3 SPECIALTY CPS ART ARTventure Art - ARTrageous ART Play with clay, create 3D sculptures, work with watercolor, paint on canvas, make your own unique paints with inks and so much more! All materials and camp tee shirt provided. Jewelry Design Workshop You will learn how to wire wrap with professional tools. Discover your own personal style by creating earrings, necklaces, bracelets and upcycling old treasures into new pieces! STE (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Code to the Future Minescratch Video Game Design Campers will dive into the exciting world of computer coding through Scratch, developed at MIT. Scratch is a block-based application designed to make it simple for anyone to learn programming. Coders create Minecraft-themed projects like an epic ghost busters battle game or choose-your-own adventure story. Minecraft Modding Make the full transition from player to content creator! Designed for quick learners or those with block-based coding experience, campers will learn how to code in Java by making a mod for Minecraft. Through professional text-based coding, create and then craft a sword out of mushy bananas or spawn a flying golden cow. Painting Like the Masters Learn the styles, techniques and biographies of master artists as you create a painting from sketch to finished work. The second week of camp will feature experiences for new or continuing students. Creative Computing Computer Science Coding In this introduction to computer coding camp, you will explore basic concepts of coding and snap together logical statements as you would snap together LEGO bricks. Join for the fun and the science and end up creating computer programs! Animate with Scratch Computer Camp Create your own computer animations! Make characters talk, walk and even fly or objects move! Be creative and have fun exploring Scratch, an object-oriented computer coding language. IncrediFlix Action Movie Flix/ Stop Motion Imagination Flix Make movies instead of watching them! Brainstorm, storyboard, and work in groups as you go through the Hollywood process of filmmaking. SPECIALTY CPS Mad Science Adventures in the Wild Take a walk on the wild side by exploring birds, bugs and beasts! Have some creepy, crawly fun building a bug house and fill it with new friends while learning how animals adapt in the wilderness. Operation Invention We ll take you on a journey of discovery through the real life inventions of da Vinci, Edison and the Wright brothers. You will be challenged to create some of the most important and exciting inventions. Little Green Thumbs Step into the garden and learn about soil, seeds and sprouts in this camp that is sure to inspire. Examine fruits, vegetables, plants and leaves and learn about the interesting variety of creatures that live in and help your garden grow. Mad Science All-Stars Build super structures, create a volcanic eruption and examine rocks formed from volcanic magma. Soar high above as you build a kite and experiment with lift, aerodynamics and air pressure. Play-Well TEKnologies Jr. Robotics using LEGO WeDo Build and program robots in this introductory robotics class using the LEGO WeDo system. Learn basic programming, engineering concepts and robot components while working in small groups to complete several projects using tilt and motion sensors. Robotics using LEGO EV3 Build and program robots using the new LEGO Mindstorms EV3 system. Learn about mechanical and software design, loops, conditional statements, problem solving and teamwork skills. Work in small groups, program and build your robot and rise to the challenge by controlling the robot to avoid obstacles and pick up and carry objects. Jedi Engineering using LEGO Create motorized and architectural projects with imagination and engineering to defeat the Empire! Explore engineering principles by designing and building projects using LEGO materials such as X-Wings, R2 Units, Energy Catapults, Defense Turrets and Settlements from a galaxy far, far away. Jedi Master Engineering using LEGO The Force Awakens in this advanced engineering course for young Jedi! Discover key engineering concepts such as gear trains, worm drives, pneumatics and eccentric motion. Build projects from LEGO materials such as X-wings, AT-AT walkers, Pod Racers, Star Destroyers, Cloud Cities, Settlements, Fortresses and other complex machines and structures from a galaxy far, far away. Wonders K12 Science Education Slime, Submarines and Spooky Spy Stuff Your child will experiment with 50 hands-on projects throughout the week, including riding hover-crafts, creating invisible inks, growing crystal gardens and more. 5 SPECIALTY CPS SPORTS Baseball Camp by Pley Sports All players will be placed in groups based on age and individual ability. This camp includes baseball drills, competitions and games. Pley Sports jerseys and photos of each camper are included with registration. Archery Bullseye! Join this Olympic-style archery camp and learn how to shoot a bow and arrow from nationally certified coaches. Learn the basic skills of the sport, range safety and equipment handling. All equipment is provided. Closed-toe shoes required. Gymnastics Explore and develop gymnastics skills and routines in all gymnastics events including trampolines. Kidz Love Soccer Learn and practice soccer skills including dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting and defense. Everyone is a winner in an age-appropriate World Cup tournament. All campers will receive a soccer ball and Kidz Love Soccer jersey. Master Sports Skill Builder Basketball Build your physical and mental skills in this camp that focuses on giving every player the tools they need to succeed. Fitlight Trainer is incorporated to train your brain and your game. Students are divided into groups by skill and age to maximize their workouts and scrimmages. All campers will receive a basketball dri-fit performance shirt. Xtreme Dodgeball By combining some of the most popular games of all time, Master Sports has created a fun, fast-paced, adrenaline rush game. The game is played on a court with inflatable obstacles used for ducking, dodging and hiding. Our dodge balls are child- friendly soft, foam core models to create a safe and Xtremely fun time. National Academy of Athletics Bump, Set, Spike Volleyball This camp will help beginners and advanced players alike improve their skill sets with exceptional instruction in all aspects of the game. Skills developed include serving, passing, setting, kill or attack, blocking and floor defense. Air Attack Flag Football Campers not only learn individual flag football skills like passing, receiving, running drills and strategy but will also develop personally and socially, learning teamwork and building character and life skills through sports. Whether they want to improve their skills or just compete, we have something that will motivate, educate and challenge everyone! All Sorts of Sports This camp will help to build your child s motor skills, hand-eye coordination, agility and many sports specific skills. Games we play include baseball, basketball, soccer, relay races, obstacle courses and more. DANCE Charlene s Dance Camps Hip-Hop/Pop Star Dance Camp So you like to dance? In this high-energy class, children will learn hip-hop techniques and combinations, danced to their favorite music. Children will also learn choreographed dance routines for an end-of-camp showcase. Fun, dance-themed arts and crafts included. Junior Dance Squad Join us to learn a combo of acrobatics/tumbling, jazz, ballet and pop star dance to hit songs! Every day will consist of a fun warm-up, stretching, across-the-floor technique, turns, leaps and tricks for dance. Learn choreographed dance routines and put on a special performance for friends and families on the last day of camp. 6 Cheer, Dance and Tumble GO! FIGHT! WIN! Learn the fundamentals of cheerleading and dance technique including stretches, jumps/kicks, cheers, sideline dances, beginner stunting and tumbling and a full routine to perform for family on the last day. Fun cheer-themed arts and crafts included. Kamp Kinderdance This camp blends numerous techniques and movements using education through movement curriculum. Campers will enjoy obstacle courses consisting of hoops, balls, tunnels, parachutes and more. Baking From breads to cakes, pies, doughnuts, quiches, frittatas and more, your young chef will explore the art of baking from round the world. Children will face new challenges in this precise culinary art form. Savory and sweet recipes included. Celebration Foods Countries around the world celebrate special occasions with foods that are only eaten during the celebration day. In Sweden it is customary to hide a coin in the New Year s rice pudding and the person who finds it is promised prosperity. Charlene s Theater Camps SPECIALTY CPS Storybook Musical Theater and Dance: Trolls and SING: The Musical Students will explore acting exercises/games, dance movement for musical theater and an introduction to singing. Students will learn songs, acting and dance choreography from current and classic musicals in preparation for an end-of-session abridged play. Children will also design and decorate their own backdrop. SPECIALTY Cooking Round the World Cooking Round the World is a nut-free program. If your child has other food allergies, please contact Program Director Mindy Myers at (510) before registering. Street Foods People enjoy street food because it can be a bite on the run with a flavorful or exotic impact. We will be exploring street food from countries around the world. Famous TV Chefs Chefs have shared their skills and trade secrets to TV audiences. This program will look at the lives and cuisine of five famous TV chefs: Bobby Flay, Rachel Ray, Gordon Ramsey, Giada De Laurentiis and Ree Drummond. Arimaw Productions YouTube Video Learn the basics of video making, editing and posting to videosharing sites such as YouTube and Vimeo. Campers will learn how to shoot sports videos and video tutorials. This camp is a great self-esteem booster, teaching your child the skills associated with performing or presenting in front of people. Top Chef Cooking Camp Learn how to make different foods using a wide variety of cooking methods. You will learn how to make dishes from many different cultures. Photography Campers will get practice taking pictures while expressing their creativity. Students will learn how to create and (at the end of the week) will take home a portfolio of their work. Musical Theatre/Stage Performance: Annie Take the stage in Musical Theatre camp. Your child will work with our professional actors/theatre director as we go through casting, rehearsal, stage and prop design, choreography and more all leading up to the matinee performance of Annie at the end of the two weeks.
