4 ANNUAL ATHLETIC FEES During the past several years, the MMSD School Board has had to authorize a $ athletic participation fees for all competitive sports and specific surcharges in some of them. Several sports are more costly to run and involve a smaller number of students and they are surcharged at the following rate: Hockey $800 Wrestling $100 Gymnastics $100 Boys Golf $118 Girls Golf $118 In addition, the policy states that families will pay no more than a maximum total of $ per year in participation fees. The surcharge amounts are excluded from that maximum. Athletes who meet certain criteria may apply for athletic fee waivers at the athletic office. The athletic participation fees will be collected after coaches have made their final team selections for the season. Student/athletes who do not have health and/or accident insurance must purchase insurance through the Madison Metropolitan School District in order to participate. The rates start as low as $2.15 for a season for sports like golf and swimming. Football and Ice Hockey top the list at $ for the season. Athletes who meet certain criteria may apply for a waiver for the cost of MMSD insurance. Athletic Participation Refund Policy: Refunds will be issued before the first date of competition for that specific sport. Because the district collects participation fees after teams have been selected, athletes that are unable to practice or participate due to prior injuries, will not pay the participation fee until they are released by their physician for this activity. Regardless of what sport you play, all W.I.A.A. athletes and their parents/guardians must attend the Athletic Code of Conduct meeting. This will be held after the Madison West Athletic Booster Association (M.W.A.B.A.) picnic on Wednesday, August 31, The picnic starts at 5:30 PM on the outdoor basketball courts with the meeting in the Stevens Gymnasium starting at 7:00 PM. Madison West Athletic Booster Association MWABA Memberships are welcome all year-long! Please visit mwaba.org for a brochure and all MWABA information. Regent Home Game Cards Save money and support West athletics! MMSD charges admission for certain sports ($5.00 for adults and $3.00 for Students). This includes: Football, soccer, basketball, hockey, wrestling, and certain invitational meets (e.g. Boy s swimming/diving and boys track & field). You may pay as you go or purchase a West High School Home Game Card (adults only) for $30, or two for $50 ($10 from each card is donated back to MWABA to support West athletics). This card will admit you to all West High School home athletic events for the entire school year without additional cost. Students may purchase an Athletic Pass at registration for $20 that does the same thing for them. The Regent Game Cards are sold by your Athletic Booster Club (MWABA) at registration.
