1 WHS Announcements November 5, 2018 Sporting events today 5pm Field Hockey-Girls Varsity State Semi-finals vs. Broadneck Senior High School State Broadneck HS Admission = $8 under 7 free For up to the minute game/match information, including weather related cancellations or postponements, always visit for the Westminster athletic calendar WHS will be celebrating the accomplishments of those students earning STRAIGHT A s in an excellence Award ceremony held 3 times a year, the first to be held on November 29 th. Only students who achieved straight A s in the 4 th quarter of last spring AND/OR students earning straight A s this 1 st quarter will be recognized. The freshman class will be included only if they received straight A s here at WHS 1 st quarter. Other excellence awards will be given to students that achieve extraordinary deeds in outside school activities such as scouts, sports and academic activities not offered here at WHS. Parents and Teachers. please submit any nominees you would like recognized for consideration before November 15 th. Accepted nominees will be notified. The ceremony will be held during FLEX 9:00 AM to distribute certificates of recognition and will be over within 30 minutes.

2 Congratulations to the Marching Band for their second place finish in the USBands Mid- Atlantic Regionals this weekend. The band had one of their best performances and highest scores in the past 3 years. Excellent job! Want to see some of your favorite teachers compete in a volleyball game against Winters Mill teachers? Come support the junior class on November 14 at 6:30 in the WHS main gym. Admission is $5, and there will be gift baskets raffled. The dance team is also performing. Come join us for this night of competitive fun! Westminster High School s fall production of The Crucible opens this Thursday. Set during the Salem Witch Trials, The Crucible is a story of deceit, paranoia & ultimately the triumph of truth. Plan now to come out to see this powerful show. Performances are November 8 th, 9 th & 10 th. Anyone with questions can contact Ms Purdy. Please turn all forms and money in to Mr. Robinson ASAP. Attention any students interested in joining the Unicef club. Applications are due at our next club meeting, Thursday, November 8. Please bring your completed application to the meeting in Ms. Rambo s room. Also, all monies collected for trick-or-treat for Unicef are due at that meeting, too. See you there! Wednesday night, November 7th WHS is competing against South Carroll in a Buffalo Wild Wings Fundraiser. The school to bring in the most revenue this evening will receive all of the money raised. Come out and support WHS at Buffalo Wild Wings this Wednesday. Spread the word to family and friends and take the coupons your advisor will distribute. From the Counseling Office A representative from Dickinson College will be visiting on Wednesday, November 9:00 AM. Interested students should sign up in the Counseling Office by Monday, November 5th (due to the Tuesday school 2:30 PM

7 A representative from EASTERN UNIVERSITY will be visiting on Thursday, November 9:00 AM. Interested students should sign up in the Counseling Office by Wednesday, October 2:30 PM A representative from Salisbury University will be visiting on Friday, November 9:00 AM. Interested students should sign up in the Counseling Office by Thursday, November 2:30 PM Maryland Farm Bureau 2019 Scholarship Deadline February 1, 2019 The Maryland Farm Bureau will offer five (5) $2,000 Scholarships. Applicants must be high school seniors starting college in the fall of 2019 or full time college students at any community college or four-year institution. Applicants or their parent/guardians must be member of the Maryland Farm Bureau. An essay is required to apply for this scholarship, more information available in the Counseling Office. Athletic Information The class of 2020 is hosting a volleyball game fundraiser to raise money for prom and other senior events. Westminster High School staff versus Winters Mill staff will be competing in a volleyball game in the WHS main gym on Wednesday, November 14 at 6:30 pm. Come enjoy a night of fun! The WHS dance team will be performing, and there will be themed baskets raffled off during the event. Admission is $5 per person, and concessions will be offered during the game. We hope to see you there! Cheerleading: We are going to have open gyms on the 7th, 8th and 12th from 3-4:30pm, so that anyone interested can come in and stunt/tumble before tryouts. Not mandatory but a good way to try new groups/tumbling before tryouts start November 15th.

8 There will be an informational meeting for everyone planning on trying out for indoor track Thursday November 8 th in the 3 rd floor cafeteria during Flex.
