1 Spring / Summer 2013 With spring fast approaching, it s already time for another edition of the Stickney Parks & Recreation program guide. We are continuing to strive to plan new programs to accommodate all ages. As always, if there is something you would like to see in the Village or be involved with, please let us know. Your involvement, is what makes Stickney A Community That Cares Please keep in mind that this is the 100th Anniversary of the Village and that we will be having some additional celebratory events this year. As the planning advances, we will get the information out to the public in a timely manner. Please read through this guide and mark the dates down to these events in your calendar so you don t miss out. Please sign up as soon as possible, some programs fill up fast. 2 Refund Policy: General Registration Information Registration Information: Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis until the program is filled. All FEES and PROOF OF RESIDENCY must be submitted at the time of registration. Registration forms are available at the Village Hall. Hours are 8:00-4:00, questions call Be sure to check out our Community Calendar and our Message Board by calling for new program information and updates that may have been added after the printing of this brochure. There will be NO refunds given after a program has already begun. You have up to one week before the program begins to cancel, in order to receive a refund. You will receive your refund approximately 2 weeks after cancellation. Stickney Recreation Center Rental: The Recreation Center is available for rental to residents and can accommodate up to 150 people. Stickney non-profit organizations & Schools Private Rentals (residents) First 2 hours Each additional hour Police/Security * attendance Persons Persons No Charge No Charge $100 $50 $130 $50 1 officer *when deemed necessary, $25 per officer Over 100 attendance For more information, call the Stickney Parks & Recreation 2 officers at x 510. Kitchen $35 flat rate You will receive a full refund if a program is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. Please allow up to 2 weeks for your refund. Program Cancellation: If any of our programs listed do not meet the minimum requirement, it will be cancelled. Please assist us by registering early for the program of your choice. 3 Spring Break Family Fun and Activity Camps Easter Egg Hunt When: Saturday, March 23, :00 a.m. Who: Fee: Once again it is time for the Easter Bunny to make his annual visit to Haley Park. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt and an opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny himself. The entire family is welcome. Easter Egg Hunt will be for toddlers through 4th grade. No charge. Spring Break Art Mini Camp Looking for something to help fill your staycation this spring break? Join Ms. Angela as she teaches kids drawing, painting and crafting skills. Kids will have a chance to let their creative sides show and express themselves! Baseball Skills Mini Camp Baseball is all about technique, execution and precision, which all starts will good fundamentals. This mini camp baseball clinic will teach your child the very basics of baseball skills such as; hitting, ball contact, stance, throwing, catching, fielding and much more. When: Monday, April 1 - Friday, April 5 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Who: Boys / Girls ages 6-12 Fee: $20 for the week, siblings are $10 Each player will need to supply their own glove and appropriate sports clothing. Basketball Mini Camp This Mini Camp is for the beginner basketball player. This camp will focus on the fundamentals of basketball and will teach your child the basic skills that will include proper footwork, passing, shooting and layups. When: Tuesday, April 2, Thursday, April 4 & Friday, April 5 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. When: Monday, April 1 - Friday, April 5 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Who: Boys / Girls ages 6-12 Who: boys/girls preschool 12 years old Fee: $20 for the week, siblings are $10 Fee: $35 residents / $40 non-residents *all supplies will be provided.

4 Zumba Fitness Feel the Music and Let Loose! Let s face it, working out can be healthy, rewarding, beneficial working out can be lots of things, but it s never been known to be fun UNTIL NOW! Zumba fuses Latin and international rhythms (Cumbia, Reggaeton, Merengue, Belly Dance, Samba, and Salsa, etc.) with easy-to-follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program that will tone and sculpt your body while you get a great cardiovascular workout (and have fun)! This high/low impact class has something to offer for all fitness levels. Burn an easy 600-1,000 calories per class. Come shimmy, shake, and sweat with us to a healthier, happier you! NO DANCE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. When: Mondays, 6:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m Session 1: March 18 to May 6 Session 2: May 13 to July 8 (no class on May 27) Instructor: Christine Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Session 1: March 23 to May 18 (no class April 20) Session 2: May 25 to July 13 Instructor: Angela Who: For ages 13 and older (under 18, must be accompanied by an adult) Fee: $35 resident, $40 non-resident **$5 discount if you register for both days Equipment (not supplied): Wear clothing that allows for comfortable movement Wear athletic shoes (no running shoes) Bottle of water (recommended) Stay Active & Healthy At Stickney Parks & Recreation! Cardio Kick Boxing Try Cardio Kickboxing with Black Belt Tae Kwon Do instructor Grand Master Kidd. This class will help you achieve top-notch physical conditioning, combining the basics of punching, kicking, and boxing movements into challenging aerobic routines for a complete muscular and cardiovascular workout. Along with cardiovascular training, you will do strength training with hand weights. When: Fridays, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Session 1: April 5 to May 10 Session 2: May 24 to June 28 Who: For ages 13 and older (under 18, must be accompanied by an adult) Fee: $35 resident / $40 non-resident *Equipment needed: 5lb weight, mat and water Pee Wee Tae Kwon Do This form of martial arts is known for its kicks, punches and blocks. This twelve week Tae Kwon Do class will enhance physical conditioning and teach selfdefense, self-discipline, selfesteem, self-control and respect. When: Sundays, 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesdays, 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. April 7 to May 19 Who: Boys / Girls ages 7-12 Fee: $90 resident / $100 non-resident

5 Stickney s Youth Sports Play Hard - Have Fun Stickney Youth Football League: Come join the Wolfpack! Boys & Girls 5-14 years of age for football and cheer. Football registration cost $200 & $30 in raffle tickets. Includes: Use of equipment (helmet, pads, etc.) Use of game pants, practice pants & jerseys Jersey (for regular games to keep) Mouth guard (to keep) Socks for regular games & Breast Cancer Awareness Cheerleading registration cost $230 & $30 in raffles tickets. Includes: Top Skirt Warm-up pants Socks for regular games Shoes (to keep) Flag Football registration cost $30 (if you register for tackle football), $60 (without tackle football registration). Season starts April 7 to May 26. Includes: Reversible jersey Mouth guard All teams are age and weight based. Our instructor has a passion for teaching and a gift for helping you take your game to the next level. This camp will focus on basic skills, such as footwork, ground strokes, hand-eye coordination, techniques and scoring.
