3 Food Drive on behalf of victims of Hurricane Matthew: Olive Garden has partnered with us to hold a school-wide non-perishable Food Drive on behalf of victims of Hurricane Matthew, its flooding, and its power outages. Our goal is 100% school participation, which would amount to at least 2,000 pounds (1 TON!) of food! We are asking each 2nd block class to bring in food from now until October 31, 2016, and to build a pyramid out of their class contributions. The class with the largest amount of food will receive a luncheon catered by Olive Garden. THE TIMELINE OF THE FOOD DRIVE IS BELOW (more instructions on pick up will be sent on the 31st): Monday, October 31--An International Thespian Society member will come by each classroom to photograph the students with their pyramids. Tuesday, November 1--A member will bring boxes to your room so that you can box up the items. A slip will be given to you to count your total and record it. Wednesday, November 2--We will come by each classroom at the end of the day to pick up your boxes and the winner of the Food Drive Pyramid Contest will be announced. The winning class can choose to have their lunch either on November 14 or November 15. Good luck to all!!!!

4 Homecoming **All Homecoming events originally scheduled for today, Friday, October 14th have been rescheduled for November 4th due to Hurricane Matthew. The Homecoming events on Friday, November 4th will include the parade, tailgating, events at CFHS and the Homecoming Game. 8 CFHS Parking Stickers Students must have a parking sticker on their car. If they do not have a sticker they may get temporary stickers at $1.00 each. A parking sticker for the school year cost $ Stickers may be purchased at the front office.

11 Random Acts of Kindness Club A new club has been created at CFHS, Random Acts of Kindness Club. Our first meeting will be during lunch in Room A-113 on November 1, This meeting is an interest/informational meeting. The club will be part of the Random Acts of Kindness Organization in which anyone involved will need to create an account on their website, and complete the information to become a RAKtivist. Our official first club meeting will be November 15 in Room A-113 during lunch. 13 SENIORS, sign up today at Attention Seniors!! Just a reminder that next Friday November 4 th will be our annual CFHS College Application Day in the Media Center. Seniors must sign up by Monday 10/31 in order to participate. You can register using this link: Students who were planning to register for 4 th block or who have already registered for 4 th block, you may want to consider registering for a different block. November 4 th is also the day of our homecoming pep rally as well as the group senior photo, both of which will impact 4 th block. If you are already registered for 4 th block and would like to switch to a different period, please e- mail your counselor. SENIORS WILL NEED TO BRING A VENUE TO THE MEDIA CENTER TO SUBMIT APPLICATIONS. Please keep in mind that you are only in the Media Center for a limited amount of time, so it is in your best interest to start your college applications ahead of time and use that day to finish up your applications and take advantage of the fee waivers. Class periods will be shortened on the 4 th due to homecoming activities so PLEASE have your applications completed to the best of your ability in advance. The Panthers were able to take down NMB with a score of 3-2 to end the season with an impressive 17-1 record. Please vote for Meghan DeVaux for player of the week, she led us with another big night last night! We will host the first 3 rounds of playoffs this year. Our first round will be Thursday at 6:00pm against Spring Valley. Please come out and support the volleyball team Thursday night! Cross Country Any student that is interested in joining CF Cross Country team please see Coach Sauthoff in B113 or Coach Marvulli in the PE classroom on the Forest side of campus for details. You must have a current sports physical on file to participate. Cross Country athletes will meet in the athletic hallway every day after school. Practice will be from 4-5:30pm.

19 CFHS Panthers Track and Field Pre-Season Pre-Season conditioning will begin promptly at 3:45 each day and end at 4:30 Grades 9 12 ONLY Meet at the track stadium seats near the concessions Schedule Pre-Season Conditioning will begin Monday 12/5/16 and end Thursday 12/15/16 Conditioning will be Monday through Thursday ONLY: Week One - 12/5 to 12/8 Week Two 12/12 to 12/15 Registration and Physicals Information All potential athletes should have a parent/guardian register the athlete for athletic participation online at: registration.getvnn.com. All potential athletes must have a physical packet on file before participating in any athletic activity. Only physical packets dated after April 1, 2016 are valid for the school year. Submit newly completed physical packets to CFHS Front Office, Athletic Director Satterwhite or Trainer Chiarizio. Students without a valid physical packet on file will not be allowed to participate in any physical activity. Horry County Schools physical packet: Boys Varsity basketball tryouts will begin on Tuesday November 1 at 6:00 PM in main gym, only 11/12 graders should try out for varsity. YOU NEED A PHYSICAL ON FILE PRIOR TO THE TRYOUT DAY TO TRYOUT! Boys JV basketball tryouts will begin on Monday November 7 at 3:30 PM in main gym, JV tryouts are only for 9/10 grade students. 20 Theatre: The Theatre department is looking for interested students with Lighting experience (programming or spotlight) or an interest in learning our system for this coming year. We will be working with students to eventually be fully trained to set and run lights for our future productions. Please contact Mr. Conrad (B-103) if you are interested. Tutoring: ACT/SAT English Tutoring occurs Wednesdays after school from 3:25 to 4:25 in A107 with Mr. Rabon. SAT/ACT Math Math preparation for the SAT and the ACT exams will be offered from 3:30-4:30 on October 20 th and November 3 rd and 10 th. There will not be math tutoring offered on October 27 th or November 17 th.
