All classes are conducted by fully qualified Coaches with Assistants and Helpers who are at various stages of qualifying. If you have any queries or questions throughout the year, it is preferable that you approach your Team Manager rather than the coach, as she will be busy with the class. All families must be financial from the previous term/year before their child can participate/re-register for this year. As competitions draw closer, coaches may extend their training and/or call a second training. This is at NO EXTRA COST. It is extremely important for the whole team that your child does attend these extra classes. If your child is new to Calisthenics, they are welcome to attend a two week trial. If they choose not to continue no fee will apply. Uniform Uniform will be available to purchase from the club in the 1 st and 2 nd Term. Details on costs of shirts and jackets will follow. There may be second hand uniform available at a cost price. Please ask your Team Manager for details. Please note that club jackets are compulsory COSTUME EXPENSES The following items are performed at competitions Free exercise, March, Aesthetic, Clubs, Rods and the Fancy item. The club owns a range of costumes and pays large amounts of money to obtain them. Costumes are hired out for all items except the fancy item.
Costume Hire The basic total hire cost should not exceed $130. The hire charges are approximately $15 - $30 per costume for all items, except aesthetic which may cost $35. Other charges include $5 for makeup. There are other incidental expenses like purchasing false eye-lashes, lipstick (this can only be purchased from the club due to shade differences), leg tan, wiglets, tan underwear (can be purchased from dance and design in Joondalup), skirts, apparatus such as rods and clubs etc. Please chat with your Team Manager for a rundown of these extra costs. Development and Sub-juniors will not require leg tan. Please be aware that spray tans are not a requirement for any age group and are not recommended by the club. If your daughter has spray tans prior to competitions, the club will not be held responsible for any health risks involved. A $30 costume hire deposit will be included with your 2nd term fee account and the remainder owing will be itemised on the final Club Costume Account in Term 3. Fancy Expenses Each year every team performs a fancy item (e.g. Folk Dance, Calisthenics Spectacular, Song and Dance, Song with Movement, etc). The cost is approximately $30 - $130 and will be yours to keep if the costume hasn t been hired. A $50 fancy costume deposit will be included with your 2nd term fee account and the remainder owing will be itemised on the final Fancy Costume Account in Term 3. CLUB PERSONNEL Our club is run by a committee of parents (volunteers), who meet once every five weeks. All parents are most welcome and encouraged to attend. Please consider helping!! No offers of help are ever refused. Please see the Team Manager at your group for details of committee meetings.
Helping out Parents will be expected to help out at competitions. This may be door duty, curtain duty, canteen roster or other small duties that the club is obliged to support CAWA with. Your Team manager may also give you a roster to support the club at training eg a one and a half hour time slot to be present one date in the term at your daughters training session, so that the Team Manger can be relieved of their duties. You may also be asked to do some sewing or be asked to support at our annual events eg concert. Within the committee, each class has a:- (A) TEAM MANAGER - Liaise with parents and coaches, and notifies parents by /note of all club and coach requirements. Please direct any queries to your team manager who will be pleased to help you. (B) COSTUME CO-ORDINATOR - Liaises with the coaches as to what costumes are required for each routine, fits the girls with costumes for competitions and organises any sewing bees that may be required to make costumes. Please give your full support to these ladies as they work very hard in a voluntary capacity to ensure that things run smoothly for us all and that your daughter is looked after at class and competitions. CLASS REQUIREMENTS Sub-Juniors and above Each child requires their own black leotard, an aesthetic skirt, rod and clubs. These may be purchased second hand depending on availability. Your child will be measured at registration to determine club and rod size (rods are supplied by the club, $15 - $40 for clubs). If you wish to purchase a second hand leotard or a new or second hand aesthetic skirt ($10 - $45) then there may be some available to purchase at the club. You can order skirts and training leotards from the online cali shop at Please see your Team Manager and she will arrange to have your child measured. All classes are closed sessions due to a lack of hall space and to enable the participants to concentrate. However, if you wish to stay on the premises you are welcome to sit in the foyer or the kitchen and have a cuppa (from
time to time there may also be sewing bees all help welcomed). Parents will be able to watch from time to time when the coach arranges a miniconcert in the hall showing their work leading up to competitions. For safety reasons all parents should endeavour to pick their children up on time, from inside the training venue. The club has a register that needs to be signed by parents and guardians, on drop off and pick up. Siblings are required to be over 18, to sign a child out. Once your child steps foot outside of the hall the Duty of Care no longer lies with the club. Please understand that there will be no exceptions and we require parental support in this matter, for the safety of your children. SUMMARY OF EVENTS More details will be given prior to each event. Club Camp A club camp may be organised in April or May to support the girls to grow as a team, bond as a group and have fun with their coaches and assistants. The cost of club camp can range from $30 - $90 depending on accommodation. Development and Sub-Juniors do not attend the camp. A fun day will be organised for this age group. Competitions It is compulsory for all children to attend these two competitions: A) Betty Fitzpatrick Competitions run by the Calisthenics Association of WA (Saturday or Sunday). Usually held early to mid-august, the Intermediates and Senior s may compete on a Friday night. B) State Competitions run by the Calisthenics Association of WA (Saturday or Sunday). Usually held in September. Both these competitions are held at The Swan Theatre in Midvale. Girls may be asked to arrive approximately two hours before competitions to prepare for the event. Car-pooling can be arranged with your Team Manager and is highly recommended. Parents are not permitted in the change rooms before or during the event. The CAWA charges an entry fee of approximately $17 per adult to watch all competitions (school children are free).
All teams, are required as part of training to travel to the Calisthenics Association complex at Midvale for possibly 2 stage practices prior to competitions. Car-pooling can be arranged. Non-Competing Concerts Quinns Family Concert is Run by Quinns Calisthenics Club. Date and venue for this to be confirmed. Awards night The club may host an award night during Term 4. This will be arranged at the clubs discretion, and may or may not happen depending on when the club distributes annual awards. These may happen at the family concert in August. Optional Events A) Graceful Girl Competitions run by CAWA and Hills District Club. (10 years and above). There are two competitions usually held in April/ May. Please contact karla Thompson on if you would like more information on this by mid January 2017 as training for this solo competition commences beginning of February. B) Solo / Duo Competitions run by CAWA. Usually held in November. Please speak to your Team Manager if you would like more information on this. Optional events are an additional cost. A fee is required when your child enrols in these competitions with the CAWA (Calisthenics Association Of Western Australia). Coaches will charge a small training fee, there is also a cost for costume hire or a costume may be made at an additional cost. Your coach will arrange one to one training sessions. Please chat with your Team Manager if you require any additional information. Recommended Programme The Calisthenics Skills Programme is organised by the Australian Calisthenics Federation. The children progress through a syllabus learning terminology and technique. It develops flexibility, co-ordination and rhythm, a sense of achievement, musicality, deportment and poise, self-esteem and self-discipline. Qualified examiners test students in Nov / Dec or March (costs $30- $50). Cali-skill levels are required before children can become coaches.
Cali-skills are taught in fourth term at Quinns District however your child does not have to take the tests. Coach fees and training times are to be discussed with the coach. Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to ask any one of our Committee members or the Team Manager of your group.
