don't tell anybody, or you won't even get a snff. You know how t s. I'm gong really now good-bye! GREAT GRANDFATHER GOBBLER Monkeys have often been accused of beng our great grandfathers and many cases of resemblance have been sghted as proof. Beng mstaken for a turkey, throws an entrely new lght on our problems of ancestors. Is s possble that we are descended from the great kng gobblers of the forest? Even the connectng lnk has been found. The frst dsaster of the huntng season resulted n ths new dscovery. One of the hunters mstakng the game warden for a wld turkey flled hm full of shot. Evoluton s an nterestng subject and resemblance plays an mportant part, but then there are tmes and tmes for notng the lkeness. Frankln Younger: "What s the shape of a kss." Jerry Lee: "I don't know." Frankln: "Gve me one and call t square." graduate Representatve? Where do these freshmen get the dea that they are prvleged characters? Wlls, Banks. Sargent. Berner and a few of those we love so much. (Sarcastc? Oh, no!) The freshman class s organzed now. Let's watch them grow. They have to grow together a few can't do t all. Our problems would be solved f cooperaton were every organzaton's keyword. Has Katherne Rtter stopped talkng yet? Sally Russell really s good n the play. No kddn'.... I wsh Ida Trolan would snap t up get pepped you know what I mean?»» The red and whte thnks the green and whte had better take a back seat. Well, tme wll tell Thanksgvng s almost upon us.» Mary Shelton seems to be on the fence about some thngs. We hope she'll do some honest thnkng for herself and come out O. K. * Ths s a teachers college after all, sn't t? I thought perhaps Ktty Waters thought t was a fnshng school. Ddn't our team shne Saturday? Excellent teamwork and how bout our goal keeper? Swell! «If halls are nosy for studyng why don't we do somethng about t? Who makes the nose anyhow?» Why don't freshmen wear ther rat caps? About fve hundred of us would enjoy prayers f the other two hundred would calm down for ten mnutes. We need t, f they don't. Dot Goodloe s a swell grl, hope she can keep up to par all round. THREE YEARS AGO TODAY AT S. T. C. November 19, 1927, proved an unhappy, happy day at S. T. C. I know because wth all S. T. C.'s fghtng, Wllam and Mary beat at hockey 9-4. We were, however, lades enough to entertan the vstors wsely and well. And besdes that, our sophomores came out of ther game of chasng rats long enough to present ther classman, Dr. Walmsley, to the student body and faculty the same mornng n chapel. And Mss Jenne became the advsor of the granddaughters club. (Why the three together, I don't know, but they happened.) Then the dance the Cotllon Club dance took place on that past 19th of November. I wonder what the style was then, t seems so long ago. Now I really shouldn't have sad that because Lz Antrm was there. I heard Dr. Walmsley say the other day he ddn't play tenns any more, but I see he won the champonshp by defeatng Mr. Coyner GREY SKIES AND BLUE Tred dear, Feelng blue. Lttle head bent low- Dampened curls, Weght of worlds Ah! I love you so. Happy dear, Feelng glad Lttle head held hgh- Sunny curls Laughng worlds Sportng n your eye. LOVE AN MUSIC L. M. '32 Love, you can never be expressed. For you my heart cres out, "I can't'' You burn my soul; you fll my breast When asked to rse and musc chant. Ah! Musc, how you thrll my lfe! Enchant me. hold me, rase up strfe. Can I. through you, ease nward pan? I can't yet n my heart you regn. Oh can't! You haunt me lke a ghost You rse before me when I hate you most. You laugh? 'Ts sad to weaken man. He'll learn you vansh wth dawn, "1 can." I can? Oh, yes, I know I can; Can't has not ruled snce the world began. Burst forth; oh musc, from out my soul! 'Ts love whch gves me self-control. I can! The dawn has come at last. You must vansh, can't and vansh fast Never agan must you show your face. For love and musc brng you dsgrace. E. C. HER EYES The clear blue depths of her eyes, The lght of her beautful soul, Reflect the purest love, paradse. Whch leads to that ultmate goal. The sacred purtes beam Too sacred for me to behold. Lest I see God's face, and then de, Nature drops a vel frnged wth gold. Controlled by power of her God The vel slowly lfts from her eyes And down under flower, grass, and sod Are roots of the best that ne'er des. Oh! Why are those eyes so dvne. And why don't I need any ad To nterpret the truths so sublme, That tell us of what she s made? For the eyes are those of a chld Through whch shnes peace from on hgh And reflects the love, meek and mld Of her God, who s always close by. E. C. SCHOLASTIC AVERAGES OF SORORITIES Scholastc averages for sorortes for last year are as follows: Zeta Tau Gamma Theta Mu Omega Delta Sgma Ch that memorable 19th. Wouldn't you love to have seen that game. Wsh they'd do t agan. The whole school seemed to me In a storm over the approachng Thanksgvng, and the Vrgnan staff was takng annual subscrptons. (Isn't that unusual!) The Rotunda staff and the Dramatc Club were feastng and tearng and alumnae were both rasng can. Ths seems a quet 19th compared to that one, but 'twas Saturday and we lost the game.

LOSES TO WESTHAMPTON 1-0 Fast Playng n Frst Seconds of the Game Gves Vctory to Vstng Team Frst Half Contnued from page one As the whstle blew for the end o: the frst half, the ball had been r md-feld and Souders had made a pretty free shot, sendng t across S. T. C.'s 25 yard lne. There was a touch of humor adde:' to the game n ths half for both teams, but especally for the fans. E Seay. Westhampton center half, lost her shoe durng the frst play and went the remander of the half wth only one on. And one couldn't help laughng at Alle Olver n a fght for the ball she sld down, and there she sat for a number of seconds, stll playng, determned to get t from her opponent. Cheers Between Halves Enthusastc cheers and songs were led between halves by Ida Trolan, S. T. C. cheerleader, asssted by Lndsay Whte, cheerleader for the junor class. Second Half The S. T. After the startng whstle, both teams played a "tt for tat" system the ball gong back and forth, up and down the center of the feld, frst one and then the other losng t for a free ht. Olver got the ball, drbbled t quckly nto the strkng crcle, and drove at the goal, only to have t kcked out by the opposng goal keeper. After ths, the Westhampton forwards carred the ball to ther own area and kept t n the space for a good tme. P. Edwards as goalkeeper showed up well n successfully keepng the ball out of the goal. The ball then went from one goal area to the other, nether team beng able to send t across the lne for a marker. A number of tmes the ball went up to the goal post, grazed the outsde of t, and went out. These plays excted the crowd and led to much cheerng and then moanng! Just a fracton of a second before the fnal whstle blew, Crute drove the ball and t went past the Westhampton goal keeper nto the cage. The throng went up n cheers, only to fnd out that the strker had been offsde and the goal dd not count. Both teams played a well balanced game throughout and showed good form and teamwork.
