4 RANGE SCHEDULE-SEPTEMBER 2014 ON-LINE President s message and range report by: Mike Smith and Paul Williams As you can tell a lot of work has been done at the range. We d like to thank the action pistol people who came to clean and repair the action, high power, and archery ranges. We would also like to thank the personal who worked on the new storage shed, Bill Oalmann, Jan Dennison, Bill Oalmann Jr., and Gene Lofgren for cleaning up the club house, and everyone else who braved the heat to come out and help. We had 48 people volunteer and everyone did a great job. If we could get that kind of response every month think of how much we could get done. A special thanks to Frank Marciano who has really been a great help around the range. He took over the card board recycling and when a young Marine was wounded and wanted to shoot archery Frank built a ramp for her so she could get on the archery range and practice. As always, we would like to thank Al Blackwood, Pat Feighan, Carl Olson, and Joe Iannotti for all their work in the everyday efforts in keeping the range running. We will be opened on Labor Day so our Members can come out and enjoy their holiday, there will be no coupons, or guest. If you are a member you will pay $3.00. If you are not a member you will pay $20.00, active duty personal will shoot for free. No exceptions! The hours will be 09:00 to 13:00. Any range officers who would like to work that day please go on line and sign up or call Mike Smith. I m sure most of the range officers have been told that you now sign up for range duties online. Go to antelopeclub.org and sign up. You can sign up but you cannot remove your name to do so you must call Mike or Paul. For those who don t have access to internet please contact Mike Enjoy the summer and please be careful while coming onto and leaving the range. See you at the range. 8 Events at the WAC Want to Shoot your handgun fast and accurately? Want to learn how to safely draw and shoot on the move? If so, come check out! We have divisions for every gun, from revolver through to open guns. We shoot using USPSA rules and divisions. ( for details.) Monthly Schedule of events- Every Tuesday night: 5 Stages, all divisions. Setup is at 5 pm, sign up at 6 pm, and walkthrough at 6:30 pm. Every Friday night: 3 Stages, all divisions. 10 ARCHERY 2014 Starting on Tuesday night January 28, 2014 members and non members are welcome to participate in one of two archery leagues. The starting time is. Please come a little early to help set up the range. One of the two leagues is a competition league and we will use the 3-D targets. The distances for these targets will be out to about 40 yards. The other league will be a recreational league for new archers or those that need to improve their shooting skills. Targets and distances for this league will be appropriate for the archer. The club now has bows and arrows that can be used by new shooters. If you want to give archery a try, this is an opportunity for you. A recreational shooter can move to the competition league after passing a shooting proficiency test. Archers may use compound or traditional type bows. All arrows must have field or target points, not broadheads. The fee is $5.00. A few times during the year we will conduct a drawing for a cash prize. You are entered into the drawing each time you shoot. Contact one of the discipline leaders for more information. The Tuesday night shoots will continue until late September New To WAC - Cowboy Fast Draw Challenge your friend (or better yet, your enemy) to a showdown, with real six-guns and wax bullets on elect-tronically timed targets. Beginning February 6th we will have practice sessions at six p.m. on the first and the third Thursdays of each month. If you ever felt like trying your hand at fast drawing a real six-gun feel free to come and join us. We have guns and holsters to lend.
