1 BHS Color Guard 2005 Notes from Color Guard Meeting June 23, Fiscal year end June 30, 2005 The balance of students accounts has been paid by the Band Booster treasurer. This will close out the amount due the Color Guard for the Winterguard season Nominations for Color Guard Support Group The slate of nominations was unanimously approved; see attached handout. An updated contacted sheet was distributed. 3. Sound of Champions DCI Show June 28 A schedule of the event and driving directions was available; see attached handout. So far, there are 14 tickets to be purchased. A price will be confirmed by Beverly Vance on Monday, 6/27. If tickets are ordered and paid by credit card, a $2.50 handling may apply to each ticket. We may purchase tickets at the gate ($15 each) in order to save this extra fee. Girls will sign up for car assignment at Monday s practice. Tentative plan is to meet at BHS at 5:00 to leave for performance. 4. Uniforms A flyer with the unitog and shoes that has been selected was available. This selection has been approved by Mr. Cooke and will be purchased by the Band Boosters. We will be purchasing these two items through a purchase order through the school. 5. Band Camp Friday night event July 22 This is an annual tradition. A parent will open their home for the girls to have a sleep-over and make-up party. Mrs. Martin (Emma) has offered their home; however, if another parent has a pool and wants to open their home so the girls can swim, she won t mind. The other parents will be responsible for dinner that evening and breakfast the next morning. Dinner might be Subway or pizza; breakfast might be biscuits from McDonalds or Chick-fil-a or something from Sonic. We will finalize these details the first week of band camp. 6. Medical Forms Connie Cummings and Ross Dickinson expressed concern about giving over-the-counter medications that are not included on the form. Beverly Vance is going to talk the band s chaperone coordinator (Linda Radley) about updating the medical release form and/or for written authorization from parents to dispense any other medication not currently listed. Financial/Purchasing: Debbie Simcox; assistant: Cindy Gentry -- this person would coordinate orders for equipment, etc. and collect money Communications: Beverly Vance; assistant: Toxis St. Clair -- this person would send out communications regarding color guard information by or phone Travel/*Chaperones: Anita Martin; assistants: Mike Henry, Eva Gass -- this person will make travel reservations, arrangements and coordinate payments with the appropriate person (treasurer, coordinator, school financial secretary); -- this person will make sure practices and events are properly chaperoned *all parents participate Medical: Connie Cummings; assistant: Ross Dickinson -- be sure medical kit is up to date and is passed to another parent when they cannot attend practice or event. Production/Creativity: Melodee Boyd; assistants: Bonnie McRae and Mike Henry -- this person would work with the Director and/or Lead Instructor to assist with creative projects, such as (but limited to), sewing costumes, flags, securing props, etc. *Fundraising: Angela Foster; assistant: Angela Dickinson -- coordinate with Band Booster Fundraising VP to get appropriate information to the color guard; -- select fundraising projects and appoint or solicit parent volunteers to assist *all parents participate

Be sure and allow plenty of time to get to the stadium and to browse the corps' Souvenir Stands! FROM WITHIN MEMPHIS: Take I-240 to Bill Morris Parkway (SR 385). Take Bill Morris Pkwy (SR 385) east approximately 7 miles to the Forest Hill Irene Road exit (you will see the complex on your right). Turn right onto Forest Hill Irene Rd and make your first right into the complex on Cindy Parlow Drive. PARKING INFORMATION: Parking is free. Follow the posted signs and traffic directions of law enforcement and traffic control personnel. The general public is not authorized to park in areas marked or set aside for the corps and their vehicles.
